1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

Jan 29, 2021

    1. Don't worry! This time, all Hua Chengs came without eyelashes. And yeah, that's because of the eye patch. I was wondering to put the eyelashes on... but I'm just too lazy...:sweat

    2. Same, I probably won’t bother to put them on because I suck at it. Tried to put eyelashes on my custom doll… looked so bad! Never again.

    3. everyone always says putting eyelashes is quick and easy, but I also (really) suck at it so it's nice to know I'm not the only one in this particular boat ;)

    4. I've gotten Ringdolls for 10 years and they have never put on the eyelashes.

    5. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one too! I saw all the comments like “oh, just a little white glue and they’ll stick on perfectly.” Well, a little white glue later, they were messy and didn’t even stay on completely. Maybe I’ll try again someday, but they looked sooo bad… the individual lashes also ended up stuck together by the glue, so I think all my custom dolls for now will have to be lashless. Probably for the best with the current project- he’s the Kim sculpt and because he has dark eyes (getting him new brighter eyes that will hopefully ship soon), dark hair, and dark eyebrows, the eyelashes were making his gaze too dark.

    6. Welp, now that I see that everyone is not too thrilled about putting them I won't punish myself for it lol, I feel quite lazy about the subject as well, I mean, It looks fine without them anyway, and if I get to dress him (Hopefully this month) I can take pictures of him with the eye patch with no problem

    7. After buying JN off of LupusDarkmoon, I now have two current doll projects! It's always a surprise to see how much money it takes to make dolls... I have everything for doll #1 and am just constructing him (though I am waiting on a new wig and eyes), while the other one is very much a work in progress. Haven't started on his faceup and probably won't until I finish the wigs- I had to buy base wigs, and then I'm working with a friend of a friend who's a cosmetology student to cut them into the right style. I've bought most of what I need for him (after an expensive custom fabric order), though I need to put together the money to get his sword printed... not having a 3D printer myself, I commission another friend to print the swords for me! The only relief is that both dolls use the same outfit pattern, so no worries there. If I make more customs any time soon, they'll likely be from the same series too, so that pattern is getting a lot done.

Who else has big doll projects going on? My major IB Art course is pretty much to the end of submissions, so I'll have time to work on my dolls during class! Hoping to get these boys done before summer, and eventually make them alternate outfits. These are my first completely custom BJDs, so it's both exciting and daunting.

    8. Just realised myself that I hadn't confirm HC had also arrived :love

Was confused with the jigsaw, pack of cards and cloth (going to make a great backdrop ;)) as my XL didn't come with any of these and XL came directly from Ringdoll (you would the first release would have the extras) would have been nice to have 2 backdrops

    10. @kyukyukyu I got both with Alice's Collection and they had their little extras, but Xie Lian didn't have cards as far as I know, just the puzzle and the blanket/banner? I opened Xie Lian's blanket because it arrived first and I was curious but since I didn't see much use for it and I didn't want it to get dirty I put it back in its bag

@Riku LIN You have it so organized and pristine  and at least your box is intact, when mine arrived it looked like somebody had punched it :horror:I was going to die, I thought something had happened to Hua Cheng and I was relieved when I saw that he was highly protected and nothing was damaged inside the box. Dressing it up was a rewarding experience :whee: and I'm impressed with how easy it is to change hands with Ringdoll body 05, they should implement the same system with body 04.
Side note, I couldn't manage to put the patch on Hua Cheng, I gave up after half an hour, the rest was a piece of cake, excellent fullset

    11. NuttyRojita, good to know he was not have anything broken^^
I not dressed mine yet, cos I want to glue eyelashes and to restring him. Ye their system with hands not so bad, but not wow (for me). I have DF-A/H or TD (dont remember correctly rn), but their hand system is better for me, u need just fix s hook in special spot and he will stay. At RD u need to put it into this little hole >.>

    12. Congrats to everyone who received Hua Hua, I will ask my shopping service about the extra gifts, because I didn't receive anything when he arrived in late september last year.

I got this gorgeous and sexy suit for my HC. Dianxia is very pleased :whee:

    13. Hmm that is strange that some people are getting extras and others aren't. I wonder if there's some kind of system for determining that.

    14. Finished my two first custom dolls!

Giyuu and Zenitsu from Demon Slayer with their tiny counterparts. Zenitsu was made second, which is pretty obvious from his faceup, which I improved a lot in! Zenitsu still needs his sword, and they both need shoes and socks, but I'm really happy, especially with Zenitsu!

Giyuu's sculpt is Kim, and Zenitsu's is JN. Worked perfectly for them! I'm hoping to take better pictures of them this weekend.

    15. @Alex Secord Designs OMG you went all out with them, so precious, they turned out beautiful :D did you have the costumes made? they look amazing; Zenitsu is my favorite kid of them all, really you made him super cute :whee:

    16. Thank you so much! I'm really so happy with how they turned out, even if they sunk a looot of money, haha. I made the costumes myself! I was able to find the fabric for Giyuu's pattern easily and had ordered it in the past, but had to make my own vector for Zenitsu's pattern to upload to the site and order to get the correct scale. I did pretty much everything but Giyuu's wig (which I'm not completely satisfied with but have no better option) and their eyes. Zenitsu's wig was a basic blond wig that I trimmed up and dyed, I'll probably do some more work to improve it at a later date.

    17. All these lovely men :drool:blush
I finally got to finish the faceup on my secondhand Boyce. He doesn't have a name yet but he fits in with my band of supernaturals.

    18. Oh there is some technique involved lmao, whoever said the eyelashes stick like magnets (LOLOL) might be using high tack glue like aleenes but never have those just plain old school glue! I always have to wait like 20 seconds before I put on the lash, then hold it in place with a toothpick/tweezer. I usually manage to attach them without issue in general--iirc minimal glue works best as having it very wet means itll move while setting and the lash will be wonky.

i am concerned with how I attach mine since I dont glue the band on the "waterline" like how normal lashes on humans (and dolls?)

Also riding the Hualian train and I'm thrilled to share that i finally got Xie Lian home and Hua Cheng couldn't be more happier!!! (Yes, I used the manhua tattoos instead of the ones Ringdoll sent...idk how to use them either omg!)

I also finally got the playing cards and the backdrop (its only one design right???)

    19. ooh they look great!! Where did you find tattoos with the manhua design?

    20. I just googled them (ie Hua Cheng Tattoo and Xie Lian Tattoo/Cursed Shackles) and chose the cleanest version or edited them in photoshop :eusa_sile
