1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Selling/Buying Preferences: Blank or Face-up? Owner pics purchases?

Jan 16, 2018

    1. It really doesn't matter to me. If I like the face-up then I keep it. if not, I'll just wipe it off and put on my own.

It's weather or not the seller is offering layaway and/or splits that decides it for me. :)

    2. Something about getting a doll with a faceup feels weird to me! Makes it feel less personal, like someone’s already given a personality to the doll. I love to have a blank canvas

    3. Preferably I would buy dolls without face up. And if they were sold with I wouldn't really want to pay more for the doll because I would probably wipe it off. For me giving the face up myself is a rule I try to follow so I keep stimulating myself to be creative and this not ending in just a collecting hobby. With maybe the exception of a peakswoods face up, since I live those so much and I would never get to that level haha.
With selling I do let the face up stay, but I absolutely will never ask extra money for it. Also I would always ask if thirty would want the face up wiped off before I selk it to them or not.

    4. I usually prefer faceups because if I don't like the faceup, I can always change it and it's great for it to temporarily have a face so that I can put the doll on display.

    5. I prefer buying blank, because I like to do faceup myself. I will buy a doll with faceup only if I can't find it without.

    6. I prefer blank unless it's the company faceup. Price wise I really don't like it when people increase the price because of a faceup. I couldn't buy one of my grail dolls for a long time because the only ones on the secondhand market were marked up significantly for artist faceups I didn't care for.

    7. Mine are a mix. I have some with the company faceup, others with faceups from their previous owners (they were simply too well done and perfect for me to wipe and redo!), others I bought blank or wiped and had them sent off to be redone in a certain style. It really just depends on if the faceup clicks with me once I see it in person. Faceups certainly don’t deter me from buying a certain doll as I usually research my dolls and know what I’m getting/what I want, faceup or no faceup.

    8. Generally I prefer to buy with faceup. I’m not sure I would be able to make a decision as far as having one done to be honest!

    9. I've only bought one doll second hand and I bought it because I fell in love with the face up. So I suppose I prefer them with it.
