It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Receiving Gifts from Complete Strangers

Apr 21, 2012

    1. These stories are so sweet! I love it when our dolls are appreciated by those not in the fandom. Marc looks very happy with his new toy!

The closest thing I have to a gift from a stranger is when, a couple years back, a little boy from the camp I worked at sent me a little doll purse through the mail. In his letter, he said he remembered how I kept talking about them, so when he saw the purse, he wanted to give it to my girl :)

    2. Not quite a gift as such, but years ago - not long after I first got Eric, my Shiwoo boy - I took him with me to a goth pub in Camden with my boyfriend. We ordered our drinks, and I sat Eric down on the bar. Aftr serving us, the barman then got a little shotglass and filled it with soda water for Eric, setting it down next to him and saying he was too young to drink!

    3. Kindness moves me like no other emotion. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience =)

    4. lol I like that "Too young to drink" story!

My grandpa said that to Marc one time when we were having drinks on the porch. It's really funny when people do that. XD

    5. Actually for me it wasn't doll related but I definitely got a free gift from a stranger. You know what the funny thing is? I was also given a polar bear! Maybe polar bear stuffed toys are meant to be gifts from stranger to stranger. <3

    6. What a fantastic story! The world needs more random acts of kindness if you ask me~ ^___^

    7. I totally agree xD
Everywhere Marc goes, the polar bear goes too! XD

I think small stuffed toys are a fun way to cheer people up. If I had a steady income, you bet I would be handing them out. XD

    8. awwwww, that's so nice!! ^^
it's great to know that kind people like that still exist

    9. Awhhh! <3

Now I want to bring my dolls with me everywhere! :D

    10. The only gift my doll has gotten was a kiss, but it was from a little girl who was soooooo cute! I'm pretty sure she didn't really want to give my doll back XD

    11. Renearla: I had something similar happen to me. It was a gift-swap game at a Holiday doll-meet, and the person whose gift I got had put a picture of a gift that was on order and a water bottle in a gift bag. She said she did it because the gift she bought for the swap hadn't arrived yet and took down my information so that she could get it to me when it arrived. I haven't seen or heard from her since and it was over a year ago. I know she's still active on DoA and even tried to start her own doll forum, but I don't think it's worth pursuing. It clearly hasn't bothered her since.

    12. i would feel appreciated and thankful and yet feel creeped out because I don't know whats in it

    13. That story is just too sweet!!! Some people are just so amazingly sweet. It makes me happy that people like that are in the world :)

    14. I haven't brought my two yo's around town recently, or my SD. I plan to bring them to a doll shop a few miles out that I saw on my way home from the doctors.

I still have that polar bear too! It hasn't left Marc's shelf. OuO

    15. I love stories like that! People can be so sweet sometimes. Maybe that lady went and bought a BJD of her own after seeing yours,I hope she did.

    16. Everyone out here thinks my dolls are porcelain. xD
But out here artist dolls and porcelain dolls are HUGE. She didn't really know about resin dolls (bjd) but was eager to know, and I know I made an impression. It would have been cool to see her again, and see if she did get herself one.

I know a lot of people out here love Marc. I need to bring my dolls out and about again. lol But I need a carrier. :I

    17. My hubby does this all the time lol. We'll go eat somewhere and if they have one of those claw machines he'll play because he's obsessed with them. He's pretty good too, so he'll usually win something and I'll look for a little girl to give it to (we have a daughter and she has him wrapped around her chunky little finger, so he has a soft spot for little girls). He's always so happy afterwards, he's such a sweetie :aheartbea

    18. I haven't had any experiences like this out and about with my dolls, but at a doll meet at Otakon the one person gave out little phone charms and mini erasers shaped like food. It was really sweet!

    19. Once I had a guy (in this hobby) make something for one of my dolls because he saw her on myspace and really liked her. He was learning to make doll clothes and offered to send her an outfit. I was shocked but it was very sweet of him. I accepted and in turn sent him a clothing item in return to thank him. :)

I do sometimes have friends give me little things to scale that might go with my dolls, it's very sweet to know they saw the tiny object and thought of me. :aheartbea

    20. Okay, THAT is super cool!!!! <3
