Resinsoul centaurs!

May 18, 2016

    1. You could make a Victorian crinoline as her skirt. It would kick up with each step, so she doesn't trip. There's also a similar style for a bustle.

Hopefully, it's ok to post this link. Crinoline or Hoop Skirt (PHOTOS)

    2. that's lovely El BJD :D There's a ton of inspiration for dressing these on the luts website (eluts), and the luts centaur/deertaur threads here too - they are such fun :whee:

    3. Been trying on a few outfits. The ruffled section in this dress is separate and could be removed for her back. I'll have to think about that, or make a similar piece.

    4. That looks really nice on her... I've been hemming and hawing on what to make next, I'm trying to make my girl a shawl but I tell you I'm terrible with shawls... IDK why. But yea.

    5. love the little ankle warmers El BJD :whee:

    6. Thanks, Lynn and elve! I need to make 2 more of those ankle thingys. :)

Here's a cape that works for Faunda as well. This dress and the cape are also thrift store finds.

    7. What the what?! I just now discovered these little cuties. They are adorable! Spring & Autumn are my favorites. I generally only collect MSD & larger dolls but I might have to make an exception :)

    8. I crocheted this outfit for one of my littlefees last year. Looks good on Faunda, minus the stripped leggings. :) Needed to post 2 pix to show with the cardigan.

    9. I was thinking that the rear half of the body would substitute for the bustle. A very long bustle.

Cute! I love the beaded anklets. With this picture, I wonder how well a petal skirt would work with this body shape.

What shape of shawl? For humans I like to knit shawls that are basically extra wide scarves. I always get frustrated with triangular shawls. Usually because I run out of yarn before it's a useful size.

    10. that cape's a great idea El BJD - she looks really cosy and elegant in it :whee: Crochet outfit is adorable :D love her name too - makes me think of Napoleon Dynamite every time I see it LOL

    11. Gosh these centaurs look so cool.

I think I finally settled on an idea for a future centaur. I want a black deer that I will paint all galaxy-ish. What I can't decide is if I want the human parts to also be black too. Maybe blue instead.

And then my centaur can match with my Pixiu which is a glitter dragon.

    12. Found this lovely dark silver dress on a Barbie at the thrift store the other day for $1.50 and the crinoline (probably for AG) for a mere $.10! Faunda seems pleased.

I wanted to show her hooves through the crinoline. :)

    14. DoA stopped sending me notices for this thread and I'VE MISSED SO MUCH D: So many adorable 'taur outfits!

    15. All right @El BJD , you did it. You convinced me to get one. It was your crochet that did it, really. That and the historically inspired costumes. I don't crochet but I do knit and I'm getting into a bit of a knitting spree right now. All the bits and bobs of fine-weight yarn laying around shall become deertaur clothes!

DDE has them in stock and I've been eyeing Autumn for a while now...

    16. Congrats! Can't wait to see your Autumn!

    17. She came!

That was a lot faster than expected. Ordered Saturday morning, got a shipping notice that afternoon, got her today, even with the holiday weekend. Took a lot of pictures today but I'm having trouble uploading my one allowed photo. Maybe I haven't been a member long enough. I'll try to set up a service to link pictures from later.

I'm in clothing production mode right now. Hopefully I can get some pictures up over the week. I'll also try to put up an unboxing for those who haven't gotten one and are curious.

Have others been having problems with them being tightly strung? Any suggestions for a girl without a hot glue gun (i.e. not sueding)?

    18. Well a hot glue gun isn't the only way to sued, but yes, I do have other suggestions. for starters...

Try pulling on the offending limbs to be sure the elastic isn't hung up somewhere. There are occasionally small balls of resin in the stringing path ways. Start off pulling one arm or leg out and away gently. Repeat on the other side. If one arm or leg pulls further or easier, pull on the other one more firmly to try and even the elastic out. If one arm or leg is way snappier, this will help fix it and it can loosen the strings ever so slightly if you're not ready to play with restringing.

If it's her arms that are the problem, dropping her stringing into her chest can help that a lot. Find the knot that goes through the arms and just take it off the s hook and let it down into the chest. I only suggest doing this if her arms are super snappy though cus it can make them super loose and then pulling the knot back up through the neck can be really hard. If you do this and her arms are then too loose, tip her torso apart and tighten the knot.

If the legs are what your problem is and tugging wasn't enough restringing or loosening the knot might be needed. Try loosening the knot in the head first then do the leg tugging to even things out. If that's not enough... and you're not comfortable with restringing... I suggest buying a low temp glue gun... If you are ok with restringing but not hot glue... Actual sued or silicon disks can be put in the joints to increase resistance.

Sorry if this is rambling and incoherent... I've got a sinus cold T_T

    19. This is all really helpful! Thank you! :abow:

I tried loosening the knots in her head but I didn't pull her limbs afterwards. Doing so did help a bit with the tension in her arms. Her arms have a couple more positions than straight at her sides or trying to hug her face, now. :celebrate I hadn't heard of dropping her stringing into her chest; I may try that if putting something in the joints doesn't help. I may try it anyway to make some more space on the S-hook in her head.

Her legs are still super tight, though. Every time I pick her up or move her slightly I have to spend a couple minutes getting her to stand again. It looks like they used a thicker elastic in the legs than in the arms. I am tempted to try restringing, but I would like more than about 6 hours of hands-on dolly experience before doing so. :sweat Maybe in a few weeks. In the mean time, you have given me plenty of food for thought.

Thanks again! I hope you feel better soon.

    20. Thanks for those ideas, Lynn! I haven't restrung any of my bjds as yet, although changing heads a few times might as well be called restringing as my helper (hubs of course) dropped the elastic more than once. Anyway, I use coated florist wire of various gauges to wire legs and sometimes arms. Works better than pipe cleaner. I finally have some kips so I'll be trying those soon.
