1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

SartoriaJ Mini Part II

Aug 19, 2023

    1. Yes, I've always preferred the more realistic dolls, and loved the ones Iplehouse offered, but I really wasn't into the large scale dolls. So it was like a gift when they finally released them in MSD size. I was in heaven, as they were the same size as all the OOAK art dolls I used to make with my sister. It was the size I was most comfortable making costumes for. And then came the even more gorgeous SJ dolls. So far everyone has pretty much ended up as Fantasy Medieval, however I've done a few costumes from other periods, and even a few contemporary ones.

My favourite periods have always been Tudor, Elizabethan, Musketeer, Elizabethan, and Victorian. I was starting to feel I'd never tackle any of the other periods because I'd 'need' to make an outfit for all my dolls. But why? I did the Phantom costumes just for the fun of it - and to take photos of - so why not other periods as well? Who cares if the dolls modelling them aren't 'official couples'? I'm getting too old to be stuck in a rut doing the same thing over and over, and there's still so many things I'd like to do, and I can't do them all at once. Time to get back to just making things because I want to, and using some of the fabrics I've collected over the years specifically for period outfits. Right now I'm working on the fourth gown from my new pattern, but who knows what comes after that?

In the meantime I've been enjoying photographing my dolls in their new gowns...

    2. Ooh what a glorious photo!!! Huh, if you photoshopped a unicorn horn on to the horse it would look even MORE fantasy princess - but they both look amazing just as they are!!!

Yes, I think I also got stuck in a rut with mine, thinking I had to make each era for all of them - but this is supposed to be fun, after all! If we just want to make one outfit (or a pair) for each era we like, then why not? Your Phantom costume was amazing, I can't wait to see what other things you might make!!!

    3. @morganatron - Thank you! I don't believe in photoshopping such important details. They never look believable in my opinion. I prefer using the real thing - if I have it. I have turned one of my smaller horses into a unicorn, and have considered doing it to one of my larger horses as well. It's just one of many things I've never gotten around to.

    4. Fair enough! I don't know how to photoshop anything, so you're ahead of me there! :D The horse looks lovely just as it is, anyway!

    7. Ordered Matthew with face up in Rosewater skin ... I simply couldn´t resist! Pity the outfit isn´t available in MSD size, I would have loved that.

    8. Congratulations!!! Those outfits are amazing aren’t they! I’m sure he’ll be lovely even without it!

    9. @morganatron Thank you! I got him on the David-body, and now clothes are really becoming a problem. SartoriaJ´s clothing collection is not really to my taste. I used to buy from PABADoll on Etsy cause they made custom sizes, but their shop closed. Now I am at a loss where to get clothes for him :...(

    13. The recent Versailles theme inspired me to take some photos of Sarah borrowing the only outfit I have from that period...

    15. Anyone know what the general wait time ends up being for dolls ordered with faceup? Just curious ^.^

    16. I don't know if it's a 'general wait time', but I was surprised when my last doll, Sarah with faceup, took just two months.
