Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

They're cute!!

 

They're probably going to be reorganized shortly to make room for all of the other TGCF merch I got over the holidays, but for now, enjoy the distribution of big, medium, and small Xie Lian!

My danmei collection in general (though mostly TGCF) has taken over five Billy shelves already (this one shelf pictured counts as three since I had to take out two to make room for Xie Lian's height), and will be getting a sixth. Technically I may be able to slide another shelf above Xie Lian's head, but I don't think it would work out since it would only be a little above his head at the highest setting and I still need room for Hua Cheng.

 

@Alex Secord Designs OMG Xie Lian looks so cuteeee with those clothes, I want to make him so many clothes that I don't know where to start Now I see those boots he comes with can be handy for some outfits as well. Yeah if Hua Cheng gets in the mix it would take a lot of space so it won't be good to add the shelf. Can't wait to see what you're gonna do with Hua Cheng

 

Thank you! I was originally making him black boots for this outfit, but they didn’t work out, and at that point I felt too lazy to retry and decided the white boots worked well enough. Someday he’ll get those black boots! I’m super excited for Hua Cheng to come- I for sure want to make them cheesy couples outfits. Hopefully he’ll come before March so I can take him and Xie Lian on Spring Break for pictures…

 

I feel so much better about my own danmei merch hoard right now xD though honestly, most of mine is squirreled away in various places until I find places where it feels like it fits best lol. Those svsss shikishi boards are so cute!

I love that his boots work with that outfit too. It took me a minute to realise those were the ones he came with!

 

Thank you! I got the shikishi for pretty cheap on Ami Ami. Only a few bucks, and since I was combining shipping with bigger items anyway, I said why not! Most of my danmei collection may end up the same- I just don’t have room to display everything right now, especially all of the prints I recently got. We’ll see how I can reorganize things to make more fit!

 

Trying to arrange prints and pinboards is causing me the biggest problem right now too xD I need more walls lol

 

It has been *aaages* since I've been on DOA, but I took advantage of Ringdoll's holiday sale and ordered a fullset Kim. They shipped him yesterday and he's already in the States! I'm excited to see him. He'll be my first male doll, and my first doll in nearly 5 years.

Did you guys see the new Ashford 3.0? I just wanted to know like what is the obvious differences between the previous one and this one. I was checking him out with my sister and besides the cuter face there was nothing really out of the ordinary, I would say you get a cute doll either if you purchased the previous one or this one; I guess the only perks would be the 05-body, the PVC jointed hands that weren't expensive to begin with, and that he will be strung with aluminum wire if you want. The outfit is nice I guess is more similar to their recent style, the previous one was adapted to their old aesthetic, I remember their doll Sol, it was one of the first BJD that caught my eye when I was a teen. I had to look twice to tell the difference between the two outfits because when I saw the teaser I couldn't quite place what was so different from the previous one, which would be something positive for people who just bought the previous one in the last sale.

I think that maybe I'm just a little disappointed that there wasn't like a huge change(?) I mean you can tell apart Dracula from Dracula 2.0 right away each one is different, It's like watching different bosses from Castlevania, no surprise there since Ringdoll really likes Ayami Kojima

Sadly I'm not really into this military theme even though I liked the ancient-styled ones they made last year (Zhou Yu and Xun Yu Military Version are the ones I've liked but it's not something I would get as a priority), and this new version just didn't add anything, but Ashford3.0's faceup is cute tho, I give him that.

 

Unfortunately, my Hua Cheng (or Xie Lian) is still not with me.
But I want to take care of buying a red umbrella now. (This is not included in his full set.)
Can you please tell me what diameter the umbrella must have for Hua Cheng (Body Type: RGMbody-5) ?
Because I'm really unsure what diameter would be enough.

 

That is a really good question!!! I wish they'd included that, or offered it as a separate accessory we could buy T_T

 

My Hua Cheng hasn't arrived yet either but I was looking into this a couple of weeks ago, I don't know if you have already seen these posts on facebook but I am sharing them just in case,

So my Kim showed up today! He's very handsome and well made. But I am disappointed because I did not get a certificate/medal to prove his authenticity with. I'll have to email Ringdoll when I have a chance and ask them to send me one.

 

Ringdoll doesn't do paper certificates. I think the "certificate" is a metal or medallion right now. They've changed the design a couple of times, but it's not a paper CoA

 

There should be a plate inside the head with the sculpt number too

 

Yeah, I found it. The design is different from what I was expecting.

 

is it a laminated card with the number? I was losing my mind when I opened my Xie Lian and I couldn't find the military medal (that was the COA at the time), but then I remember I saw the card and the military medal wasn't their COA at the moment Xie Lian was released for the first time so I relaxed, I guess I will get the medal when Hua Cheng arrives, and if I get a new doll, it will be the ancient medallion they have now.
