1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Problems with Making Stories and Names

Apr 13, 2020

    1. (I just got "This character is a young man in his late teens, who can be quite selfish. He comes from a wealthy background, lives in a fisherman's cottage and tends to work too hard." which is not much, but enough to get the creative juices flowing. Why does a wealthy kid live in a lowly fisherman's cottage? That's immediately a storytelling question my imagination wants to answer)

    2. like others have said you don't need to have stories or names for your dolls but if you want to I'd suggest making them into fanfiction characters, I love creating my own stories but it's 10x easier and more fun for me to just make a character to fit an already existing world that I love. Best of luck!

    3. Ok, this is actually interesting and fairly "heavy" subject, to put the long story short - everyone "plays" differently, every-ones imagination and creativity works differently, for some people it is more visual, for other - narrative, so no, there is nothing "wrong" about not having stories for you dolls, it mainly means that you are less of a "narrative thinker" and the main "play style" for you is something else :)
At the same time there is noting bad in wanting to expand your creativity and skills, and story telling is one of the creative skills that can be worked on if you so desire and interact with your others "play preference" to both enhance your experience and make your "creative output" more interesting and detailed.
I'd recommend figuring out what it is exactly that attracts you to the doll you picked. Is it the shape? Colors? General theme of the doll? Does it evoke some emotional response that is pleasing? If yes than what about it triggers the "feel good"? Once you have better awareness of that it will be much easier to name them - go for the name that provides you with the same associations, and once you get the right name often the story just writes itself over time :)
