Well... My story is a long and...
I dunno, I'll just start.

So back in junior year of high school, my friend had brought her dollies to class one day.
She had her MSD from CustomHouse, Ender and SD Dollzone, Faust. I had no idea what in the world these dolls really were.
But all I knew was that I was in love with Ender. So I asked her about the whole thing.
Questions insued and eventually led to, "They cost like, $300 dollars each."
Eep, was my reaction. That immediately discouraged me cause my "income" comes from my parents.

For two years, I ignored the urge to even look at dolls.
Expecially since college was really close.

Then I went to SCAD.
There I made friends with two girls who happened to each have one doll.
One had a hybrid dolly boy named Damien with a special head and the other...
You can say the other led to my demise. It was a Bluefairy Tommy named Tequila.
HE WAS THE MOST ADORABLE THING I HAD EVER SEEN.
At that point I was beginning to sway in my DON'T BUY EXPENSIVE DOLL brain lobe.

Soon after that, another friend of mine explained how she had just received her batch of resin to make her own doll.
...That never turned out to be. One night we decided to go over and cook some chocolate for our friends...
Who also explained to us that they wanted to order dolls from Bluefairy. My friend had also wanted to order from Bluefairy.
A month or so later, the three of them received their dolls together. My friend who owned Tequila was also there.

We flipped out at the cuteness.
And this is the real point where I seriously caved in and was like...
I WANT DOLL NAO.

I looked over at the Bluefairy website and stalked it for nights.
I clicked the limited section and found a Blanche Lin.
This was the one. The one that I wanted.

I got back home from school for spring break and...
Subtley... Told my mom I was gonna show her something.
She came over and I showed her the pictures and completely fell in love with it.
I then kinda snuck in a, "You should buy it for me..."
She totally agreed and said she would convince my father to half the pay with her.
Of course my father was unwilling, but it's not like he had a choice.

I thought I was golden.
But then, my father called me about how we were in the process of getting a new house.
And how he needed as much money as he could for the deposit.
And he asked if I could wait, but I was in a bit of a panic because the doll I wanted was a limited.
So I told him that if I didn't get it now, I probably might not get it at all.
And then I was deeply discouraged for about a month.

Then my mother called me, saying she had told her family back in California about the doll's price, and they freaked out.
My mom lied and said that it was an art supply I needed for a project.
So they called me up and I said the same thing. And they volunteered to split the cost and pay for it.
The life returned to my body and the world sang to me.

I waited a bit, and eventually ordered it.
Right after I did, I went to go look at it's pictures and saw the sold out sign.
I sighed deeply and thanked God. I had seemingly bought the last one.
And week or so later, I flipped out when I got the e-mail from the package center saying, "You have a package from bluefairy."
I raced over the next morning and called my a few friends over for the opening.
Cause Lord knows I'm the only one without a camera.

From there, you know the rest.
I immediately fell in love with her naked, bald self and the arrival galley has the pictures of it.
Wow, that was long.

My next doll shouldn't be too terribly difficult if it doesn't run out... O__O

 

I tried to tell my dad one day about BJDs when I actually had enough money for one.
But then I chickened out >.<
My parents aren't "go with the flow" type of people, and they would be happier if I spend the money for something more "constructive". So I decided to get a doll when I turn 18 so that I'll be in charge of my own card, and don't have to constantly ask them if I can use theirs.

LOL i know what you mean! even if i have enough money atm, my parents said now that the school started again i only get money if im good in maths pp oh how i suck at maths XD

i cant really remember how it was with myself... but something like this?

- me looking around in my folder
- accidently finding some bjd picutures and the desire begings
- first: getting so much information and visiting pages, reading, etc know everything i get
- second: deciding on the doll i want, which lasted over 2 months...
- third: calculate the prize and find nice pictures for showing AND find the right moment to tell my mom XD (not good when shes grumpy...)
- finally dropping the bomb on my mum
- my mum is a dear *love* and said yes BUT i have to save money myself, she will pay for clothes and stuff for the time being *omfgyay*

that was it :3 i love my mum when it comes to something like this! my dad didnt really care, though XD he never knows what his "girls" are doing anyway *gg* but it was rather hard for me to ask for this, because i asked right after i was at RaR and i dont like depending on their money so much :P (1 year and i have my own card!)

 

Well, I've always been into dolls my whole life, despite my father's displeasure. He did understand though. I hung out with my grandmas and my great aunt and my aunt more than anyone else most of my childhood. Then there was Shane and Amanda and a scant few others. There was also the other farm kids, mostly girls. So...yeah. At first it was odd for them, but they got used too me.

Two years of saving and having to spend that money on emergencies, bills that decided to be more or our old puppy's vet bills, I finally got enough to get one doll I want. Sometime next month my Divrak (RS Mu in purple) will be here. I think. I'm not sure how long the shipping will take, but he should be done and made next month in the middle somewheres. I'm planning on asking my family for cash for the upcoming holidays (my birthday and christmas) so I can get another doll. I dream of one day scraping up enough for a centaur, but until then I'll be happy with my wonderful satyr boy.

• Gives up on dolls.

• Comments, wishing for one.
• Gets link to Felix Brownies when they had a fullset sale.
• Dies x 1000000 and counts up saved monehs.
• Needs $20 more.
• Begs Daddeh for $20.
• Feels bad asking for moneh, tells daddeh "Nevermind"
• Daddeh thinks "Nevermind" = "Doesn't want a doll anymore".
• Cries for ages
• Mommeh feels bad and gives $20
• I go " THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!"
• Daddeh ignores
• Doll arrives
• Bounces around room being happeh
• Is now ordering my first MSD size

Well, this is how it went for me after creeping on DOD for about a week:
Me: Mom! Come here, there's something I want to you to see.
Mom: I'm changing my name... What?
Me: See, isn't he pretty?
Mom: What is she?
Me: A BJD!
Mom: What is she?
Me: A doll
Mom: You... the girl who murdered her Barbies so I would buy her a Furby, wants a doll?
Me: Yeah! He's so pretty and you can pose him and he's made of RESIN!
Mom: He? Fifteen and still unable to tell between genders...How much?
Me: Umm. A little more than $400 including shipping....
Mom: You're on your own.

 

are you kidding me?? I am a big softie I was originally going to get my wife a Grey resinsoul feng today but for the past 3 days she was gushing about how much she loved the new dollfie dream 2 body, it was more expensive than a feng but she was showing me interest that she wanted this more but felt like she didn't want to be spoiled.. XD what did I do.. like I said I caved and bought it for her today, and I plan on getting her the feng in a few months ... LOL


im thinking of getting myself a DD2 body this fall.. ha ha

 

In my case I am pretty bad, Im a college student and I've been ending up saving half my fafsa refunds to get my girl and I dolls XD so far I have for myself a RS long, she has a RS dan and I just ordered her a DD2 Dynamite body, lol.. and in a few months I am saving to get her a RS feng and get myself a DD2...

 

I don't let others tell me what is or is not worth buying, or whether I should or should not. If I want something and can afford it, I get it. In the case of my dolls, they are all, aside from Jun, payments for commissions/series of commissions.

Granted, it helps that I've explained to my mother why I'm taking commissions in doll form (I am actually getting support from the government for going to school, and I would rather not be taking in extra money straight out, in case they were to look and see that, even if I ended up using it for dolls anyway, I could still lose funding.) so she doesn't really mind. My father seems to be annoyed that I just don't get money for my commissions, but they aren't HIS commissions so he cant really tell me what to do or what not to do.

Josslyn (BBB March)- bought her at Akon with my con money.

Peyton LTF Bisou boy)- bought with a combination of birthday money and money I already had

Adia (IH Benny)- Asked my mom. Initially I was like "well, the worst she can say is no so why not try?" I sent her an email with a few of Benny's promotion pictures and Mom thought she was really beautiful. I told her about the costs and I didn't ask again, but she could tell I really wanted her. We were both doing an ESL certification course (adds teaching English as Second Language to a teaching certificate) and getting annoyed with it. Mom said that if I finished it I could order her, so I plowed through it and finished that night. XD

Unnamed LTF Bisou girl- getting her through layaway but we'll see if I can last the 4 months or if I cave and pay it all even though I shouldn't, lol.

 

The first time I asked my dad for a bjd that cost $600 he told me to lose 25 pounds then he will buy it for me. But I was too lazy so it never happened. xD

I forgot how many times I asked but I'll just say it's the second time. So the second time I asked, he bought it for me. Why you ask? Because I told him that I want to make doll clothes and sell them......

But then I have to owe him back. lawl.

 

Mine went...

Four years ago:
- sees BJDs somewhere
- finds DoD, wants SD
- sees the price and thinks that her parents are never going to let her buy one...
- so se tries to forget about them

Last summer:
- her BFF is "joking" about getting DoD Too&Bee-A, doesn't show a picture
- sees a picture on her BFF's LJ and falls in love with Bee-A
- turns 18 years old
- tells her parents she's going to buy a doll with her money, parents say no
- is still going to buy a doll and is saving money
- buys a hoodie and shoes for MSD dolls
- tries to get one doll for Christmas. her parents say "We'll see if we'll have money...". That's as good as "Yes."

So yeah, I kept my love for BJDs in secret from my parents and then suddenly started to tell them about dolls when I turned 18 xD. And now I've talked about them so much that they start to go numb about this. Oops.

 

My "doll story" is pretty simple, really...

* Sees pretty doll on dA.
* Has no idea what it is, so gives up on the idea of ever owning one.
* Sees another one.
* Finds out what they are.
* Realises price - Gives up again.
* Decides I "need" one.
* Orders one. (Gets Mum to pay for half as a Christmas present)
* ta-da! xD

As for my second, I paid for her myself. C:
I also paid for my fourth myself (yet to arrive)
My Mum is getting me my third for my birthday. (Also yet to arrive)

 

Bahaha I never asked. ^__^ I don't get expensive things. I paid for my first doll and I will be ordering her today or tomorrow! I did a fuckload of chores, sold old electronics for more than they were worth, pawned my keyboard, etc. XD BUT I'M GETTING HER! And one day, I'll get her a girlfriend. :P

-saw dolls at a local con *drools some more* waits for another year
-got money from taxes
-looked at almost a billion doll sites to find the perfect doll
-told mum that Im gunna buy it as a present for myself (she didnt contribute money-wise in anyway)
-found Luts SSDF Regen
-got LE clothes, boots, 2wigs, 2eyes, a shirt and miscellaneous stuff like wig cap etc..
-GOAL! XD

*then mum ask how much was it... me: errrrrr $700 for the whole thing* (I wish.... and she still says its expensive >.>)

 

Mine goes like this.

-Finds out about BJDs through other doll forums.
-Decides they're a lot of money, so no.
-Decides that I will save up for ONE. Since I can buy whatever I want as long as its not harmful and I buy it myself.
-the ONE plan fails miserably...
-Saves for more!
-Gets one for birthday (the only time I ever get stuff given to me, which I don't mind, because I like saving for stuff myself too)
-Continues saving....
-Buys Minifee that I've been saving for.
-Sells some stuff, continues saving again.
-planning to buy two more MNFs.
-Saving is getting there.
And so here we are

 

anything money wise, since I was a kid, my parents said "get a job"
if I couldn't, they got me one...ohhh man have I had some bad jobs, Sarah was paid for by the worst one I've ever had lol
