Me too! I think it's a 6 month-ish wait so that would put him to me in June or July.

Does anyone have any advice on the best anime style wigs that'll fit Ringdoll adults? I have a few that I commissioned from someone, but they're in mohair and I feel like they don't look great, so I'd love to get some better wigs for my boys. I feel like the problem is that I have specific characters in mind with specific hairstyles, so it's a little difficult to find what I'm looking for. I worry that their wigs look cheap next to my Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, who have such nice wigs.

 

Hmm I don't really know much about wigs (wigs are the bane of my doll customizing experience lol) but it could be the way the mohair ones are styled that makes them not fit in with the hualian ones. Since mohair is a natural fiber and hualian's wigs are a synthetic (i'm assuming nylon of some kind but don't know for sure) they're going to behave very differently and need different things to be styled, and the individual strands are on a different scale. it could be the ones you have need a different way of being brushed or a different styling product in them to lay the way you want and look neat, if that makes sense?

 

That's true! I feel like the thing that bothers me the most when I look from a distance is that the mohair is so matte looking compared to the synthetic hair, it doesn't have that pretty shine. I may consult my textiles professor on advice on how to make mohair shinier, haha.

 

Since mohair is just hair, you could probably use some kind of shine spray that you'd use on your own hair to add some shine to it.

 

Ringdoll brought all its powerful sculpts this Christmas, I died again when I saw that they are selling Zhou Yu my oldest ringdoll grail, but too expensive for me, this Christmas has me bankrupt with all the typical expenses of the holiday. I like the Chen Si but my favorite version is the Akuro version, not the Jiangshi, I don't want to have a rindoll with white resin, it wouldn't be useful to me. Sun Ce is my sister's grail, but I don't know if she likes the Tianba version enough...

Will this be another Christmas in which I close my eyes and feign dementia? Zhou Yu and Sun Ce would always be popular right? I need them to be popular so they can come back

 

Did everyone see the new mature 1/4 body they previewed they've shared?

 

It looks like a scaled down version of the RGM5 body

 

Looks pretty cool, I had not seen it. I would be interested but are they going to sell mature heads on that scale too?

 

Yeah I wonder if they're just scaling down some of the rgm5 boys for this or making all new sculpts

Yeah the new body looks nice! But I'm not into 1/4 so that'll be a pass for me, whatever they release. Will be super weird next to those 69, 71, 75, 78 boys i have. XD

Has anyone noticed that Ringdoll posted about a potential Frankenstein version 3 on their Instagram? No photos or concepts yet, but there's quite a few comments asking for the re-release of version 1.

 

Not only that, Ringdoll also asked customers on Instagram what themes or dolls they would like to see in the future.
I'm excited (my wallet, not so much ) to see what they'll come up with soon.

 

If they do release a third Frankenstein I might be doomed. Though I'm still holding out for the Knum sculpt they teased back in 2016.

 

Ringdoll should have released some new Shingeki no Kyojin dolls for the ending that premiered this year, I had high hopes for that welp, they made new versions of Wangxian so who knows, It may be something that is still on the table.

I have RD Hua Cheng in ws . his outfit is a work of art but to me his face is NOT Hua Cheng.
his eyes are too small and so are his lips. his lips should be longer and not so full.
I need a different head that looks more like the anime or another doll all together. it just doesnt look like him.
am I the only one that thinks this?
also the head is a little small for the huge RGM 5 boy body.
as a doll he is beautiful but he is not Hua Cheng. not by the anime standards anyway.
I need more realistic to what the anime version would be if he were real.
just need other opinions on this

 

Well I have RD's Hua Cheng in normal skin and I like his features, the prototype they did like a year earlier I didn't like it because he looked a little haggard but the final product ended up being different, and handsome, so I took it, now this is because I like Ringdoll's bishonen type of sculpts based on Ayami Kojima's Castelvania art style, It is some kind of "realistic" but stylized; now if you're looking for a more anime style sculpt this brand doesn't get too experimental unless they are copyright dolls like the ones they did for Kuroshitsuji and Shingeki no Kyojin but again, it's no everyone cup of tea. Maybe you can look another brand like IOS (Immortal of Souls - 구체관절인형 Company '아이오에스' ) they do a lot of sculps that are more anime-like.
