Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. it seems that, overall, i seem to like "male" sculpts better. bjds are unique because you could take an originally male doll head and put it on a female shaped body and suddenly its whatever you choose, so its not always about the sculpts.
      im going to try my hardest to have a mix of genders, be it male, female or otherwise. i have male, female and genderless characters in mind but i dont think its an even mix. id say in general i prefer male dolls over others

    2. Hmmmm, I do prefer male dolls over girl dolls, mostly because I will run my wallet to the ground when I buy a girl doll (so many pretty things to choose from!! hhhh) and because I feel very conflicted and picky when picking a girl sculpt. It's a personal thing though haha! I do love girl yo-sds! So cute and sweet~ but I have over 20 doll plans and only 2 are girls ;;3;;

    3. I tend to be more drawn to Girl dolls just because I prefer the look of them and find there's more clothing selection or at least I end up liking the selections for girls more than the boys. And I definitely have a longer wishlist of girl dolls too.

    4. I like girls more usually, mainly because I like making girly outfits more than boy outfits ^^' but I do want to get a fantasy sculpt boy someday. Lots of really good ones.

    5. I much prefer female dolls. There's more variety in their wardrobe and it's a lot easier for me to come up with their personalities because I'm female too.

    6. yes i got all male dolls.. i bought a female once but i resell it out... i dont wanna store both clothes for guys and girls at home haha

    7. No preference. I love both genders in equal measure. Each has its charm. :)

    8. Girls, girls, girls.

      The only boys I even consider are those I want to turn into girls. (Souldoll Lucci is pretty high on my wishlist for just that reason <3 )

    9. I've owned two boy dolls... ever o.o out of 8 or 10 girls. I find it hard to keep male dolls around. >_< I prefer the girl ones.

    10. Most of the dolls in my plans are male—
      Although I'd love to own female dolls since further down my plans I actually also have females,
      but they're lesser in number compared to my male doll plans, ahaha. ;;;

    11. In my opinion, gender is not question, I'm so happy my girl will have a boy accompany her. :hug:

    12. When I started the hobby, I had more male than female dolls. Now, I have more female than male dolls.

    13. I really love female dolls. Maybe because they fit the mold of a "traditional" doll? I do however love male yo-sd's. So cute! So, females for any size bigger than yo-sd an boys for yo-sd.

    14. I don't normally like boy dolls in general...but strangely enough, for BJD...i only look at boy dolls to the point of not wanting to buy a girl doll...I don't know if it will stay this way, or it's because I haven't find a girl doll that feels like she's the one yet...

    15. Although I have only been in the hobby for six months, out of the hundreds of dolls I have looked at a girl has yet to fully peak my interest XD I think it's strange because I see many beautiful girl dolls yet I don't feel the desire to own them. That could change someday, but for now I love my boys :) I think perhaps it's due to the fact that I grew up seeing girl dolls all the time (not bjds of course) but boy dolls were so less common.

    16. I'm a girl, and I prefer boys! (weird considering how gay i am lol) but idk, maybe because I'm more comfortable around boys irl and that's transferring to the dolls somehow? But that wouldn't stop me from getting a girl doll if I really connected with her :)

    17. When I take into consideration the current dolls I have (WIP or finished), and the ones I've got planned, you could say I'm gender neutral. I'm creating characters for a novel in the works, and I've got characters of both genders pretty decently fleshed out, so to speak.

      Although, if I had to name a preference...males. It seems like there's more body style options for one (outside some exceptions most girl bodies look very similar), plus I personally prefer the male physique:D. Also, since having a collection that dresses in cute, frilly little dresses and garb of the sort doesn't really appeal to me(I'm not the girly type, more a tomboy), I don't have the desire to own a large number of girl dolls. I also find dressing guy dolls to be pretty easy and fun (there is actually quite an assortment out there if you don't limited it to just suits). It probably doesn't help that I wasn't fond of dolls as a kid because of Barbie and baby dolls being the only types of dolls around back then.

      I like my girls too, but I also think I'll always have a soft spot for the boys:kitty2

    18. I thought that I had posted in this thread before but I can't find it so here is my answer. I have 97 resin bjds and 95 of them are girls and 2 are boys. I would say that I prefer girls, I did have both boys dressed as girls but have since dressed one of them as a boy and the other one is still dressed as a girl. Eventually I will dress the other boy as a boy, just not sure when that will be. For me it is more fun to make girls clothes so that's my excuse.

    19. I generally prefer girls (MSD or smaller), but would love to own a tiny boy in the future.

    20. :hamster: I always have an easy time finding the perfect female doll but a harder time finding the perfect boys. Im very picky when it comes to male dolls so I tend to favor the girls. However, Im so ready to start an SD male doll collection.
