Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I used to be very frustrated since I loved SD boys but hate SD girls..
Now with MSD, I like the girls but em not a big fan of the boys..

I only used to browse girl dolls until I found Akagi.. The size and sculpt was just too perfect for what I want!
My goal for the moment is to buy him a girlfriend xD

    2. I always only look at female bjd's because to me they are prettier than males..

    3. Girls are more fun to style and play with. Boys have their own charms, too, but I only have plans for girls here on out ^-^

    4. I prefer female dolls over male. I think it's the delicate look of the female. I own four females and one kid delf male.

    5. I myself heavily prefer female dolls over male dolls. I just find their features to be cuter and I like the variety of clothing styles available for them much more. :3 I'm not entirely against including a male doll or two in my collection, but I have yet to find any that I felt like I need to have.

    6. I lean very heavily to the male side of the gender spectrum. There are few fe ale sculpts I've instantly fallen in love with even though there are so many wonderful designs out there. I have come to the conclusion that maybe they just aren't for me? Haha, who knows. Maybe one day that will change and I'll end up with a bunch of girls instead of lads. It's interesting to hear how many people have a preference that goes either way, and that it's not that uncommon at all.

    7. i prefer girls, i don't really have an interest in buying boys lol. :sweat

    8. I started out this hobby being very heavily into boys. For the first few years, I had one girl to five or six boy dolls. Over time though I find myself getting pickier about the boys I own and embracing girl dolls. I've still kept the boys I have but I have to really think before adding another one where as right now I want all the girls! :D. The amount of fashions open to the ladies is a big factor in that though I also think I'm just at a place in my life where my tastes have changed a bit.

    9. I lean heavily on the girl scale. I own all female dolls currently because I love all the fashions and styles available. However, a new SD male doll was released that I'm in love with, so that may be my first male doll addition to the family!

    10. I seem to like the boys more then the girls. that's it really...

    11. Would anyone else be interested in seeing a tally of boy to girl ratio?

I'm kind of curious to see if it's 50/50 or if more people lean toward one gender.

    12. Hello!
It's funny cause when I was planning on my bjd collection I imagined having all boys.. But then I found a second hand Doll Leaves IDA and I fell in love. Now I will have three girls and one boy (all MSD) Im waiting on my two girls and boy.

    13. I do admit that I prefer female dolls. Just in general there are so many nice sculpts for girls available and the aesthetic I want for male dolls is really hard to find, and as of yet there are maybe three male dolls I'd consider buying, and only one of them are actually in serious consideration.

I also generally just find female clothes more interesting, doing darling and elaborate bead work just fits better with female dolls for me, as I don't think I'd ever want to dress my male dolls in frilly clothes.

    14. I prefer male sclupts over female. Most of my characters are male so that's why I tend to lean towards male dolls. Don't get me wrong I like female sclupts too. Most female dollies don't call out to me to buy, don't get me wrong I have a female MSD and I just ordered a Uha Zenith. I have no clue what her name is going to be but I fell in love with her face up and I couldn't help myself.

    15. I prefer girls there's just a wide variety of things I can do with girls
I like to look at boys but I always end up buying girls

    16. The male sculpts are usually what I aim for and what usually attracts my attention. However, it's a lot easier for me to buy girl sculpts than male sculpts. For the most part, girl sculpts are beneficial to get since it's incredibly easy to deal with them and dress them up. Girl dolls just have that much more styles of clothing that can easily be tailored to ones taste. They're also smaller and way easier to handle and wow the female sculpts are so amazing? Plus, girl dolls are generally expected and accepted by those outside of the BJD hobby.

Male dolls have a limited array of clothing choices and their anatomical parts concern others. Of course, that doesn't stop the lot of us. It does suck when you want to put your boy in a dress but the dress wont fit around their rib cage (which is sometimes confusing because wow female sculpts and their bombshell bust right).

As a result, I have an even amount of boys to girls. It's a little weird since I very much love boy's love so my boys should have had male counterparts. But no, I just fell in love with a good amount of female sculpts as well. I do prefer the male sculpts though. They're so much more intricate and detailed with all those angles.

    17. This is an interesting topic for me. I've always been more into female sculpts, but possibly for different reasons than most girl-preferring collectors.
I'm a guy myself, but I've always loved traditonal womenswear, such as big frilly dresses etc. However, as a guy I haven't had the privilege of ever wearing such clothes myself (not that I'd want to, I'd look absolutely ridiculous). Nevertheless I truly enjoy the aesthetic and love making dresses and accessories myself, which is why I prefer girl dolls. They give me a way to express and embrace my feminine side which I don't get to show a lot IRL.

    18. I love my girls, but I find a lot more male sculpts that I am attracted to. I'm very picky about the girls I guess. I would much rather sew for the girls though. I don't like to make tailored clothes.

    19. i seem to prefer male dolls ^-^ just based on my collection since i have 3 boys and 2 girls ^-^ however its more the sculpt on a whole that determines whether or want a doll or not then the gender ^-^

    20. I have just two males, with the rest of the collection females. It's been a preference for pre-owned rather than a gender bias. I would get more, but prices for males I'm interested in are generally more than I'm willing to pay. I'm a Volks fan, so new male ones are out of my threshold. I have gotten three to four Dollfie Dreams for the price I paid for my pre-owned SDGou. The boys... $$
I just paid for my preordered Snow Miku, so I've gotten the last DD for quite awhile. (I need bodies now for the floating heads.) But I might go for the new SD17 "Doctor" coming up for preorder on Volks. I'd like to get both, because they're as inexpensive as they're ever going to be. Windows of opportunities are closing; we need a new car, I'm working on my motorcycle, then there's Dentist for both of us, ...... And the Autumn calendar is filling up.
