1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Reoccuring themes is your doll family?

Nov 17, 2015

    1. Oddly enough, I haven't seen too many redheaded dolls out there. But the ones I see definitely stand out!

    2. I noticed I tend to unconsciously pick "smiley" dolls, or at least ones that don't look grumpy? Some of them have a more subtle Mona Lisa-like smile, but they all look kinda content, at least...actually, Amriel (Impldoll Avery) looks nervous because of their factory faceup, but their sculpt is also the smiliest. I also really like sculpts with teeth, but none of my dolls right now had teeth at first (though I gave Amriel some through a quick mod).
I also keep trying to buy dark gray clothes for everyone, because I wear gray a lot myself. I look dreary enough on my own, I need to stop inflicting it on all my dolls too!

    3. Prominent noses, and either wacky eyebrows or no eyebrows at all.

    4. Most of my dolls have long pointy elf type ears. I like them so much, any new dolls will need to have them or I'll pass. I hope that sticking with this theme will reduce the amount of new acquisitions next year.

    5. I think I tend to gravitate toward dolls that look like they have a story to tell. I would love to have a super sweet cutie dolls - but every time I see a sculpt that has a bit more of a "been around the block/old soul" look to it - I can't resist. I guess the other theme I gravitate toward is mature looking dolls - so that might explain why I don't have any cutie pies; much as I love to look at them.

    6. I always find myself falling for boy dolls that look cocky or brooding, and so far, surprise surprise, all my boys look like that. And all my girls have the almost startled, wide-open eyed look to them. 3 of each type, currently, I'm curious to see what dolls I go for next, and if they'll fall into the pattern I only now noticed because of this thread.

    7. Luts-type noses! Not /just/ because my only two dolls right now are Luts, but dolls I'm waiting on also have that similar, pointy button nose. I'd also say similar eye shapes in my SDs. And then clothing themes are always not ending up how I had planned! My two dolls are supposed to be mori but they really haven't gotten there but I'm super happy in the clothes they're in. I hope I don't follow that theme for my future shironuri girl, I want to make sure she's my shironuri princess!

    8. Long (really long!) hair and somber/brooding/anxious/pensive-type expressions for the most part - although Scaramouche and her sisters, being Shiwoos, all have that infamous Shiwoo smirk. I also love tinies, but they have to have something of a fantasy element and not look too much like small children. None of my PKFs are children - they're either elementals or ghosts.

    9. I seem to have a love of black, in clothes and hair, and red. I also have many, many winged characters. All of them have wings of some sort: butterflies, moths, dragon wings, angel wings, you name it.

    10. Elf ears will definitely be a reoccurring theme in my future collection. As far as aesthetics and character designs go, I feel like they'll be coordinated, but will also vary depending on the character, type, and size of the doll.

    11. For some odd reason I have a thing for lips... and I didn't even realize this until my doll family had grown recently... but almost everyone has really plump lips, or their lips are super emphasized in their face-up

    12. Virtually all of mine are less realistic and have a more anime esthetic. Almost all of them are slender rather than bulky in build. My Unidoll Jace is the exception to both of these, he just barely fits in here! Luckily he is not too bulky.

All except two are between the ages of thirteen and thirty two years of age. My two MSD sized BJDs are about eight years old, and the only reason I have two is so the first one I bought won't be lonely. I really don't "do" child dolls.

The majority of my BJDs wear modern clothing and have realistic or more subtle faceups, but I do have one guy who wears kabuki style makeup and Japanese inspired clothes all the time. And most of mine are normal humans, but somehow four elves got in here! They don't wear extremely fantastic clothing though.

    13. I do have a reoccuring theme.

No one has a perfect life or past. Every character/doll has been shaped in a particular way due to events that have occurred to them.

Themes that continue to come in and out are macabre, grotesque, and vulgar themes.

Nothing is perfect in this world and most character's have their pasts.
