1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #9

Jan 29, 2021

    1. I made a thread in the customization section but I’m also commenting here to see if y’all have any input, I got Guo Jia for Christmas and he’s stunning, he came with his default faceup which is nearly perfect for the character except for the eyebrows. I was wondering if anyone knows if I could remove the eyebrows and leave the rest of the face in tact? My plan was to use alcohol as usual on just the eyebrows and then smooth out any sealant imperfections between removed eyebrows and the rest of the face with a magic eraser, but I don’t know if that’d be possible. I also need to add a couple of scars, but I’m not as worried since I can just add those directly on top of the paint.

I’m also considering removing his eyelashes. I really love eyelashes on dolls, but my other Demon Slayer dolls don’t have 3D lashes (I struggled to put them on too much), and because this doll will have white hair I worry that black lashes would be jarring.

    2. hi,hi NuttyRojita.
I want a head that is realistic but still has Hua Chengs personality. I started watching the anime a year ago and love it.
there was a realistic head on the market almost a year ago that was totally Hua Cheng.. larger narrow eyes and a lpnger mouth ..something like IOS Sebastian Michales limited ed mouth but I never imagined I would own a Hua Cheng so I dont know what sculpt it was.
as pretty as this RD Hua Cheng is he doesnt have his personality ..not as I see him.
its just my preference. I am certainly not disrespecting any one elses choice as they see him.
      I like opinions from others.

    3. If you're considering something else, perhaps giving him a different faceup might help before a different head entirely? Since you already have the head, it could be worth a shot to see if the faceup is making the sculpt work less well for you. I'm personally not a fan of some of how they did the faceup; I find the way the lips were done a little strange, but it doesn't bother me to the point I want to alter his faceup, at least not at the moment. I find the RGM5 body more annoying frankly. It's just not well engineered.

    4. Changing one part of the faceup but leaving the others *could* be done, but it's very tricky to get the edge of where the previous sealant was removed blended nicely with the rest of the faceup. There's a tutorial on the forum somewhere of fixing a chipped faceup that had good information on trying to blend those edges out, but I'm not sure I could find it again, and the eyebrows are a much larger area than a chip.

    5. Do you remember if it was a head from a company or if it was from an artist? where did you see it? on Instagram/FB or the marketplace?
It could be something that works differently for every faceup artist, like you don't see that those sculpts can work out, but sometimes they pop up with different faceups, like this YC doll or more anime-like Hyeon from Kim nong / MARS , or the an sculpt from soom idealian Hwain
Other sculps that are used for fictional characters like Ize-Stage or hierophantmori
You can also check out the faceups from misheng825, they always make popular fictional characters with plenty of sculpts.
If you don't get the head that you had seen in the past you will have to start a new hunt :sweat the outfit Ringdoll made for Huacheng is fabulous, if you find a head you like, any BJD would look great on it hahaha

Everyone has different visions for fictional characters so you don't have to feel like you're making anybody uncomfortable, for example I didn't like the new versions of Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxiang Ringdol came up with, because they were too similar to the actors from The Untamed version and it was creepy for me. There are even other sculpts that they made that I find more similar to other characters than the copyright ones so everyone has their vision.

    6. AHHH! the Chiye head or Hwain head look so much more Hua Cheng to me.
where can you buy them at?
it was here on DOA that I saw the head. it was the perfect image of the Hua Cheng looking lovingly at Lian in the fist seasons opening credits. it was so perfect..
I went back a thousand pages in the sold doll list..I do not see him.
I really need to find the not typical doll sites because the doll sites features are all starting to run together.
thank you for showing me the pretty boys.
oh and yes his outfit would be awesome on another thinner body if I can find a whole doll instead of just a head.

    7. hi Quilleth,
thank you for the advice but his lips are just way too small.
I like leaving the lips uncolored in the past to help with a look but this face just is not my Hua Ceng .
I dont know of a miracle faceup artist here in the US either..I really love Hua Cheng to

    8. Well, I guess we’ll find out what happens! If worst comes to worst it’s not a massive loss- I love the factory faceup, but my mom didn’t pay extra for it since Ringdoll offered the upgrade to faceup for free when they didn’t have the basic doll, so no money lost. I guess I’ll just experiment. I did once add a small modification to my Xie Lian doll when his faceup got damaged on a trip and I was able to blend the sealant well, but that was also a fairly small chip.

I briefly wondered about painting over the brows with skin colored paint, but I assume that wouldn’t look good since it’d risk the paint getting chunky.

    9. Hmm, if your goal is to remove them entirely, and you have a good color match, you might be able to paint over it, if you can thing your paint enough and are careful about following the brows. It might still look a little odd because they generally use pastels and blushing in the area. Without sealing over it though, you would risk it flaking off though.

    10. Yeah, unfortunately I need to cover them pretty much entirely since the character has very small eyebrows, as well as white hair. I’ll definitely seal it though. I’ll probably try to see if I can get a color match by testing against the headcap. If not, I’ll stick to the original plan of trying to remove them.

    11. Oh no, another 'Heaven Official's Blessing' doll has been announced by Ringdoll on Weibo and Instagram. :aeyepop:
Which character could that be? Does anyone have an idea? :? :sweat

    12. It's tagged as Xie Lian, and the sword looks like Fangxin, so my guess is his Fangxin Guoshi design, since that's also the newest version we've seen in the donghua, which is what they've been basing the designs on.

    13. Once again sobbing that the outfits and accessories aren't sold separately for people who've already gotten another version, like they did with teen LWJ's outfit recently, personally. Like i couldn't get the last version either, but I'd absolutely pay for his outfit and accessories if they'd released them separately :(

    14. There’s no way, how many Xie Lian dolls do they need?? Ahh, if it was San Lang I’d feel fine since I wouldn’t want him as much, but I looove his Fangxin Guoshi design, and I missed the Crown Prince doll… mm, this just isn’t fair. Ringdoll is taunting me.

    15. I'm not positive though, since the edge of the outfit in the edge of the image is all white, so it might just be that they're releasing Fangxin as an accessory? It's not his basic outfit or his Taizi Dianxia outfit from what I can tell, unless it's that outfit without some of the various layers. His Fangxin Guoshi design is mostly dark robes, so I'm not sure what the outfit is

    16. I saw that, I wasn't sure if it was meant to be Ruoye, but it does look like the fabric. In the Instagram comments, though, they said "you'll see" when someone asked if it was a guoshi version. Come on Ringdoll, you can't keep doing this to my heart! You can't make three Xie Lian dolls when I can only have one!

    17. I'm already crying about it T_T Going to live vicariously through everyone who can afford to get them all like some kind of tgcf pokemon xD

    18. Ringdoll is being too cruel not letting us get the outfit. The prince outfit wasn't something I expected but I let it go quickly thinking oh well, they need to make money, and it wouldn't be smart to sell just the outfit when we can sell them the same doll again, surely all those people who didn't take it the first time will come (and they did), I didn't have money in Xie Lian's first release, and the 2nd release was open for 3 days only, wasn't fair (and I bought it anyway), so when they released again Xie Lian but with the prince outfit it was a good thing they did, I let it go, but geez "Next time please sell the outfit as well in some other release" I thought. Now they just want to do it again and is so sad because they could do wonders with the Fang Xin Guoshi and they are not going to sell it separately lol. I was the one who asked on Instagram and was told "you'll see" aghh

    19. It's just frustrating that they sometimes sell outfits, sometimes not and there's no apparent rhyme or reason to it. Especially after they did the thing with teen LWJ where you could buy that outfit if you'd bought one of the other dolls- they could sell a bunch of the outfits and accessory packs if they'd let us do that for the people who can't get every single fullset doll in the series.

    20. I love his Fang Xin Guoshi outfit in the donghua, so it makes me sad too. I prefer to dress him in clothes I make anyway so I'm really just coping, if I could afford to buy every Xie Lian I would but unfortunately, tis the life of a college student. The new doll I got was a Christmas gift, I didn't even buy him myself haha.
