Hi guys! I saw the sale and was tempted to get msd sized Matias because he’s perfect for a character I have, but I’m wondering how well do they pose and hold a pose? I’m torn between him and and iplehouse FID
Well, depends on how you look at it. Every doll body has it's own quirks and needs practice to get used to. That being said, I personally find the SJ ladies pose pretty much the same as IH ladies, except they can use some wiring in their arms, and their knees aren't quite as nice so their lower legs can pop out of place. But my SJ ladies all have long skirts so I don't care. However, in my opinion Iplehouse FID men pose much better than SJ men. But then, one can't beat an SJ sculpt or faceup. Those are spectacular. I have four FiDs and three SJ men, and am getting used to the SJ guy's posing limitations. I've wired all their arms so that at least helps their arms hold a pose. Without wiring their elbows wouldn't hold a pose other than tightly bent or straight out. And I wanted more range. If all one wants is a doll to stand on display it doesn't matter how they pose, but my guys are all actors in my stories. Still, my three SJ guys spend most of their time just standing around looking magnificent.
Yeah, it's so hard to choose colours on a computer monitor! I think that's why so many of my dolls have black wigs, at least you know what colour you're getting! I've had terrible trouble trying to find the right shade of chocolae brown for another doll, and now I'm having that trouble with blonde wigs - so many shades of warm and cool blonde! Hard to know what to get. The Iplehouse Sepia, if this helps, is very much a cool brown, so it's not a warm chocolate brown, and is quite a dark brown. It's a nice colour, but of course it depends what shade you're after! It does seem they have bigger heads than the others! Phillip next to my FID Dane is a HUGE difference! I wish I'd realised that before I bought his original wig, oh well. But yeah, the elf ears make it so much harder - I love elf ears, but finding a wig to fit!!! It's a bit of a nightmare. Wigs handmade to fit are probably the best option, you're right, but wig making is not one of my skills! I love the wigs you've made your dolls so much!!! Elf ears make it so hard. And yeah, the SJ boys definitely can't wear the 5-6 wigs - on the upside, at least there's much more choice in the size 6-7 wigs, many more companies to choose from. I've ordered him a Monique wig from amongst the last of the Facets By Marcia stock, so hopefully that works. At least their wigs are quite thin. I'm no good at posing my dolls, but I will say, I was very impressed with how my SJ boy stands like a rock straight out of the box. My FID boys always seem to collapse at the ankles and stand weird, but the SJ boy is great, stnads so solidly! And he fits all the same shoes too!
@morganatron Did you order a 6-7 Monique wig from Marcia? The ones I got are definitely too big. The 5-6 are too small. Their heads are a real challenge wigwise.
Yes, I got a 6-7. I have another 6-7 Monique wig here that fits him, so fingers crossed the one I’ve ordered fits the same!!!
Anita, you havw the most amazing dresses! I follow you on Instagram and keep on admiring them! MB Lilac, Agnes looks like real elven maiden from a movie - Arwen. So etherial and pretty!
I have a question: has anyone ever tried some SD female shoes (any brand) on your MSD SartoriaJ boy??? I remember once trying some SD shoes on my FID boy but his feet were way too wide even though the length was similar - but now I have my SJ boy I see his feet are MUCH narrower. It feels like buying SD girl shoes might be a possibility, however I don't actually own any such shoes (borrowed from a friend last time) - so does anyone own some and can try it out??? If they fit - that would open up so many possibilities of shoes to buy!!! I hope someone owns both sizes and can help?!
@morganatron I remember buying boots from SartoriaJ that were made for their SD girls that were also marketed as being able to fit their MSD boys. So I reckon that they can share shoes.
I ordered Matias My crippling doll addiction won once again Looking at pashapasha dolls backfired, cause I realized I like Matias way more anyway, so doll plans needed to be changed. I am really excited - I wanted to get Sartoriaj doll for a while and he is gonna be my first one and he can wear some of the cool outfits Sartoriaj periodically dropping. And he can be friend with my Raccoondoll Henry, who I ordered earlier. Next year I need to add ladies to my collection. MSD Vittoria maybe
I agree Matias is a wonderful choice. He is wonderful in both sizes. Here's my MSD sized Matias......to hold you over till yours arrives. @Fyrwenn Mishka by luluna33, on Flickr
Thanks! I feel good about this choice Oh yeah he is amazing I actually saw him on your flickr when I was googling pics and trying to decide who should I get, and, well you know who I bought eventually. Thanks!
Just dropping by to share this photo I've been dying to take ever since I got my guy's fashion mini version. The girls are an Iple SID and HID, so those familiar with a certain Futurama episode may get the reference. Initiating S S by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
