1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Sartoria J Design Group - Part 3

Jun 26, 2023

    1. Is anyone planning to go for doll of the month Evelyn? I already have the original version in mini size but I'm hoping to get this one too but in the 59 daphne body. She'll be my 2nd big SartoriaJ

    2. Evelyn is really pretty but alas, I am on a no-buy for a while because of some other dolls I'm bringing home at the end of this month - the off-topic, fluffy Ragdoll kind :D

    6. @Loganberry - Thank you! :)

@Wittyilynamed - Thanks so much! Oh, I understand...and you've got some wonderful incoming ladies! I so wanted to get Jade! :whee: But Elf Leo won out and I could only swing one at that time. Sigh...

SJ gives too much temptation at once.

    7. Have you seen the teasers for the new Celestial dolls on Instagram? I am normally not that much into male dolls, but the little snippet of Matthew looks hot! I wonder if there will be girls too.

Edit: Boys are up on the website. Not bad! Couldn´t avoid to smile a little about the priest theme, with all the recent pope stuff.

    9. Haha Andrew is very handsome! I am chuckling to myself, as it's very "Hot Young Pope"

    10. I'm saved on the boys but i am liking evelyn :D

I have a question but hope it doesnt come across as rude or anything.
But personally what do you guys do with your dolls?
I've always been into the doll hobby- from barbies to BJDs. Have left the hobby then come back(thanks to SatoriaJ :mwahaha) but i'll be honest i dont really give my dolls much attention. I know they're much much different to barbies in terms of playing etc. but i feel kinda lost currently. I mold my dolls into my sims characters but once i've got them i dont really take pictures, except dress them up and have them hidden nicely away from sunlight. They cost so much just to be put away like that, but i was just curious on what you guys do with your dolls?
Again, hope my question doesn't come across rude :(

    11. @jp_bestie that's not rude at all! I personally display my dolls (out of direct sunlight) as I want to be able to see them and I don't worry all that much about yellowing. For me they're too expensive to store away and I feel like I'd forget about them if they were out of sight :sweat. But I totally understand why others prefer to store them in their boxes.

I also have a biggish collection of clothes for them so I regularly change their clothes. None of them have characters so they're not restricted to a particular style.

    12. See i don't even do that, i don't have many clothes (yet) for my 3. But I'm hoping to change all that, try and take more photos of them.

I have another question lol, I can't remember where I saw them, but I'm sure there's heeled sneakers for the bjds no?
I can't seem to find them online anywhere

    13. Not rude, an interesting question! I've been in the hobby 14 years, and only started sewing outfits for my girls in the last 6 months. I've never taken photos of them and honestly I feel uncomfortable being in public with them. So why do I have them? Mostly to dress them up, but even nude I just enjoy posing them and looking at them. For me they function as dolls but also as art. I also enjoy staring at paintings and feel no guilt, but the bonus with dolls in my mind is I can have the Mona Lisa and a John Singer Sargent painting all in one! :lol:I do think having a face up artist who adds so much depth (shout out for the 100th time to komorebidolls or rianne on DoA ) really adds to my enjoyment of my girls. Most of mine have loose stories I make up for them after I acquire them, but it's ever changing and not fixed haha.

It's also okay if you get bored with the hobby, sell all your dolls, and never touch them again. Sometimes we enjoy things for seasons of life and then move on. Just like if you had a $$$$ dollar painting on your wall that no longer spoke to you, so you sold it to a new owner to appreciate.

    14. @jp_bestie I've only had my first doll for little than a month, but so far I love to dress her up, play with her, and have her sit beside me. I’ve blushed her hands and have plans to do her face up, make her wig, and possibly learn to sew. I enjoy photography too, but my phone cam is really too poor :sweat

Since you own fashion dolls too, you may want to ask yourself what joy your BJDs bring for you that your fashion dolls can't already do. Or for that matter, what joy your BJDs bring for you that your Sims can't already do.

Speaking as someone whose journey is fictional story -> Sims 4 visualization -> considered OOAK fashion dolls -> full BJD dive via SartoriaJ--my main motivation for BJD hobby is actively expanding on my OCs' story. That gives their dolls a lot of sentimental value for me while also reinforcing my creative side.

On aside, I refuse to store my dolls in the dark because my true enjoyment comes from seeing them on display. Of course, I am paranoid of accelerated yellowing and had considered anti-UV film for my windows / display. But I learned that ambient natural light is very little to no risk (and we must accept that all resin ages with time). My room's windows are east-facing so I simply keep my blinds closed until afternoon. When it's time to open the blinds (and I regularly wake up at noon), I happily enjoy admiring my doll in safe natural light :)

    15. Love the answers
I was actually thinking to have them displayed out in the open in my room and just have the blinds shut during the spring/summer time. I think deep down my issue is i dont know how to pose the dolls, but that can just take practice. I've just ordered Evelyn with faceup B and in Sonogram beiege ^^

    17. I started with the more modern Barbies back in 2009, I kept them in their boxes, and had them displayed on shelves in 1 room. Then I discovered Tonner dolls, and I "de-boxed" and threw away their boxes (I should have NEVER done that) but I redressed the Tonners into outfits that I thought would look better with their skin tone and hair color and they were displayed on shelves. Then, in late 2012 I discovered the 1/3 resin dolls, that prompted me to sell off all my Barbies and Tonners to finance those expensive big dolls. I've never looked back at the smaller dolls. In the beginning (of me collecting the resins) I photographed them, redressed them, bought/sold/traded clothing and misc items for them. They were in a glass cabinets on display (still are) About 4 years ago, I suddenly decided that each one of my dolls have a personality, and I found them an outfit that stays on them permanently. I don't photograph them now as often as I did a few years ago but, if someone wanted a "reference" photo of something that I can help with, I'm right there with the camera to answer your questions.
I have bought and sold a MANY of resins and currently have the "keepers" now. For me to buy a new doll, it has to be something that totally grabs my heart. I do buy a few fancy outfits from SJ because I have a "lady" who is wanting it (LOL)
This hobby does have people "waxing & waning" over time, I'm guilty of feeling that way at times but, I cannot be without my dolls in the house on display. As I walk past the room where they are, I take a peek at them, I too think of them as "piece of art" also "eye candy" for our souls.

    18. Is anyone able to post a picture of an iplehouse head on the MNT64 body? :)

    19. I can, but I will say it may be a few days, as it's a holiday weekend and I'll be traveling. Any preference on breast option? I have bell and dew
