SC doll *Flower and Junior* discussion part 1

Finally he's here, I have so many projects in mind for this little one! I need to wait for his body and then I will give him my first face up (gosh...). but I'm so happy ;^^^^;/

 

Congratulations on his arrival! He's so amazingly cute even without a face up. Good luck with your first face up too...we're all excited to see the final result once his body arrives and you get him completed.

Has anyone seen the new heads up on the site? XD I gotta say I'm tempted by Wing. I'm so weak. D8

 

I get to order a body for my Yabi but I still am unsure if I want a boy or a girl.

Tough choice on gender, and even more so on what company to go with. XD

I just finished a trade for a Mizi head in normal skin. She's been on my wishlist for a while now, so this is totally a dream come true. I've already got her plans figured out, but it will take me a while to get her a body. She'll share with my other dolls for now, but eventually I'll get her a Doll Chateau body and start collecting the neck extension pieces.
She's going to be a Rokurokubi, a long neck yokai, who's always sleepy and wears comfy bed clothes all the time.

 

@Beansproutmomo Hi!!! Your plans for you Mizi sound so cute! I went and got my girl a DZ body. For Yabi I was looking at doll leaves since they are pretty affordable and they have a mobility joint.

@Beansproutmomo, we certainly do see a lot of each other on these threads it seems. Our tastes are obviously quite similar. And I had to laugh when I heard about your Mizi...so similar once again, though not all in one doll. I of course have my Mizi too...and a Doll Chateau Queena with those extra joints that I adore...and an incoming Volks I'm styling in flannel sleepwear kimonos. Ha! But you've really got me beat by combining all 3 together!!! Your ideas for this character are pure epic!!! I can't wait to see!

For any Mizi owners, I wanted to ask about eye size.
My dolls usually wear a size smaller, since I like small irises. The F&J website says Mizi wears a 14mm, but it's pretty big in their pics, so I assume 12mm might be better?
I thought about either getting 3 matching eyes made, or buying the DeyeY kind and painting them myself. (That's always fun to make my own! lol)

My Mizi, Murphy, wears 14mm and her irises are quite large...so I definitely imagine 12mm would work better for you if you like smaller irises. I ordered her 2 matching pairs of Mako urethane eyes (leaving an extra eyeball rolling around as a spare.)

@Lythtis, ;o; Aww, sorry to hear that you aren't bonding with your Yabi as much as you thought you would. I definitely know that pain OTL
I also have my Yabi borrowing a Fairyland body though its an F-line and not an A-line, but they are almost identical. I'm curious as to why you'd have to permanently mod it to work though...I just take the neck mechanism off the top and replace it for a traditional S-hook and it works perfectly fine for my Yabi. o:

@PoeticSoul, *O* Oh man, its been a while and I can't remember if i've said it before but really I adore your Mizi! Her tattoo are amazing! And I just love the steampunk look that you've given her ^w^ It reminds me how much i've always wanted to have a steampunk doll/character but just have never found the justification to have one in any of my stories haha~ Someday!

Rokurokubi are definitely really interesting and unique yōkai that I don't see portrayed as dolls much at all. >w< I love creepy/cute things though so i'm super excited to see her all complete!~

c: Anyways I haven't posted here in quite a while but I have made some definite progress on my Yabi, Calliope! I've been crazy busy lately so I haven't had too much time to spend on her or my other dolls as much as I had hoped but I did manage to do her faceup and make her a temporary wig! xD I thought about modding her eyes to give her a more "dreamy" look but i'm happy that after literally three layers of upper eyelashes I didn't really need to haha. She's sharing my Fairyland F-line body that arrived recently until I can get her own M-line girl body but eeep I'm so super happy that I did end up liking the way the hybrid looks and that the resin match with a faceup is much better than I thought it would be! I only have a quickly taken picture to share at the moment as I haven't had the time to take better ones yet but I've been dying to share her. ;//A//; She's so gorgeous omg asdfghjkl I'm so in love with her as this sculpt its just crazy! So happy I went with my intuition and decided to try it out because it does look almost eerily exactly like her character *O*
Of course, the one thing that always manages to rain on my parade is that I'm extremely picky when it comes to how my dolls look with each other and i'm not entirely sure if i'm happy with the way she looks with one of her romantic equivalents and her brother yet. Typically I greatly prefer when my doll couples/etc. have quite similar facial features but in this case I almost feel that the two of them look too similar and I can't decide if I love it or hate it yet. Her head also looks enormous next to her older brother's and that is very distracting to me. >__> *Sigh* I can't win, I swear.
Anyway, it'll take me some time to figure it all out i'm sure but at the very least I absolutely adore my Yabi and think its just the most perfect sculpt for her character! ^U^ Can't wait to take proper pictures of her soon I hope

@Arkelle ... I think that I'm in love. She is stunning! The face-up, the little horn, the eyes, everything is so good on her. OOh, who is her partner -if I can ask fdjgdfkj- and her brother?
I don't know the struggle to have dolls that in my eyes don't look good together, but I will find out soon, I think. Maybe time is the key? *I really don't know ;-;*

xD Err, well "partner" isn't quite the right word because, to put it simply, its the nature of her unique species to form romantic trios rather than traditional pairs, so I refer to them all as "romantic equivalents". But the one of the three that I was referring to is my Soom Serin boy; Shu. I never realized how similar their sculpts look until I did Calliope's faceup haha xD. And her brother is my Soom R. Shale; Faustus~
xD And yeah, I don't think other people care/struggle nearly as much with how their dolls look together as I do. I'm just incredibly fastidious when it comes to not only character accuracy but also facial similarity and proportion when my doll's characters are significant to one another. It means that I end up having to reshell dolls a lot more than I'd like to, but its worth it to get them as close to canonical perfection as I can~ I'm honestly the type of person who would be much better suited to collecting dolls from only one company/artist because i'm so picky...but I like variety haha xD

And i'm super happy her temporary wig turned out so nice as well! It was definitely a huge pain to make but it so worth the struggle in the end!

Aww, and thank you so much too! I know riiight?! I'm so pleased with how she has come along so far! And i'm crossing all my fingers I can work everything out within my dolls...this sculpt is absolutely perfect for her aesthetically and I hate even considering having to change her again...or any of my other dolls that I love for that matter T___T
