Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I have mostly girls. But I do have a few boys too.

    2. Boys all the way... The only Dolls I have that I have no desire to own a boy of, is my Minifees. I feel they are to kid looking. I love adult male dolls best. I tend to favor Iplehouse.

    3. For me I love the ladies. I see other people with awesome boy dolls but I just can't see bringing them home. I like the clothes and wigs for girls better.

    4. I like boys only, totally can't imagine myself owning a girl haha

    5. I used to loathe female sculpts, it was a part of "not being like other girls, girls are stupid and whiny" phase I think a lot of girls go through due to media's representation of females in just about any platform. Over the years I must have mellowed out, or grown out of it, because now most of my planned dolls are females. I wouldn't say I necessarily prefer having female dolls, I just have a harder time finding male sculpts that are masculine and that I like in msd size.

I hope to in the future even out the gender ratio of my collection~

    6. This is such an amazing topic, personally I have my eyes on a girl doll even I'm a boy. it's just that because of the character I'm planning. However as I've notice the people in this hobby is so amazing that they could easily turn the male faceplate into a girl with just the face-up they do. Sorry going back to the topic, I prefer girls

    7. I find myself drawn to male dolls. I have one at home, I have another lined up for ordering once funds come in (maybe). Who knows; I might bring a female home as a girlfriend for one of them, a few years down the line (if I'm still in the hobby, or the dolls are still around), but I'll be content with my two boys (or just the one, depending on if I add a second after all).

    8. So far I've always preferred male dolls - my dolls on hand right now are all males! There's a few female sculpts I like but I do enjoy looking at their photos more than actually wanting to own one~

    9. I think in my story I am going to end up with way more guys than girls. Not for any particular reason as that is the way the story goes. But the more faun sculpts I find, who knows the number just might even out.

    10. I prefer girl dolls, their clothes are more fun for me. I like having a few boys but I'll always have more girls. No one gender-bends. Technically one is an android but she considers herself to be female. We have one neutral gender doll character who is comfy on a either a male or female body, Unoa L-bi.

In my friends' collections and in our local group I always like the boys better though.

    11. I love boy dolls but my boys also like cross dressing. I swore when I got into this I would never have a boy doll but I like the aesthetic and ease of finding fashions for girl dolls and somehow I wound up with nearly all my dolls ordered and planned being boys @_@

    12. I prefer boy dolls, because I'm a straight woman. So I like looking at boys more than I like looking at girls. Shallow, but there you go.

    13. That's something I do too. I totally prefer female dolls, and I'm a lesbian. Not saying all women who prefer female dolls prefer women too, because doll choices and sexuality don't always correlate, but I find it interesting that we're doing the same thing opposite ways!

    14. I find that I usually gravitate towards male sculpts, which I kind of strange because objectively I actually usually prefer the look of female sculpts. (If that makes sense?) I think it might be because the majority of my characters are male, honestly.

    15. I prefer boys over girl dolls.

    16. I've had such a long list of boys I wanted when I started this hobby and now I have 2 boys and 9 girls, lol

    17. It really depends but most of the boy sculpts are (very handsome of course) but not really my favorite. I love the variances of girls, but then again I love SD boy clothes...guess you could say its pretty even for me :sweat

    18. (Warning: Mention of off-topic doll briefly) I can appreciate female/feminine sculpts, but I can really only see myself having boy dolls. I don't know if it's cause I'm a transgender guy and I remember having tons of Barbie's and wanting more Ken dolls but never getting more than 2 or if it's cause I'm a gay guy and want to see those relationships or if it's just my preference without an explanation!

    19. Both of the dolls I currently own are male. I'm interested in female dolls, but none of the sculpts I've seen have grabbed my attention as hard as the ones I actually bought did. It's an expensive hobby-- if I'm going to drop hundreds of dollars on a doll, I'm going to do it for a doll that really lights up my heart.

      One of the primary reasons I bought male dolls is because I really love men's fashion, and I want to learn how to sew SD clothes. I'm also very interested in women's fashion, though, and I love blurring gender lines. So while I want to make nice, tailored men's clothes for my boys, I wouldn't mind making more feminine or androgynous clothes for them to model, too, in lieu of actually having a girl to sew for. I need to fix my measurements. ><;;;

    20. I have two girls and I have a plan to bring more girls in the future. I think I do prefer girls way over boys. :) I used to think I like boys more, but it turned out to be I’m a girl person lol
