Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I have no interest in male dolls whatsoever. Any and all dolls I buy would most definitely be female, unless I'm buying it for someone else.

    2. I don't really have a gender preference for BJD's but most of the characters I have in mind for my story are all guys so I end up looking at male sculpts but certainly wouldn't mind for a girl bjd it's just there hasn't been that "girl grail doll" you would say XD

    3. I have 2 dolls arriving soon which are both girls. I have a couple of boys in mind as well, so I'm pretty evened out on the boys and girls, I also have an intersex character I hope to make into a doll soon :^)

    4. Most of mine are boys. That fact that there are pretty boy dolls were what attracted to BJDs in the first place actually! I do have a few girls but there just aren't many girls that catch my eye and if a doll comes with male or female option, it seems like I'm always more drawn to the boy version... :sweat

    5. I much prefer girls to boys. My dolly plans include 'shelling' all of the characters I use in my writing, which would be A LOT of dolls, and most of my characters are girls. I just don't do boys it seems. After all My character list looks a bit like this:

      Meia | Satsuko | Miyuki | Elycia | Logan | Anita | James | Hellena | Lillie | Ash | James | Eilis | Sonya | Teresa | Sophie | Juno | Kaias | Cameron | Misha | Lark | Titania | Rowena/Rhiannon | June | Spirit Bird | Irina | Eleina

I have two James' for some reason, but the girls definitely out number the boys... 3+:1

    6. I prefer to have male dolls ^^ because they could dress what I couldn't. Hmm.. probably I will have a female doll. But I do not have any favorite for girl sculpt for now ^^;;

    7. For some reason I do not find too many human male dolls that I would want to have myself (I cannot think of even sigle one right now). When I see girl dolls that I like, I usually can think of a character they could represent or an outfit that I could make for them. I guess I just don't know what to do with male dolls:sweat
I do like either gender anthro dolls though, it is much easier for me to think of their personalities, names and clothes for them.

    8. Both my dolls are girls but looking into my first boy and very excited to own a boy. I need him for my story. Can't wait!:)

    9. I think I'm pretty well even in number of boys vs. number of girls. That being said, I do prefer girls because I like sewing for them more and I find it easier to find things like wigs and shoes that I like for them. But I do love my boys!

    10. I have all girl dolls. I have a figure collection that is all girls too. The adult male face does not appeal to me when it comes to dolls. Some of the younger boy faces are cute, but they don't look as pretty compared to girls. I like cute, sweet, and girly clothing. I like all the different hair styles for girls as well.

    11. Personally, I like girl dolls more. I don't really like manly dolls, but if it's a feminine boy, I think I could come to like it.

    12. Nope, no male dolls here. I bought one, then just couldn't connect with him, so I rehomed him. Me and my gals are happy to be a tribe of gals. I don't quite understand it, because I love real life males, but dolls of 'em... Just not diggin' it. Maybe it's because I like making girly clothing, and wanna put it on a girl. Maybe it's because I put a little bit of my heart into my dolls, and I'm undeniably female and feminine? Maybe I'd have better luck if I bought a male doll and made him gay instead... But that's kind of stereotyping... I dunno. I'm happy with my tribe of girls, why change it now? :)

    13. I thought I would be a girl doll sorta gal, I just adore the idea of having a girl that can wear all the things I would never, or have hair in colours I'm not brave enough to dye my own hair into. But recently the boys have been calling to me, and I'm thinking my first doll might actually end up being a boy and not a girl!

    14. This is an interesting topic~ I feel that I do appreciate female dolls as well as male dolls but somehow I prefer male dolls overall because I really like my pretty boys. :) Even in the people I'm attracted to, I like guys who are a little pretty in a way rather than manly so that comes across in dolls that I like as well!

But mostly, it's because I pair dolls with characters and in the little world I've created with my friend, most of the characters that have dolls are boys. For whatever reason, I've always preferred creating male characters and find it easier to write about them than the females. That's not to say everyone we've created is male though!

    15. I am finding I prefer female dolls. I find most of the male dolls to girlie for my taste. I know there are a few nice masculine dolls out there so someday I may get one.

    16. I prefer female dolls far over male dolls and I have no idea why. I suppose it's because dressing up the females in clothes I could only dream of wearing myself and seeing how pretty they are makes me a little envious x3

    17. Me too! Especially period clothing or just outrageous fantasy. I suppose I could wear them every day but would probably draw more attention than I'd want.

    18. I absolutely prefer male dolls over female or genderless ones. Although I do like browsing gal dolls and their fancy dresses, just never seriously thought of getting one for myself. I am really into guys and male stuff, it's always been like that :]

    19. Beats me.... I like male dolls more than female dolls.... BUT.. I would love to have at least one female BJD doll.... :sweat

    20. I really want a girl doll just so I can take advantage of the adorable dolly fashions but I could be happy with just one. All the other sculpts I want are all male. I just really love that there is such an option for male dolls in this hobby! Plus one can never have to many guys in one's life~
