1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

Jan 29, 2021

    1. I never really checked on mine, but yes it is glued! Mine is from the first release, and I just saw some of the stitching for the hairstyling itself and assumed the ribbon was sewn too. I just checked and not only is it glued, it's glued in two different pieces- the part wrapping around, and the bow on mine isn't even glued to that part, but his bun. The tails are also uneven on mine, but that doesn't bother me so much as realizing they glued it to his hair ><

    2. I wonder if heating it a little bit using a hair iron would soften the glue and keep the hair unaffected.....

Now I want to attempt it

    3. Can I still have hope Ringdoll will also do SVSSS so that they would complete the MTXT trio? Or is this going to be left out again. :( Please Ringdoll

    4. It seems like Ringdoll's partnership was with the companies that made the MDZS and TGCF donghuas, soo, maybe? if the svsss season two ever gets dropped and does really well?
I wouldn't count on it though, tbh. SVSSS seems to get the least amount of attention and merch in general

    5. I agree that I wouldn't count on it. I love SVSSS as well, and would love dolls of them, but it's probably unlikely. It also looks like SVSSS was by a different company (Tencent instead of Bilibili), so Ringdoll would have to set up a deal with Tencent if they wanted to try SVSSS, and chances are it wouldn't be profitable for them. It's more likely that they'll go with another larger danmei, such as 2ha if anything.

    6. MDZS was through tencent as well i believe, at least that's what's listed on other MDZS merch.

    7. Ah, you're right- I'm not as into MDZS's donghua and thought it was through Bilibili. My mistake! Either way though, SVSSS is definitely unlikely, especially with the rumors that it will only be aired in Japan due to censorship issues in China.

    8. SVSSS is my favorite of the 3 but I very much doubt that Ringdoll considers it a franchise worth investing in, the last news I got was yesterday, related to the promo for the broadcast of the first season subtitled in Japanese (the arrival of the 2nd season still seems distant...) personally I would die to have those two, although I know that I will be quite demanding with respect to the final design of each of the two because both have various aesthetic adaptations and there are styles that I like but they are not always aligned. Everything will depend on the wigs because I know for sure that the entire budget will be invested in the outfit of the two.

I showed my sister the last doll Ringdoll put on display, Lu Su, because his face is the one I liked the most from the ones released this season, and she told me "It's the closest thing to Shen Qingqiu you will ever get from them" lol his face looks too kind to be him, although it can be deceiving; but you either are mean looking like Shen jiu or cool but internally screaming like Shen Yuan, there are no middle points. I will pray for a miracle, c'mon Ringdoll, don't you want to give us the complete collection? :sneaky

    9. Yeah, the fact that they really don't have a solid design is also an issue I didn't realize. With TGCF and MDZS, different adaptations have slight differences, but nothing as major as with SVSSS which can't decide on what they want to do between the adaptations. If the second season gets popular, maybe it could happen, but I really doubt it'll happen unfortunately. Especially since lower budget figures like anime scales and Qing Cang figures haven't been made of SVSSS, unlike all of the various merch that's been made for MDZS and TGCF, which means that making SVSSS would be even more of a gamble without data showing that it'll sell well.

    10. Hmm, there have been nendos and a few Minidolls for Bingqiu, so they could use those designs if it ever happened. It's the least popular of the 3 though, so the second season would have to do really well for it to even be considered i think. MDZS and TGCF got really popular because they were released internationally. Right now the only way to watch SVSSS is to be a member of tencent's youtube channel, so it doesn't have the reach of tgcf and mdzs, which were both release on international streaming platforms in some form (the untamed for mdzs on netflix, and funimation and netflix simulcasts for tgcf)

    11. If they did dolls of SVSSS, my wallet would be ruined :drool
I prefer this story over the other two, and the lack of merchandise is disheartening.

Even though there is a canonical design for WWX, personally I feel like the bjd of him didn't fully express his potential.

    12. I actually thought of the same thing. I've seen dolls that would make great candidates so I was thinking of patiently waiting or just make them - commission the face up and clothes.

    13. Got my doll stands in from Taobao (for significantly cheaper than Ringdoll's website, albeit getting my card stolen in the process...) and got Hualian set up! Wow, I knew Xie Lian was big, but Hua Cheng has such a crazy presence! He's also so heavy compared to Xie Lian...

I don't yet have anywhere to put Giyuu and Zenitsu, even though I got them stands, so I'll probably have to wait until I move out and into my condo to let them stand. For now, they sit in my sewing room. Hopefully I'll get around to taking nice pictures of them this weekend.

The weird thing is that I uploaded the BJD Demon Slayer outfits onto my Etsy, and Aniplex sent me a copyright claim... I still got a commission for them that I took off Etsy and onto email, but can't decide if I'm flattered or pissed!

    14. All of your Hua Chengs are wonderful! :love
However, please be careful with that eyepatch he comes with, because it will stain him :( (mine got a little stain on too on his eyebrow because of it).
On another note, I got my Armored Zhou Yu and he is gorgeous, the only thing that I noticed, is that compared to Hua Cheng or Zhao Yun, his head is smaller. In other words, in proportion to his body, his head looks a little bit smaller unlike he other two (who are the same height). When I noticed this it made me literally lol because it reminded me of the body proportions of old school bl mangas . He is cute though, although I couldn’t figure how to put his helmet on because I was scared of scratching him, so he is wearing his wig instead.

    15. Yeah, I'm not putting Hua Cheng's eyepatch on because of that. If I choose to, it won't be until after it's soaked for a long time to hopefully remove excess dye. Though the shape is also a little lopsided on mine, so it didn't look quite right when I tried to put it on to see how it'd look- that made the decision not to use it a little easier.

Interesting! Is his head more in proportion with dolls like Xie Lian on the smaller bodies, or somewhere in between? Because when I got Hua Cheng, I was surprised by how large his head felt after handling the Kim and JN heads for a while during repaints, but it is in proportion with his body so I'm glad it's that big.

    16. May have to do with the fact that Zhou Yu was made for body-3 on his first release, and ever since they made body-5 the heads began to mold to a size corresponding to that body. I suppose that for his version with body-5 they did not make any modifications.

    17. Oh dang, he's.....a reverse pin head?? D:

I already find his head small for the 03 body and....much as I hate to say this and I enjoyed his head sculpt as it were, I finally let him go. I'm surprised he got released as an 05! (My fault, I was so over him at that point, i didn't check.) I really liked his costume too. If only RD actually made his head bigger, like Hua Cheng bigger, it would've saved me a lot of heartache with Zhou Yu. and I would've gladly reshelled him to his bigger self. Alas, it was not meant to be </3

    18. On another note, has anyone tried using a 1/3 sized heeled foot designed for female bodies on the 04 male body? Like those 7.5cms foot length?

Its driving me nuts that i can't seem to find shoe makers (or have found one but sizing and time to customize the boot I actually want) for RD's or for any uncle/70cm sized doll for that matter. I bought RD's foot thinking it'd be around the 8cm size (ie, same as the DF-H and Popo 68 size) that would've given me a little bit more options. But alas, its a 9.5cm heeled foot they sent me lol.

    19. I spent a bunch of time making shoelasts of the heeled feet I have so I don't have to worry about it.

For some reason things suddenly get a lot more difficult to find once they go over 70cm

    20. Discontinuation notice for fullsets, Ringdoll? Really?? And Cryan will be discontinued in every sense of the word :horror:

This gives me a headache, I was thinking of spending money in the other half of the year, perhaps in winter sales, and they come to me with this, I am seriously thinking of giving these fullsets a funeral in my heart, but it hurts me a lot that Cryan, that is my favorite of the lot, they are not even going to continue selling him is his basic doll form, I am in shock.

There are at least 3 that I imagined I was going to buy in the long run, 4 if I'm being unreasonable...

It's such a waste, there are super beautiful sets here. I can't believe they are gonna get rid of them; last time didn't hurt me this much, the only doll I cared about was Xian Zhao and I think his fullest wasn't available anymore when he got discontinued, so it was pointless to get him for me anyway.

I'll sit and think what I'm going to do, ultimately I could do a long layaway with BJDivas for Cryan, but honestly I shouldn't
