Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I only look at girls! but I've seen some amazing boys!

    2. I have only 3 boy dolls. I have more female dolls which I think is because you can dress them up a lot more in really cute clothes. Doesn't mean i don't want more boys I do. I just need to find the right ones first.

    3. I seem to perfer female sculpts. Not once since I started the hobby did I ever look at any male BJDs, and both of the ones I have are girls.

    4. I like both, I own a MSD girl and a yosd boy. Now I am looking into getting a MSD boy.

    5. I'm the exact opposite. I only own girls and never look at the boys section, or even browse male doll photography. I have no specific reason for it but boys just don't appeal to me in the slightest.

    6. I own both, as long as their sculpts are attractive to me... gender is never a problem XD
Some of the sculpts could be quite unisex to me (e.g LLT Edria & Soom Dia) and I will match them on both female and male bodies while taking pics, just depends on the atmosphere and feeling that I want to create in that series of photos :D

    7. I personally prefer SD size boys and MSD size girls.

    8. I love both.. the gender rate of my dolls is perfectly half and half.

    9. I wanted to get boys but I started with buying a girl and I just love the female form so much, and I think they're so beautiful and fascinating i'm absolutely enchanted by her and I already have plans to buy her girlfriend a couple more ladies lined up after that for my dolly wishlist. I guess i'm just a little bit gayer than I originally thought lol

    10. Right now it's all boys but I have my eye on a girl sculpt. I want a girl at some point because I love the dresses I've seen all over the web. Not to mention I'd love to make her a few. She'll be spoiled rotten when I get her.

    11. All girls in my house.

    12. I have a pretty equal balance of male and female characters (two complete boys and two bodies waiting for heads, three complete girls, a headless body and a floating head +a girl on order and one doll who can be either male or female, depending on the particular moment, cause that's how frost is.) but I can honestly say I find female characters easier to write, and have more fun with outfits for them. Perhaps they're easier to write for me because I am a girl, and my SO is a girl, so I spend a lot of time around the ladies. As such, I've never had that crushing moment of "why are there no male fashion dolls?" Like a lot of people describe as kids, other than when I didn't have enough male characters to make Harry Potter scenes in fourth grade, or to shell the characters one of my friends and I made in... Would that be fourth grade? Other than that, I'm usually content to have a nice group of beautiful ladies.

    13. From what I've seen so far - girls seem to have more opitions when it comes to customization compared to boys and are usually easier to find premade clothes/wigs/shoes for. Though on the other hand, in my opinion the boys also tend to have a bit more variety when it comes to the scuplts themselves. So far, my own small collection only has boys with one more on the way so it looks like that's the winner for me. Female sculpts just don't catch my eye as much and when they do unrealistic bust proportions are usually a deal deal breaker. That probably mainly depends on the company too. I do hope to own a girl at some point, but I can't justify buying one just for sake of having one. I guess I just gotta wait and keep my eyes open.

    14. I'm kind of stuck in the MSD boy category for some reason. I try not to be picky about gender, especially since I've fallen in love with some girl sculpts in the past and look to bring home an SD sized one in the future, but for some reason I can't stop squeeing over MSD boys because of how sweet and adorable they look. The MSD boys are the first categories I browse when checking out doll shops. Chances are as my family grows, I'll have more boys than girls, but I do hope to bring home at least a couple girls some day.

    15. SD boys over here. I've eyed a couple of ladies, but there's something about the men that just pull me in. However I'm sure I'll end up with a few ladies to even things out :) I have my eye on a couple, but my men's list is WAY bigger.

    16. I never have interest in female doll so far. I'm still obsessing over male dolls. Maybe it's because my personal aesthetic is more into male. I draw some character concepts and I rarely draw female. This could influence my choice on doll gender.

    17. I really can only see my self having girl dolls. I don't find boy dolls as pretty and etc, and also I have a really really hard time creating/ bonding with male characters, and I'd pretty much only buy a doll if I had a character I loved for it. So yeah, there's definitely a gender I prefer.

    18. I enjoy collecting both genders, whoever appeals to me when I see them! SD dolls are too big for me, but for boys I prefer the more mature look, so it makes it hard to find a mature looking msd... I have one msd girl, one yo-sd girl on the way, and one Vito boy from SoulDoll. I think he is gigantic, but I made do!

    19. I like both sexes, but I think I prefer boys ! I just have a thing for boys//. Girl dolls are so pretty tho** Also, girl dolls are lucky, they often have prettier clothing than boys ><

    20. Boys are so cute and the sculpts makes me cry!
