Sartoria J Design Group - Part 2

Nov 22, 2020

    1. SJ sells only full dolls now, and unfortunately Mattias was a limited release doll that they said would not be release again. Just recently they added basic ones that you can buy 24/7. But as you will see not Mattias.

    2. I wonder why they decided not to remake Mattias. I was not going to buy any more dolls as the time it now takes to get them is so long. I did however get Mattias. The best option now is to assume all of the dolls are one offering and that's it. Not sure I'm fond of that idea or not........

    3. Hello !!!! I really need some help with Sartoriaj amber beige skin . Does anyone have ATstudio wheat skin for comparison with Sartoriaj amber beige skin . I want the Zeus amber body to suit with Auriga head . I really hope that someone will help me . Thank you

    4. SJ on instagram posted new photos of their new dark skin tone, 3 dolls.

    5. The new carob skin is gorgeous.

    6. I was eager waiting for the new post-apocalyptic gear after seeing the teasers on Instagram, seeing as I have some dolls from that theme, but 110 USD for a pair of basic grenades is a bit too much for me, sadly. The new skintone looks gorgeous though! Not my cup of tea as someone who hybrids every doll, but the faceups look very real on it.

I also noticed SJ raised prices pretty drastically. A faceup (by the looks of it made by Barbiefinger who's their main artist these days) on any of the new dolls in any skintone is 150 USD, while when I bought my Vittoria a year ago, Barbiefinger faceups were still 75 USD. Also, a very simple black acrylic paint chest tattoo costs $100 and that doesn't even include chest blushing. Blushing's an extra you have to buy for $55. Eyes by Ornella (the "real eyes") now cost $60 while the same ones directly at Ornella are $35 a pair for any custom colour, plus you get a free second pair for any order. :o I get that this is a luxury hobby, but...

    7. @vauhtikatti yes, I seen that as well and thought it's bit overpriced for simple tattoo or blushing. eyes as well bit expensive...
And face up around 200$ .... who makes they own face up its best to buy blank doll.

    8. I'm sorry of disappointed in the Fifth Season set so far (having not even noticed the price increases!) I kind of wish it pushed that science fiction feel a little more...these just have a strong military vibe to me...maybe because the colors are reminiscent of camo and the pants look sort of camo.

I like the new skin color thou!

    9. I admit to being totally confused about how SJ are releasing their "Limited Edition" dolls.

I know they have said recently that they are releasing them one and done...BUT...Matias was a "Limited Edition" and they offered him again one other time...didn't they? [IMG] And of course they then made a mini version of him as well. (When at first they said they were not going to.)

Do they mean not releasing as in not as a full-set with outfit and props? Or not with a particular faceup? Or never released again at all?

If you look under 1/3 dolls...you see Matias...but not Derek or Raphael...You have to go to the "Limited Dolls" drop down menu to see them (Derek and Raphael)...but there in that section Matias doesn't appear! And now when I click on standard dolls Matias appears...[IMG]

      Sigh....

I have a Matias and love him. I'd like to maybe get a Derek or Raphael sometime in the future...so I've been trying to pay attention...but I'm more confused than ever.:XD:

    10. @luluna @vauhtikatti I agree. What gives with Sartoriaj all of a sudden? I was wondering if he sold the company or took on partners. This just proves that buying when you see something makes sense even if you have to stretch a bit. I usually don’t take loans, but for this hobby…I do.

Maybe Jay has so much demand he is playing only to the bigger spenders. I still love his products, especially the Mintonette line.

Also, @luluna, I told Dollshe I needed my money back for Diana because it was over two years wait. She arrived the next week, terribly badly strung but with ballet feet, multiple heads and hands as well as the standard heel feet. They swore it was a color they rarely poured and the gates were obvious but I decided that that really is part of the fun. One of these days she will take a trip to Oregon to be properly strung. Or maybe I’ll do it. It can’t come out worse than it already is, LOL.

I realize I’m talking about other doll lines but I kept seeing footnotes that prompted new thought.

    11. Love the new skin tone, though I have opinions about a lot of these companies choice to have darker skintones for military/fighting series, and not for fantasy or normal ones.

Nadia is very tempting but not sure if I want to spend $900 on her haha.
I know darker skin tones are an added cost but $210 feels steep.

    12. @Frillseeker I scrolled through my order history from last summer, and it seems everything has jumped up except for the base price of the dolls (even though I agree with Wittyilynamed, 210 extra is a lot for a tan compared to the likes of Iple +85 for dark brown or +123 for ebony, even if SJ's new skin is gorgeous).

The real eyes last summer were $50 (now 60), the Elf Naomi set was 120 (now 152), the extra hands were 42 (now 45, okay that's still moderate). Everything with the exception of resin and shoes in my purchase history now costs a lot more in just a few months, and the new stuff they introduce like the grenades are just insanely priced. But, judging by how many names are on their annual holiday event gift list of "spends 5k - 20k annually on SJ products", I guess they have enough big spenders that this will slip.

And I agree about the "buy when you see it". Often when I waited for a "better moment" to buy, the thing just got more expensive in the meanwhile. I still remember the covid shipping mess when I was planning an Iple order, but the shipping jumped to 180 USD for two SD dolls. I decided to wait, and ended up paying 280 USD for the shipping a year later. :XD:

    13. Fifth Season does nothing for me (I don't care for military dolls) and $210 for a skintone is just too much. :(

    14. @Frillseeker - I agree! With SJ last holiday sale...I was so tempted by so much. I still purchased two dolls (one being a MSD) but I also really liked Derek and Raphael...but just couldn't swing any more. I didn't event buy anything from Iple. (First time since I started collecting.) So, if they (Derek & Raphael) being "Limited" are not offered ever again...that would be a shame.

I really like Nadia she reminds me of Elle. :) I wish I would have received my Elf Serena or a holiday purchase on the MTN body...so I would have an example of it in hand before I purchase any more.

And Congratulations for finally getting your Diana! I'm into three years wait now....but feel if I try to cancel (with my luck) she would then finally ship. I do bug BJDivas every now and then about her....sigh.

While I'm here....a photo of one of my Matias heads...the open mouth version (on an Athletic Body) whom I call Danill.

    15. Now that is a SPECTACULAR doll!! Wow!! Is he the default faceup?

      • x 1
    16. @Ardent - Thank you ever so much! Yes, he has a default faceup...it's glorious! Kudos to the SJ faceup artists! :)

    17. @luluna and @Frillseeker,

At this point, I'm at a loss on what SJ is doing or will do with their dolls. They keep changing their minds on what is limited and what is not.

I hope they will make Derek a MSD, but who knows.

I believe Mattias was offerered once as a SD ( I could be mistaken, tho) and then one more as a MSD, which was nice because they had indeed said, they would not make him smaller. So, reason why I hope Derek may end up being MSD.

But it is best to get them if you really want them, when they are out. Since who knows when we may see them again or at all.

Boo hoo. I still mourn for my JUDE. Still sad they discontinued him. He still is my over all favorite sculpt of their s. I would have loved it if he would have become one of their standards since he was the first one that they came out of the gate with when they decided to go with producing dolls, and not only outfits and assessories.

and I love seeing your Mattias @luluna.

ps I did see the increase for their face up, but I thought it cost more because Darker colors are harder to face ups. Most artists will not work with it because of issues associated with that kind of color/ ebony/ dark skin.

    18. I may be resigned to having SJ be just a clothing/wig company for me, as much as I love Demian and missed him, I just can't mentally fit any of their dolls into anything so rip me ig.

    19. Just curious here, are you referring to their Zeus body? Because they also have an ATH body that to me, had more of a swimmer's build than muscle builder. My Demian is on that one.

    20. They really do have the best in-house faceup artists. I think that the 150 is probably for the carob skin, but even if they raised their prices I would probably keep paying for their artistry.

Sorry I can't resist sharing my most recent faceup from them. This is Elf Lobelia from the recent seconds sale, with Elf Adrian's makeup (minus eyebrow ring.)
