It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. Most of my dolls are female even though I prefer male dolls. It's just easier to make a doll female due to clothing options. All of my dolls' sculpts are androgynous to begin with.

    2. I'm new and I don't have a doll yet but one's on the way! When I was looking at different molds, I couldn't decide between a girl or boy. I found some gender neutral bodies and I thought that would be the solution but I couldn't find a head to go with it. I then thought about getting a male doll since some of them have a gender neutral look to them. Eventually I came across a specific anime mold that struck me with inspiration and I couldn't stop thinking about it and they just so happened to be a girl. So long story short, I don't really have a preference. It's just whatever speaks to me I guess! lol

    3. Most are boys. For me it's easier to choose clothes.

    4. All of my dolls so far are female, and I vastly prefer female dolls over male. That said there are a few male sculpts I am interested in.

    5. Every time I plan to get a boy - another new, gorgeous girl sculpt is released.
One of these days, I'm going to get a SartoriaJ boy. One of these days...

    6. Depends on the size. I only like boys in 1/3 scale, but I like girls in all scales. I really love 1/3 scale boys, but it's easier to make a purchase of a smaller doll, so I have more girls.

@MaleficentMrsofEvil You're gonna have to make some irl doll friends to borrow boys from at this rate! The beautiful girls will never end :XD:

    7. I don't have any dolls yet, but I thought to myself I'd only get male dolls and only female if I'm going to make one of my OCs with them. Suppose it just depends on if I like the sculpt or not, I think I prefer androgynous ones which can easily be made into either.

    8. I would say girl dolls but I can see me having an army of 1/4 sized boy. I love Dean and Rei from Dollsnshop. Allen and Erda from Fairyland. Doll Chateau Phoenix and MYOU Carr.

    9. @nyaaain I know, right? I don't know if it's ever going to happen.

Yup. I straight-up prefer female dolls - primarily mature sculpts, but darn if Blue Fairy and Alchemic Labo don't make some adorable little kids. (Chibis?)

I suspect that I'll need to see a male doll in real life (IRL) before I finally get one.

    10. I prefer male dolls. I have no female dolls at the moment, I haven't seen one that has caught my eye yet but I can appreciate the wide range of style you can dress female dolls up in.

    11. All of my dolls thus far are female but I have fallen for several male sculpts recently so that I am sure will change soon.

    12. I prefer female dolls all the way. There's something about the female form that invokes more creativity out of me.

    13. I'm currently waiting for my 4th boy! I have a YoSD with a gender neutral body who I see as a girl but other than that I'm yet to run across an SD female who will catch my eye. Don't get me wrong, there're so many beautiful ones and I want to add some female characters to the doll crew. But just waiting for the love at first sight. Which is funny because in other brands I usually prefer female dolls

    14. I have more female dolls than male dolls. When I began in the hobby, I thought I would buy only male dolls. But finaly I ended with far more girls! I find them more attractive and I like better clothes for girls bodies (most of the time).

    15. I use to solely want boy dolls, but after taking a break and returning to the hobby I'm finding myself wanting girl dolls a little more than boy dolls. I think this is because I like to project myself onto my dolls. Before I felt most comfortable to express myself through boy dolls, but now I feel I do that better through girl dolls. I am able to project/express myself through both, though, so I don't really have a strong preference anymore.

    16. I prefer female dolls. Mostly because there are more choices and varieties for dresses and accessories.;)

    17. I prefer female dolls. It’s mostly because of the outfits these days but when I was younger it was because I was a bit squeamish about resin penises (in my defense I was fourteen).
