1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

receiving a doll as a gift; Did you had that chance once?

Dec 10, 2017

    1. Sort of. I have a friend who tested the hobby out briefly (and I did give her a doll that she did decide to keep at the end). She picked up an inexpensive in-stock tiny from a domestic dealer, but had trouble getting the hang of customization and ended up losing one of the teeny-tiny pieces, so she asked me to see if I could restring her and find a way to repair her, or sell her with the missing piece to someone who would. I was busy with school at the time, so I tucked her away to figure out later; after a little while, my friend told me, "Just keep her and fix her up yourself so you don't have to worry about resale value, she's yours now."

    2. I'd like to give one as a gift someday, but I don't expect to ever receive one.

    3. My mother enjoys BJDs, but doesn't want any herself. She ends up gifting them to me.

I once bought a Minifee for myself, but changed my mind about keeping her. I gave her to a friend.

    4. I got my boy Kit ( A Luts Model Delf Leo) for Christmas two years ago. He's been my only gift doll and I love him even more for it. I'm a guy so I never got dolls when I was a kid.

    5. Yes. My first BJD was a gift from my parents; they bought her for me on December (she was my christmas and birthday present). She's still the "love of my life" and I have plans for her for 2018 :)

    8. My husband convinced me to order my first BJD as a Christmas gift this year. There's no way I would have ordered her on my own (due to the cost), but he insisted on it and now I'm eagerly awaiting her arrival in a few months. <3

    9. My mother used to enjoy my dolls & would get me one each Christmas as a gift. I had to pick it out & order it but she paid for it & would wrap it up till Christmas. She was very good that way.

    10. I never received anything as a gift from doll friends but i always give them dolls as gifts.
But My fiancé and family always buy me dolls as gifts or give me the fund to do so :D

    11. My boyfriend bought me a BJD for christmas/birthday last year. :3c It made me so happy and that doll is my favorite little buddy to take places. I always feel happy whenever I look at Kohvar.

    12. You guys have such lovely parents/families.
No, I've never received a BJD as a gift. I'd be really surprised if I did.

    13. Last summer, my parents ordered a Cocoa Atelier Momoni Momoni for me as my birthday gift. I'm still waiting for her to arrive from the faceup artist, but I'm so excited and thankful to get her! <3

    14. My first one was actually a gift from my dad. It was a late christmas present then ha ha~
I'm actually planning to surprise one of my good friends (she's also into BJDs but she's never owned one) with a gift doll for her birthday ^^

    15. I was on a birthday of my friend, everyone make her some presents of course but not bjd, more simplest things, but... She give all of her guests (there was three of us) a gifts back xD She told us open it only when we will get home and mine was - one of her BJD's! I was so shocked! It was not just a new "blank sheet" but her boy with personality and story! One of the best presents of my life)

    16. My daughter received her first one as a present as she had been wanted one for years and completed her fifth grade with only A's (plus, it was second-hand and not too expensive).
She will get a customed one for her birthday in April (she wants an Hastune Miku custom so I will need some time to find the right face-up, wig and outfit).

    17. Actually yes. A few times. My first doll an OT Obitsu was a Christmas gift. My first MSD boy was a birthday present from my mom, two of my tinies were gifts one from my dad another from an aunt and my Resinsoul Bei was a Christmas present. All spanned out over the years I've been in the hobby. My aunt surprised me the most, she said she wanted to buy me a doll and had me look at some with her and later on asked my mom if I could pick one out and pay for it with her card. I got an OT BJD that was around 30 bucks (one of my Ai Doll girls) and she's adorable. My aunt got her for me in September though cause she couldn't wait to see the pictures lol

    18. I finally picked out one for my friend (a Bobobie Elfkin since she likes tiny adorable things) and gave it to her yesterday for early Christmas - hopefully she'll continue to like BJDs and eventually be able to add to her collection. ^_^
