Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. When I first stumbled upon the hobby, I loved boys (specifically, DoT Homme Ducan and DoT Sha). Now I prefer the girl dolls :3 a male doll would have to really stand out for me to consider it, as I don't even like many of the female dolls I see.

    2. I prefer girls, I have only seen 2 boys I like but I wouldn't want them in the collection.

    3. I love my girl! Although I only have one doll, I am looking forward to buying other girls. I do want to buy a male soon as well! I think I enjoy female dolls a little more though :o

    4. Somehow I've ended having more male than female dolls.

    5. I prefer female dolls, male dolls just really don't catch my attention right now.

    6. I tend to prefer female dolls, but I find it super hard to find sculpts that I actually like (from big companies at least, finding female sculpts from indie companies is suuuper easy) so with other people's dolls I tend to prefer boys

    7. I like the girl dolls much better than the boys for myself but enjoy looking at and playing with other's boy dolls. I only have one boy and 8 girls. I love how pretty they look and how much variety their is to dressing up girls but I won't rule out getting another boy someday

    8. I tend to like all boy dolls lol. My mom tells me I should get girls because I could sew a wider variety of clothes for them. But I just never fall for girl scuplts.

    9. I guess you could say I prefer females more than males. I prefer large eyes and pouty lips which you could say firs more with a female type BJD.

    10. When I was teenage had a legion of Barbie like (cheap) fashion dolls and only two boys. I just can’t see too many women anymore. Wish I could get more couples. At the moment I have two female BJD and eight males. By the way there are a lot of indispensable males and two girls in my BJD wishlist.

    11. I have four girls! Maybe in the future I will buy a boyfriend for them... :p But for now I prefer the girls.

    12. I can't say I have a preference; I own multiple dolls of all genders.

    13. I like both female and male dolls, I would like to think my preference is neutral, but honestly, I tend to gravitate more towards the male sculpts. On the contrary, my husband gravitates more towards female sculpts.

    14. I tend to prefer female dolls over male dolls. I just got temporarily waylaid by 5th Motif Venitu.

    15. I like them both! In fact, one of the reasons I go for childlike sculpts is because shirt and pants/bloomers patterns can be used for both boys AND girls! Plus, shirts are super-easy to turn into dresses by just hemming a fabric rectangle, gathering it to the waist size, and sewing it on instead of hemming the bottom of the shirt.

    16. When picking a new bjd I HAVE to fall in love with the face. I look for great character or a sense of a back story. However, wishlist is mainly boys. Out of 10 or more dolls, there are only two that are girls. The boys just seem to catch my attention more for some reason. Does this happen to anyone else?

    17. I completely agree with you! I currently have 9 boys and 3 girls. I love dressing the girls up and making them look cute, but I always develop better and more complex stories for my boys. Also, when I browse sculpts, the males always seem to pull me in and are harder to resist than the female sculpts :sweat

    18. Out of all the dolls I have bought I only have one girl. I love her to death, but the boys just seem to call more. And My stories have the boys doing all sorts of things with the girl as a kind of side character. It's weird but thats just the way it is some times. :wiggle

    19. I only have girls so far, and my wishlist is all girls. I just identify more with female characters and feminine ideas of beauty.

    20. Hi, I like boys the same as girls, I have 3 boys and 3 girls (all SD), the only one who moves the balance is my only tiny boy (though I would like to find a tiny girl to make him company) LOL I just seem to like symmetry :)
