It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 2. @LyanneNZ Oh my gosh! I am in LOVE with your corset top and skirt. Do you work off of existing patterns? Or rather, how does one make and read the patterns? I don't know anything about sewing but I have a concept in mind for my Malena to be dressed in a suit, bralette, suspenders, and possibly a hat.

    3. @susieagent99 - Your Maya is so lovely! Her short curls show off her pretty earrings! :3nodding:

@Lyanne - Your Maya is looking so pretty in that ensemble! :)

Another thing I wish SJ would do more of is making closed eyed versions like this version of Yvonne...

    4. Oh yes! I love sculpts with closed eyes! A lovely option as a second head for one doll :)

    5. Would anyone be able to do a resin comparison of SJ's sonoran beige to Iplehouse's peach gold? Please and thank you!

    6. @sageyufi I would, but my iplehouse girl is over 10 years old. I'll say though, that what I have is not a good match (keeping in mind my girl has likely yellowed, though not badly and its even.) The formula has probably changed in 10 years but I would be surprised if it had changed enough to match the sonoran beige. Peach gold has very pink undertones and the Sonoran beige is more yellow/olive toned.

    7. @Wittyilynamed Thanks for your response. I will accept whatever colour my doll comes so this was just mainly out of curiosity. SJ’s peach cream definitely looks too pale for my purposes and I had been bouncing between sonoran beige and amber beige but ultimately chose the former.

I really can’t wait until my girl gets to me :sweat

    8. @sageyufi yes i would say in my opinion, the SJ peach cream is basically a sliiiiightly darker NS. it's much lighter than my Iplehouse peach girl, even 10 years in, when usually they lose some vibrancy and color.

The sonoran beige is a lovely color, but the undertone is definitely different. It reminds me of olive skinned/Mediterranean people in the winter, when they don't have a summer tan.

    9. I had an Iple EID man in the SR skin tone, and I also had a pair of SJ man sonoran beige skin tone hands that I used on him. The two skin tones are similar. However, SJ's sonoran beige vs Iple's peach gold is totally different (my Iple peach gold ladies are of the "glow" PG) SJ's sonoran beige is a "tan" skin tone where as Iple's PG is more of a much lighter skin tone, think normal but with pinkish undertones.

    10. I did do a comparison of some of IH and SJ's resins a while back, though it turned out a little dark. First photo here:
      https://denofangels.com/threads/new...ehouse-sartoria-j-luts-various-others.622642/

It's a little funny how Peach Gold stands out as the only really pinkish one of the lot.

    11. @Sianserais Thank you, this is exactly what I need! I will bookmark it :)

And wow, what a difference in undertone comparing sonoran beige to peach gold! I also would have never thought amber beige is so close to real skin. Would you say sonoran beige looks more "lifelike" than peach gold in your opinion?

For now, I only have rosewater parts (which sits between peach cream and warm ivory according to SJ's pictures). When I will tweak the colours on my monitor, then I might have a better idea of what these colours might look like irl.

    12. @sageyufi - Hmm. Let me put it this way - one of my longstanding nitpicks about the hobby is how very pale most companies' "normal" resins are. I'm fairly light-toned myself, and sonoran beige is actually really close to my own skin color. But I do lean a bit toward the yellow, and I've known other people, like my mother, who noticeably leaned more pink. I will say that peach gold may be more vibrant than you'd want for, say, an english noble character who spends all their time indoors. It makes me think of someone who has just been running/working hard, or come out from a hot bath or sauna. So I wouldn't say it's less lifelike, but certainly more appropriate for some characters/concepts than others. Hope that helps!

    13. @Sianserais That’s a great description for peach gold! I think I now have a general idea for its visualization.

And I agree with you about the paleness of “normal” resins. Maybe it’s just because BJD’s roots are in fantasy-idealism and anime adjacent rather than realism.

But yeah, I also wish companies didn’t just offer multiple skin tones of essentially the same lightness but slightly different hue. Like bro, please give me some real contrast!

    14. Right? On the plus side, we do see "tan" resins offered a lot more these days than we used to, so things have been trending towards more choice! Now if only more companies would offer green/blue/purple resins... :evilplot:

    15. Also, the skin tone you choose should be what you have in mind for your doll/character/outfit.
Over the years, I've had several skin tones for 1 fave sculpt, and discovered that I prefer certain skin tones for certain sculpts. What I thought would look good in a "lighter" skin tone, actually looked better in a "darker" skin tone and vice-versa. Take in consideration what color outfit/clothing/wig you want on a doll, if it will look good against that skin tone/wig color. A good way to know about that is going online, searching various colors that work with various skin tones. Usually, the "brown skin tones are considered "warm" certain colors work really well with dark skin tones and some don't. and the lighter skin tones are "cool" again, some colors work, and others don't.
If you put something on a doll and it just doesn't feel right, try a different color!
Many years ago (about 40 years-oh my, I'm showing my age) :ablink: I took a class on fashion colors and what looks good with skin tones/hair color. (at that time, I wasn't into dolls)
I used to collect Tonner dolls (17" vinyl) I would buy a doll, and I knew it was dressed in wrong colored clothing for their hair and skin tone, and I'd find the right outfit for her. Needless to say, once I discovered the larger 1/3 resins, I sold all my smaller dolls (basically, to finance the larger) :)

    16. I couldn't find a SJ Sonoran Beige and an Iple PG but I do have a Sonoran Beige and a SJ Peach Cream. Taken with only natural light coming in from the right. If that helps any....:)

    17. @susieagent99 Great advice! I'm shelling the blonde character in my avatar, and the main reason I'm trying gauge skin tones in the first place is to coordinate a look beforehand. I bought clothes in white and what looks like orange-red colours.

The wig colour is what I'm most particular about as I prefer to get it in platinum blonde, but if the cool tone clashes or it washes her out or whatever, I may opt for a more golden hue.

@luluna Thanks for sharing! Your dolls look amazing btw! I can see that sonoran beige is visibly "tan" compared to peach cream. This at least brings confidence to my purchase because I see my girl Cori as someone who loves to soak up some sun.

    18. @sageyufi - Thank you so much! :daisy I'm glad the photo was able to help. Sonoran beige is a nice color, and I hope you are happy with it with your incoming girl. :)

    19. @sageyufi

totally messing up my post here......

We do have a lovely face-up artist!!! I follow her and she is very active in the face-up scene. I too get a bit frustrated with pricing in Canada. But I get why the Canadian makers price that way. I would be inclined to do the same. So I've pulled out my sewing machine to start making my dolls their own clothes. I just can't stomach the exchange, and the taxes coming into BC (I used to live in AB and only had to pay GST on my purchases..now I have to add PST as well:aeyepop:) at the moment. I have one more layaway with SartoriaJ to pay off and then I think I will have to lay low for awhile. So I have started on the clothes creation with a different style of doll that I collect (so many patterns to choose from!) and then I'm going to move into the msd dolls. Gotta sharpen up my skills. They're not so hot to begin with and they are rusty! And I have certain expectations of how clothes should be finished and should look, so the bar is set high! So we will see how it goes Fingers are crossed......

    20. Someone asked me about the 59 Daphne body so I will post this photo of my Teen Claire that I just dressed in the Audrey limited outfit. She has the bud bust. She's just lovely and I adore her hands.:XD:
