Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

Your Xie Lian and Hua Cheng look really great!
Since yesterday my two dolls have finally arrived and united in my home, too.

It seems to me that there are Xie Lian and Hua Cheng bonus items. Because I received different card games, puzzles and backgrounds for both doll full sets.

 

I finally got him open and all put together, and he's so stunning! Unfortunately, he and Xie Lian can't stand right now, because Hua Cheng is too big for the stands I have and his penis broke the one I was using for him. So until I get a stand that can accomodate the size of this lad, they will have to sit.

He took a while to dress, but it wasn't difficult, just a lot of pieces. The metal pieces were so heavy and nice feeling, I was surprised when E'ming was plastic! His wig is also super soft, but seems prone to flyaways.

I got a stand from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087RRJP2H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which had worked perfectly on Xie Lian and those on RGM-4, but when I tried on Hua Cheng, he's a little too wide. Thinking about it now, I heard his junk was magnetic and could be removed, but I don't feel like trying again with that, haha.

I think I'll have to buy the RGM-5 stand from Ringdoll, but DHL shipping is so expensive for a small item, so I might hold off for now since soon I'll be taking time off of work for surgery and need money for other things.

 

I ordered a Lexi fullset from them and he has eyelashes. Maybe the eyelash depends on the doll...?

 

I'm so immature and my brain just went "that's some tough genitalia Huahua got!" Please excuse me as I die in my own terrible thoughts.

Kidding aside, I've used the smaller stand from Ringdoll for Huahua and he balanced well without his legs getting battered lol. I think the adjusting mechanism being a screw instead of a clip is much more effective.

I managed to order them stands via Taobao so it was a lot cheaper to ship. I wonder if its cost efficient to do group orders of the stand for where you are?

I also honestly love the stands I have but I was surprised at the size of the (newer?) stand for 75cm dolls from RD as I saw one at my doll meet last weekend.

That robe is gorgeous and are those flowers on his belt????

It is! The stand was already a little weak, but it was a little ridiculous!

Since the RGM-5 stand is only $1 more, I may just eat the cost tbh. Were you able to order from Ringdoll's Taobao without a proxy? I've found that the shipping fees for Superbuy are usually ridiculous, so if I can order directly from Taobao, that would be awesome.

Thank you, and those are! I made the outfit for him myself, and I'm still pretty happy with it. I want to make him more clothes, but I think my other dolls need some attention first, since Xie Lian already has plenty of outfits. The wig is for sure a pain, this is my second wig because the first one got messed up.

Edit: Wow, going to Taobao and checking out the price for three normal stands and one RGM-5 stand... only 351.82 yuan before US shipping!! That's an amazing price! I'll have to buy from there.

I have other friends recommend TD stands--they are full metal. But imho, RD is the best one i've seen--pretty light, is compact and is suitable for easy display, i'm glad i asked about it a few months back!

on the topic of Xie Lian, did everyone, early release and current owners get his hair with the ribbon glued to the wig? the job done was so uneven on mine and one side.... before I got to cutting the too long lside, i tugged it and basically made a mess of XL's hair,
i swear, I would happily re-style the hair myself but why did they decide to use glue on the hair ribbon??

 

Agreed! Less than half the price. It took a while to access Taobao (I couldn't for the last year), because they didn't like taking my US phone number for an account. They finally did, though.

Yeah, his ribbon came glued to the wig, but mine has come unglued for some reason. I agree that his hair is soooo messy if you touch it once... I find myself just having to cut off all of the flyaways, because if I touch them wrong, the entire bun will get lopsided. My old wig of his, I undid everything and washed it, I might try to see if I can style it. I'm not a good stylist though so I doubt it, that wig may just end up a "hair down" wig.

 

That's cool, neither my fullset Sol, Ronald or Judge of Hell came with eyelashes installed. Could be it is the faceup artist.

 

On the topic of the stands, does anyone know the weight of the default and RGM-5 stands? I saw an estimate that final US shipping from the warehouse is 85 RMB for the first .5 kilos, and 47 for each next .5 kilos. I want to try to calculate final price.

 

Hey everyone, So I was wondering if someone with a doll who is on the RGM-5 body could help me with measurements -
And I mean a lot of measurements, 37 to be exact. There's this website that is called freesewing.org , and apparently it can handle doll measurements!

Unfortunately, Ring doll's website measurements are too few and too vague, so I can't put them in. I'd measure the doll myself but uh- i only got a set of heeled feet.

I bought a bunch of fabric and I'd love to get a start on making clothes for him. I wouldn't be surprised my boy shows up (Ma Chao full-set) some time later May -June. All the measurements I can use to try and make a dress form too, which if goes well I have no issues sharing that on the Forums too!

I know it's a bit of an ask, because it'll require a nude doll, but if you're changing clothes or have yet to put on clothes on your doll, I would be very grateful to get those measurements.

Might post this request someplace else + in it's own forum too.

 

The RGM5 stand is 460g. Measured it with my kitchen scales.

I will also be saving this, very useful! I have measurements for RGM4 down pretty well and several default patterns that I modify as needed, but I'm not as experienced with the RGM-5 yet and I refuse to take Hua Cheng's clothes off until I have something finished for him- those clothes were a pain in the ass to put on with all of the details!

I can't remember who in a DoA discord server posted about this site. I'll say in there that other people appreciate the website, and I'm sure they'll answer.

And as for it being in CM, even though I'm US, with this scale cm is preferable tbh, so I'm grateful for that too.

 

Ahhh since the Q was answered, OMG I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS LINK. AMAZING AMAZING. This would be so good for pattern drafting I couldn't be more thrilled!

 

I have the Xie Lian re-release doll. The hairband is also glued to my wig.
I'm afraid that sooner or later I'll ruin Xie Lian's hair. Although that wouldn't bother my Hua Cheng.

 

Hua Cheng will happily go bald just protect Dianxia's forehead lmao!
To be honest. I don't mind XL's hair going undone, but that nasty bit of glue on the hair and the ribbon won't go and would be there to haunt me T_T

 

When I undid my first XL wig, I was able to get the glue out with vigorous washing. My second XL wig, which the ribbon has randomly come unstuck from despite originally being glued, oddly doesn’t show too much residue. So if you wait long enough, I guess the ribbon may decide to give up…
