Seeing the doll that you love in gore mod, how to you act?

Feb 27, 2010

    1. I think it'd be awesome- it shows the versatility of the sculpt and the countless possibilities that modifying can bring xD

.... Now I shall be adding a gore-modded DMK Vian to my wishlist. Because I am a Vian whore and must have all of them. ALL. :0 /shot

    2. I'm fascinated by gore mods. They just show the versatility of the individual doll and the scope of creativity of the creator. I actually have a gore mod myself, and everyone that's seen her is immensely grossed out. Haha. Oh, well. To each their own.

    3. I love gore mods. They're so horror-movie-esque, and I absolutely love gory horror movies, so... >///<

    4. Gore mods are normally extremely detailed, I'd give kudos to the person that would put that much effort into something!

    5. XD I guess I'm a tad of an oddity. If I saw a mold of one of my favorite dolls( for the sake of argument, let's say it's an AOD Fei, my first doll) being used as a gore mod, I'd probably be fascinated. I myself don't enjoy gore mods, but I do like seeing how versatile a single sculpt can be, even if it means modding them.

    6. What people do with there dolls is there own business however i always find it interesting to
see my sculpts in gore mod haha though i would never myself do it to my dolls :P

    7. The same way I react regardless of what doll it is or what has been done to it, be it a gore mod, face up or any other kind of mod.
If it is good I will study how it has been done and maybe learn a new thing or two. Appreciate it and maybe leave a nice comment.
If it is bad I just wince and hit the back button.

    8. I have to be blunt: Gore mods, while some can be amazingly well-done, come off as a waste of 200$+ dollars to me. While I buy some dolls for characters, some... I just love for their mold, point-blank. I get attached to them, fairly deeply.
So if I saw one badly/grossly modded.. I.. might actually leave an 'OH GOD WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT D:' comment. I'm not a person that sugarcoats things, or pulls punches. Yeah, you can defend this whole thing with 'It's their dorrie, they can do what they want', but if something is disturbing/distasteful, I reserve the right to put my opinion on it. That's the risk people take by posting things on the internet.

    9. I'd feel a pang of pain. I dont like gore mods... or gore for that matter

    10. I can respect and appreciate the artistry behind a well-executed gore mod, but I don't think I would ever choose to own one myself. I don't think that I would feel differently if it was a sculpt I owned or if it was one that I'm less familiar with.

    11. Even if I didn't like what the person who had done such a mod had done, I wouldn't be like ZOMG WTF have you done to that doll?! I figure, it takes patience, more than I've got and if I haven't got anything nice to say I keep my mouth shut, or in this case, my fingers off the keyboard. Whether you like something or not, unless they're specifically asking for critique and I imagine in the case of gore mods they're asking for opinions from people who like gore mods, not people who don't, don't say anything bloody negative about it. It's not sugarcoating--- it's just being polite, something quite a few people in this world could stand to learn.

For what it's worth, I don't like gore mods. Sometimes I'm wondering why people do what they do to their dolls, but I don't take personal offense at it and I don't comment, it's that simple. Some of them are wicked cool though, and I have been known to appreciate the artistry and creativity in a gore mod. No two will ever be alike, that's for sure.

    12. I don't like gore mods personally but there are enough that do and if I saw a mold I liked being modded that way I wouldn't go up to them and tell them "I don't like it so YOU can't do it." I wouldn't even mention to them I didn't like it unless they asked me for my opinion. In the end it is their doll, and who am I to tell them what to do with their money and their dolls. One of the great things about this hobby is that the ways you can customize them is almost limitless and I don't believe I should tell someone which ways to be creative are deemed "acceptable" just because I don't like it.

    13. I would probably think something along the lines of OOOOH SWEEEET Awesome!
      ... I love gore.
I dunno though I guess it can be a shock to see a familiar face all gored up, I don't think I've seen one of my dolls that way before. I've seen a puki zombie though, which I think might have been a pong and I have one of those, and all I thought was the initial thought of "whoa wtf!" and then "AWESOME!! :D"
      Heh heh >.>

    14. Gore mods tend to look really cool, and I love seeing the different things people do with their dolls.

    15. I dont like gore/bloody stuffs but I do like looking at gore mods. I love how someone can transform a sweet little sculpt into a scary zombie, it's awesome! Sometimes a horrible mod-job will surface and I will wince while looking at it. Not because it's terrible-looking, but an amateur modded a $1oo/2oo head thinking they will do a fabulous job, and they didnt. And the head is totally ruined and unrepairable.

    16. I've never seen a head that was completely unrepairable.

    17. I have and sometimes it's technically possible, but not worth the effort.

Taste is something personal and some people love gore mods, while others don't. Some people will flinch when they see rainboy face-ups on dolls they like.

    18. I have never seen a gore mod of a doll I own. If I did, I can't say I'd like it. I'm just not a fan of gore mods. I don't find them attractive. They doesn't repulse me or anything. I just decide not to look at them.

People can and do do whatever they want. If you don't like it, just don't look at it.

    19. I personally like some of the gore mods I've come across. Since I'm still pretty new my doll will not have a gore mod, but some where down the link I'm sure one will make its way into my family. :)

    20. As long as it was done well I'd be in awe or something like that! I mean, I Havn't really seen any bad ones but seeing a bad one would make me go "oh thats a shame ):" or something I bet.
