It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. "PRETTY please?": the art of obtaining.

Apr 28, 2005

    1. Mine was pretty much like this, except my dad didn't warm up to the idea. His attitude towards it actually got a little worse

    2. i try at least once a day
but never with my mom. i go see her BF instead! >8{D

''jaiiiiiiiime, do you wanna give me 500$?''

''hey jaiiiiime, do you wanna buy a body for my poor floating head? *3*
-- why should I? what do I get in return?
-- my happiness and forever grattitude? :-D ''

      or even

''she's pretty, huh? and look, she has a nice body, huh? don't you wanna have her home? x)
      -- don't care... ôo
-- but... but... i need a girl! or else my boy will turn gay! D: u dont want that to happen do u??''

i tried everything. nothinh works xD
mostly because my mom keeps all the money anyway... ¬_¬

    3. Ahhh the joys of not being able to get a job XP

So my tale starts with my amazing mother letting it slip that she kinda likes the bjds that I stare at all day. (She now denies it) My dad also looked at the Minifee that I wanted and also said he liked it. I then asked them for it, they say no, of course. I quickly start raising money and looking all over for possible ways of getting funds and them after seeing me so sad that I didn't know how to raise up money, he said that he would pay the difference! YAY <3

    4. Well.

I do very poorly in school because I never do anything.
And I rarely do anything around the house.
But my mother is well aware that I almost got straight A's on one term a couple years ago. (And all my teachers repeat how i'm 'the smartest in their class')
And my mom has been trying to find a large number of ways to get me motivated.

Despite how terrible it is, I've found a way to get things this way.
And now she's agreed, that If I tried my best all of next school year, she'll buy me a doll.

"Hey mom, if I got on the honour roll all of next year, will you buy me this? *Points at screen with doll photos and the prices* "
" Yes, D< If you try your best!"

Mind you this was a few months after I told her ALL about the doll hobby XD

    5. My Doll Journey:
-Sees dolls on DeviantArt as Photo-art.
-Loves Dolls, but is too lazy to seriously think about getting one.
-Meets a strangers in a book store with whom I exchange phone numbers (She was younger than me)
-One day she brings up dolls in convo, calling them "Migidolls" or some such.
-Looks up, sees price, cries, quits.
      -Years later gets a job.
-Meets bff who HAS a MSD, realizes getting one is possible.
-Sees Dollmore Kid Miro, falls in love.
-Saves for six months, birthday money, Christmas money, and job money.
      -Buys!
-Little brother doesn't answer the door when the postman bring him, I am away at school.
-Has to wait until he arrives back at the post office.
-FINALLY! VICTORY! He is MINE <3
-Now... what about the next doll... *continues plotting*
-Currently on the way is a Ringdoll Full-set Markus :D

    6. Doll journey so far:

-In a guild in an online game called Maple Story, one of the leaders of guild makes us a website.
      -Go to website
-Sees the page for my character
-Oogles over pretty picture and is trying to figure out how exactly friend painted that.
      -Friend "Photoshop."
-Me: "ooohhhh" think's its a lovely picture and was surprised at her ability to paint and thinks it looks very doll like but a very unique doll.
-Wonders if they make doll's like that.
-Saves pick of doll looking character on computer
-Guild falls apart due to reasons which are to be un named
-Website got taken down because of in activity
      -Joins new game
      -Meets MidnightDreamer in game
-Quits online games all together because of to much drama
      -Still good friends with MidnightDreamer.
-MidnightDreamer shows pictures of her BJD's
-Is enchanted, remembers the old picture from guild website.
-Wonders if picture was based of a BJD
-Look's at picture again and thinks it is.
-Friend who made it has quit the websites we kept in contact from.
-MidnightDreamer keeps trying to convince to buy a doll.
-Says "maybe one day if I can save up enough money."
-Forgets about the hobby and is swept up in school and new job as a stage manager.
-Almost quits internet all together and is consumed in work that goes till 11 at night.
-Rejoins web once work settles down a bit.
-Decides to write book based off old guild in Maple Story after years of contemplation, main character is Windlea who I played as
-Find's a BJD photographer on DA
      -Loves the pictures
-Wants to know more about the dolls.
-Visits photographers FAQ and click's on the link to Luts where said photographer bought a doll.
      -Is enchanted again.
      -Wonders if should get doll.
-Decides to use pic's of dolls from Luts to represent characters in small book of reference since the dolls fit the image well.
-Looking through Delf girls and sees a SOO doll and thinks. "That looks like Windlea to me."
-Think's doll is very pretty, decides to buy doll.
-Looking in wigs to see wig that reminds of Windlea's hair in the game.
-Sees the EXACT PICTURE FRIEND PHOTO SHOPPED FOR WEB SITE OF WINDLEA (it was a brown curly haired wig on a Soo doll!)
      -Falls off chair in surprise
      -Decides to get doll!
-Now turned into the house keeper to earn 100 bucks a month to save for doll while writing the book.

xD long story I know, Ive been interested in this doll since I was... 13? Yeah thats when the website was first up. : o I'm 17 now! So this is near half a decade in the making xD

    7. I have no idea where to even get started with begging my mother to let me get a doll (with my own money too, might I note). I merely mentioned to her one day, during the course of a normal conversation, that one of my friends showed me her gorgeous, fully-articulated doll. I did not mention the price tag, any other specifications, or whether I wanted one or not but her immediate reaction was to cut me off in the midst of my description with "YOU'RE TOO OLD FOR DOLLS!!!!! DON'T PLAY WITH THEM!!!!!":(

My father doesn't care, but he'd rather follow the route of "do what makes your mother happy".

Where do I go from here? I've seriously considered telling her it's an "art project" so I can apply for some university thing next year (a personal art project is one of the requirements) but I don't think this will work. Gotta keep plotting...

    8. Get it anyways and don't tell her? :D

    9. I've got the money to get my boy.....in the form of an I.O.U. from my mom lol so basically I just ask if I can order him on a certain date...she says "We'll see" or something along those lines, I wait about a week or two, then ask again. We've basically established that we'll certainly order him before I go back to school in August...I would just love to order him before July 15 cause I wanna get one of the Luts event heads....

    10. THE JOURNEY.
      1. Sees Enchanted Doll on Flickr. Thinks they are pretty.
      2. Keeps visiting site but thousands of dollars is WTF.
      3. Googles BJDs. Wows over the sheer size. (43CMOMGTHATSBIG.)
      4. Decides that maybe she can deal with a 40cm Iplehouse Amy.
      5. Decides that Harin is prettier.
      6. Talks to Guardians. They like Harin, but she's too expensive. (Around400.)
      7. Goes back to Amy and tries to fantasize her character.
      8. Can't quite connect with a potential Amy.
      9. Stops trying to pursue BJDs.
      10. Goes back to look some more. Finds cooler sites.
      11. Decides to get Tender Shall. Wow expensive.
      12. Joins Den of Angels. Finds this thread.
      13. Uses both the "Look at all the guns granddaddy has" and the "write a long, detailed, mature letter to guardians" methods and scores.
      14. Decides that maybe she doesn't want a girl after all.
      15. Agonizes over all the sheer options.
      16. Settles on Yeon-Ho. Orders him by herself with Guardians credit card.
(Mind you, they were two feet away and I showed them the receipts. :-D)
      17. Loses allowance for the next eight months because that little bastard was $800.

      -

My art of obtaining was doing good in school and weaning my guardians into the idea. I told them all the artistic paths I could pursue with a doll and wrote a long letter explaining what BJDs, what they could be used for, their expenses, and what I had done and would do to have earned them. The trick is to be mature. :-)

Any other dolls I get will be for birthday or Christmas. I can't sacrifice anymore manga.
I COULD HAVE HAD 80 MANGA. SEE THAT YEON-HO? YOU BETTER LIKE ME.

    11. The path to it's my money and you cant do nothing :mwahaha
      1. Goes to Youmacon and sees a lady with one on her arm has a mini WTF moment then forgets
      2. next year is dragged to a dollfie panel by my friend and sees them up close vows to get one
      3. spends the next 2 years getting then spending money because of a tiny attention span
      4. well saving for those 2 years trolls the BJD companies and finds Yder and falls in love :aheartbea
      5. goes back to the same page obsessively for those 2 years
      6. finally holds a BJD and is amazed at how heavy they are
      7. vows to the people at the doll meet-up i shall have him by next year
      8. tell my mom and shows her his picture saying i shall have him
      9. does tax return upon seeing how much i got back plots to get him
      10. finds out how much him a wig, underwear and shipping would be
      11. puts enough into back account and orders him
      12. has mom freak out when bank call to confirm withdrawal
      13. says it for my doll then explains that i said i was getting him that night not later and i told her earlier
      14. well waiting for him to come buys clothing for him
      15. then he finally come in the mail only to have my mom freak out that he has boy parts
      16. dresses him then was free to snuggle him to my hearts content
      17. all the while lying to dad about how much he was

    12. I convinced my mom (dad's not in the picture) that it would be a perfect way for me to break in the new (first) credit card she just got me and I could earn credit by paying off the doll :D My fiance wants one too so there was no need for wheedling there :P

    13. My mom usually buys me a reasonable priced doll for Christmas, the conversation usually goes something like this:

Mom: What do you want for Christmas?
      Me: A DOLL!!! :D
Mom: sigh, again? Don't you want anything else?
Me: Shoes for my new doll!
Mom: What about things that you need, like perfume and clothes? You aren't getting anything else if you get a doll.
Me: Oh, but I need a new doll!
Mom: sigh, how old are you?
Me: Not too old for Santa Mom to bring me a new doll!! (I'm 30) LOL ;)
Mom: Okay show me this new doll.

I know that she's excited to buy me a doll, I'm the easiest person to buy for in the family, and she likes the fact that I'm girly now, because I never was as a child! Plus she collects dolls with me, she likes blythes and pukis and lati yellow. I'm trying to get her a lati yellow for her birthday this year, but if I can't find one on the secondary market, I have a CH bisou coming for her.
My boyfriend is a little bit harder to convince that I need new dolls, but for my last birthday he bought me my Soom Ai, here's how that conversation went:

Me: *sees Ai and is instantly in love, plots all night on how to get the funds together to buy her*
The next morning I wake up, leave the soom Ai page up on the computer and make an elaborate breakfast
BF: *goes to computer first thing when he wakes up* What is this?!
Me: *nonchalantly* Oh it's a doll I was looking at
BF: Those eyes gross me out
Me: :sweat Well they are changeable
      BF: Still gross
Me: *Serves up an awesome breakfast* Soo um my birthday's coming up
BF: Oh yeh? (he totally knows when my birthday is, his is 5 days before mine)
Me: Yeh, and I have an idea for my present
      BF: What do you want?
Me: um, for you to put down the first payment in a layaway for that doll
      BF: How much is it?
      Me: a little over $100
BF: No, how much is the whole doll?
      Me: oh $327
      BF: :o What!? *_*
Me: just the first payment is all that I want though!!
BF: I'll have to think about it
*later he catches me looking at the Soom site*
      Me: she's soo cute :(
BF: Well I guess it's not as much as jewelry, I'd be in real trouble if you were into that.
Me: That's true!! See I'm a cheap date!
BF: I don't know about that, but I'll think about it.

He ended up buying it that night, in full!! I didn't know and kept leaving the soom site up on my computer, and I told him the ordering period a couple times. He thought it was so funny my not so subtle dropping of the hints! :aheartbea

    14. Luckily for me, I am an adult and my husband and I make joint decisions. He's usually agreeable to my interests, hobbies and wants.

    15. i'm still 16, and was 15 when i got my first doll. my parents didn't really agree to letting me buy, and any amount of persuasion didn't help, so i saved up and went to buy one anyway. got scolded when he finally came home. was warned not to buy any more. mum threatens to throw the next one out of the window or lock it away. but hmm, despite all that, i still went and bought a head. it's not so much about persuasion now, just...not letting her find out that there's now 2 instead of just one. which, with my second doll's unique faceup, will be a rather troublesome thing to do.

but hey, there's people out there living with their parents who hide their dolls too. XD it's not easy, but trying to pass off different dolls as one is kind of still easier than hiding all your dolls.

    16. 1. talk with Aunt about dolls
      2. receive magazine about dolls
      3. porceline doll porceline doll Madame Alexander..... OMB what isthat amazing piece of beauty?
      4. check prices... oh must be because they are one-offs
      5. check website and prices... darn.
      6. talk to dad.
      7. receive "if you REALLY want it you'll work for it" speech
      8. get job
      9. get in accident
      10. bills bills bills.
      11. look at severely depleted savings
      12. get new job
      13. save up enough to get doll and a couple accessories
      14. go to website only to find doll i want is gone and remaining choices uninspiring
      15. search other sites and find several i want.
16 promise dad to agonize over choice until 15th of July, to make sure i don't regret my choice.
      17. and now I wait.....

    17. Haha I did that, but I did tell her I was going to get one someday (It just happened to be today >.<)

    18. I didn't even ask my parents if I could buy one. I just did. I saved up my money and THEN told them about it. My dad was super excited about it and supports me in my hobby...my mom thinks the dolls are nice but are impractical and that I should have saved my money. My BF respects the fact that its my money but rolls his eyes everytime I try and show him may latest doll obsession

    19. Start of Journey:
      Azure
      - Found out about BJDs through various photography sources
      - Found DOD, fangirled like mad.
      - Snooped around for more BJD sites / research abound!
      - Found a person in the BJD hobby in the same breathing space as I *country XD* Saw my first SD Boy and Yo kid. DIED.
      - Fell even more deeply in love with BJDs and started scoping for the first.
      - Told mum about hooby, she thought I was insane D:
      - Begged and used power of persuasion *failed* Got threatened, "Dont you dare" ;o;
      - Started BJD funds and stinged like mad, stared at BJDs everyday.
      - My mum noticed and akd;ks;dk;as me D: Though she knew i was so crazed on getting one oTL
      - Somehow through months of being a scrooge, managed to reach the goal!
      - And magically when I had the money my mum came to an understanding I was uber poisoned by BJDs and allowed me to get him :DDDDD!! Though she was still hmph on me.
      - After he arrived, my mum thought he was adorable and let the whole grudge on dolls go ^^;

      Rouge
      - His journey was less l;dksa;dkas. Since I told my mother about my doll family list etc, she was like WHAT are you serious? In the end, oh well as long as you save on your own it's perfectly fine with me =_=
      - Saved enough money, and went "mum...can I borrow your credit card?..." :sweat
" Who is it this time? :P"
      - The rest was history~

So all in all I'm kinda glad my mum has come to accept me and BJDs *sigh of relieve* :'D

    20. Ah this topic brings back memories.

It took five years to convince my significant other to let me buy a BJD and there were conditions involved; Saving up for them, Not spending money I don't have, Stay under $300.00.

See, my significant other thinks these dolls are ridiculously priced for "dolls". So it did take a lot to get him to agree to let me have one, let alone two and three is probably pushing it really. He does see them as a huge waste of money. So I had to agree not to by any manga or anime while I was buying these dolls. (That, by the way is killing me as I love my regular dose of anime and manga). But you can't appreciate something without a bit of sacrifice huh?

I was pretty stressed when I first ordered my very first bjd. I was worried that he wouldn't arrive and that I'd been dupped into spending so much money for nothing. That is still very much a huge worry for me whenever I order anything over $100.00.

But he arrived and he was incredibly beautiful and I am glad I did it even if there were some "bonding" type issues the first few months he was here. Now though, I really do appreciate him and that he's mine.
