Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. 6 boys here. Just prefer them. Although I have thought of getting one girl. Volks. With the animetic eyes, and really girly girl. Just so they can have something to fight over. hehe

    2. I'm only interested in boys. I only own one boy at the moment, but I do want to get him a partner and a son.

If I get a girl, she'd probably be a daughter for them. Or maybe I might see the girl of my dreams and just have to get her?

It's not really something I'm thinking about since I'm trying to limit myself to a family of three at the moment. XD

    3. I usually like boy dolls more. I think they're more unique sculpt wise and more versatile. Most girls end up with big eyes and small lips, which I'm not a fan of.

    4. I used to have only girls then I bought a boy to dollify a male character, got a head I decided it's a boy and now I'm buying another boy.
My doll family is currently at six girls and 1 1/2 boys XD

    5. I used to only look at boy dolls, and when I got my first boy I'd never even considered getting a girl. But when I actually did get my second doll a year later, I figured out soon after that I loved her a lot more than my boy. I learned that I shouldn't prejudge when it comes to a doll's gender. ^^"

    6. I always wanted just girls but the first doll I bought was a used boy. He grew on me quickly and now I feel like I need an equal boy/girl ratio.

    7. My crew used to consist of all males because I was never attracted to any female dolls. 5 years later and I realise how appealing Supia and Dollmore dolls are lol /slapsself

    8. As of this moment, I only have plans for male dolls. It's odd, because I LOVE all the fashion for females, and ergo would love to have a girl someday.
Honestly, though, I have no real reason to buy a girl, nor do I have the funds. (Thanks, university!) But someday, when the winds are blowing in the
right direction, and I see a girl that takes my breath away, I'll definitely make the plunge into getting a doll of the opposite sex.
However, as of now, I'm happy to have a sausage fest for my doll collection. Albeit, I only have one full doll at the moment, but the principle still stands. LOL

    9. It seems to be about a 50-50 split between the genders here but if I'm honest I prefer the guys over the girls. My favorite doll since I started the hobby has been a Delf Shiwoo. And when I am looking for new clothing or to add another character to the family I always seem to choose one of the gents. I think it's because I identify more with them than some of the girl characters. Not that I don't have one in mind to bring into doll form. She's really close to my heart so finding the right mold has been difficult.

    10. I have one girl but I always find myself looking at boy sculpts. Now I've ordered a boy and I'm planning on ordering another one soon (tomorrow). I think I prefer male dolls but not by much.

    11. I was hoping I'd have a fairly even amount, but now I find that I really only ever look at boy dolls. For some reason girl dolls just really gross me out for some reason? Unless they're sculpts from like DIM or DC or DZ... And even then the bodies themselves just don't interest me at all. I suddenly can't think of characters for them when I see boobs???? Even if I like their face, the second I see boobs my mind just checks out. :( It's really frustrating because I actually write really awesome female characters and have more females than males, but for some reason when they go from 2D to 3D it's just boys, boys, boys.

    12. definitely boys, I'm not even remotely interested in girl dolls, I haven't seen any that I like.

    13. Ahhhh I want to see that 18th century noblewoman when she happens!

On the topic of the thread, I prefer girl dolls. I have seen a couple boy dolls here and there that I like, but overall they just don't do it for me. I just love the face ups, clothing and hair styles for girl dolls. SO MANY CUTE OPTIONS!!! :D

(I feel like I should mention the irony that the first head I purchased is TECHINICALLY a male scult...though *she* will get a face up, wig and clothing for a female...I AM A REBEL LIKE THAT! :dance)

    14. I deffently prefer boy dolls over girls, love there sculpt and all the cool clothes to dress them in. I have two boys right now and plans to get more. Eventually though i might get a girl because i want to buy cute dresses.

    15. I prefer boy dolls too, I love their facial features. The girl dolls rarely get my attention to be honest, although I'm planning on getting one at some point.

    16. My three dolls at home are girls, and I have two more on the way. I think I like the faceups and the clothing options better for girls. Also, sewing clothes for a guy doll seems incredibly daunting.

I'm really fascinated by 70cm boys, but they're a little big for me so I'll probably never get one.

    17. Thusfar, all 4 of my dolls are female, with 2 more on the way for the holidays, and one in tentative planning. I do like looking at male sculpts, and even do the whole 'some day' thing, but that's usually for specific characters (think Jareth from Labyrinth, & things like that).

So far I just can't get enough of the dresses and cute girly clothes & shoes!

    18. All girls here! And not for lack of love for boys, I just have a specific aesthetic for boys that most doll companies (aside from Iplehouse and a few others) provide. I like my boys to look like boys, you know? I do have four manly men on my wishlist that will come home with me someday though. :)

    19. Just boys. I think so many of them look so adorable

    20. It's definitely girl dolls for me, because I can dress them in cute clothes! <3 It's just I am not that interested in male fashion lol ^o^;;
