1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

Jan 29, 2021

    1. Right? The RBF, the skin tone, the ears... he would work so well! Too bad he's sold out, or I'd definitely have to consider it, especially with the crazy sale Ringdoll is doing right now. I'm currently trying to figure out which sculpt I want to buy (if any), or if I want to buy a mystery bag to leave it up to fate, because I'm so torn on what character I'd make into a BJD!

    2. Those lucky bags are so tempting!! But I'm not allowing myself to buy dolls i don't have plans for because they'll sit blank for ages ><

    3. Yeah, that's fair... my problem is that I don't have no ideas, I have too many! Maybe I'd just give the doll a relatively generic faceup so I can change the character depending on the eyes/wig.

    4. the only thing stopping me from jumping on a lucky bag is that I'm formulating plans to make myself a cozy winter tent dress based on Jan van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait and the material for that dress is easily going to more than a lucky bag (just the total yardage is going to be staggering, not to mention the fact that it's fully lined, and of course, I'll be adding a huge hood and pockets) I still may throw caution to the wind and pick up a lucky bag, but only if I manage to keep the dress fabric under $500...

    5. Ahhh what a great photo! He looks right at home! :D

    6. Thanks, he got a great welcome at the store. :XD:

    7. I fell prey to the lucky bag... lol. I selected the grown bag. I am super excited. Is there anyway to know which dolls are instock for the lucky bags or is there a secret stash of dolls?

    8. The dolls shown in the Black Friday Sale that are Basic Doll are part of the lucky bag.

    9. Not necessarily. One of the lucky bags we had gotten last year had Merlin and he wasn't available at all at the time.
The basic dolls currently in-stock are a mix of ones they've had available since earlier this year and newer in-stock. Some of the previously in-stock dolls are no longer listed, even though some still had several available before they were removed.
And, once, Ringdoll magically found an in-stock K they offered to me, so they might have a secret stash somewhere lol

    10. That was what I was thinking... which is great.. I didn't see one I'd dislike to own. Thank you SteamWitch for letting me know.

    11. Oooooh that us exciting as well.. a truly surprise doll doesn't hurt my feelings at all. Thank you LupusDarkmoon for sharing.

    12. adding to that my first lucky bag i got a kim who wasn't listed instock and was a a bit loosely strung and in an older skintone so i think they also have a stash of older dolls they might not be able to sell for full price go into the lucky bags

    13. They might be older display models used for shows?

    14. I dont mind if it was a display model as long as it's in good working order and not all beat up. Lol.. it is supposed to be new just instock so I am sure its going to be great. This will be my first Ringdoll Grown doll. I owned a kid Kyo when I first joined the hobby back in 2010ish he was a strange color compared to other dolls he was an old doll when I got him. The eye shape was really small but his point was good.

What do you all think about the posing of the grown dolls?

Do all the grown dolls take the same eye size or do I need to wait until it gets here to decide which eyes to buy?

    15. I use small iris 14mm in all of mine.

    17. Poseability depends on the body. I personally think the 02 is my favourite Grown body, but I've not really played too much with my 03 or 04's as much. I can certainly say the 04 doesn't slouch at all and the hip joint seems completely useless.

    18. I am not a fan of the rgm4 body; it's very difficult to get to stand on its own, and i'll second that the hip joint doesn't seem to do much other than catch on pants when i try to pose the doll

    19. i third the issues with the rgm4 body, i love it aesthetically i think it's beautifully sculped but neither of my boys can stand, their legs tend to pop out of the hip sockets when i move them and it's a trial getting them to sit up straight.
non of that bothers me to much though to be honest i am more into how they look then how well they pose

    20. Seeing that I got the blind bag I have no say over any of the options.. but I have had many dolls that are poor at posing and as long as the astetic is on point I can deal with the posing issues.

Does anyone have recommendations for clothing shoes and wigs?
