Serenade Doll

My girl ( + one head ) is home already! It took her just two days to arrive from England to Canada! So excited. I will paint her today. I have two heads Nova and Ava, i will paint both of them. Can't wait to start.

And I'm glad I could help I'm tempted by the Artificial Bird too but I know she'd just end up sat in a corner more like a statue than a doll, because I wouldn't feel like I could customise her at all. I've bought a limited doll with the outfit before and she hardly ever wears it - my dolls always seem to have plans of their own! Plus that money could go towards buying Lotus and the myriad of extras I want to get for her instead lol

 

That was my reservation with her as well. She's super beautiful but everything about her is too specific to really do anything but look at her. I'd be afraid to change her clothes. She looks so delicate.

I do want her shoes....omgosh, and how. They're pretty badass. I wish they would sell them. Wah wah waahhh...they said nothing about her will be sold separate.

 

Also, woooo!!! <happy shimmy dance> can't wait to see their faceups! I had a tough time picking which heads I wanted...I wanted them all >___<

 

Omgosh.....I didn't even stop to consider any color differences in batches! I was like, pesos in my account?! Buy buy buy buy @___@ <Tasmanian devil like>

 

I've tried to contact HorusDoll that seems to be another dealer for SerenadeDoll, at the present i'm not interested in Artificial Bird nor in any limited..just wish to know more about their dealership with SerenadeDoll, still no reply to my message and i've sent them past week, i've sent today a mail directly instead of keep on waiting for their reply on the shop..i hope that they will get back to me eventually.

 

Well...., after spending almost half a night painting two tiny faces, it is what i got. Not entirely happy with the results, but for now it'll do.

With Nova i went completely crazy with freckles ( have no idea why ).

I just realized that i have no wigs for them. What size do they wear? Also the yes they came with are so hard to photograph
, they reflect the light so bad. I think i have to find them glass eyes. Does anyone know what size do they need? Thank you for any info.

 

@suok2011, your girls are beautiful, the faceups are so lovely and delicate. I love all of Nova's freckles!

Serenade's website gives the head measurement as about 16cm which would put it in the 6-7inch wig range (I think it's been mentioned somewhere in this thread that that size is a pretty good fit). As for eyes, the website seems to suggest 10 - 14mm sizes (here's the page with the info, wigs & eye info is near the bottom of the page) but the 14mm eyes used there have a fairly small iris size; the irises of most 14mm eyes are larger and might look a little odd. I can't really recommend what the best size would be since it'll probably largely depend on the look you're going for.
Some of MakoEyes eye collections have smaller irises that may work - 12mm eyes with 6mm irises, 14mm with 7.5mm - but they don't make 10mm eyes unfortunately. Not sure of any other small-iris companies off the top of my head.

 

Thank you, Zaliayn for the info. I will try some of my 14mm eyes. I think that i'll have to make them wigs, i have some mohair and alpaca hair.

Thank you, Serein. They will have these face ups until i figure out to which artist to send them.

 

I can deal with a lack of communication as long as I eventually end up with a doll. The longest wait time I've seen for Artificial Bird is 6 months, so it looks like I've got some sitting and spinning to do. I've waited longer for Ring Doll accessories though, haha.

Here's size 12mm/6mm & 12mm/5mm eyeballs that, for my prefered aesthetic, look pretty good. I like a more natural look, though. I got them both from an eBay shop. I typed in "small iris BJD eyes" and a shop came up.

Also, wig size that I've fouNd which works well - at least in the Monique gold collection/ Monique brand wigs - is the size 6-7. I just got in 5 new wigs and they all fit really well. After I finish her faceup I'll post some more wigs

Suok2011- I looove your faceups! I swear, I have the hardest time getting the lower lashes to look halfway decent. Yours are impeccable!

I've been eyeing these girls for some time now, so happy to find a thread for them here! I adore how they look in owner pictures, Nun definitely went to my To Buy -list!

 

Okay, soooo, some 6-7 wigs are kinda large. I tried on a fatiao 5-6 and it fit pretty well, while another from the same co. wouldn't fit over the entire head. Here's the 5-6 that fit:

I've been eyeing Serenade Doll for a while now!! Sadly, I don't collect SD dolls.

Does anyone know if they sell the heads separately? (i'd love a Ava or Nun head!!) I'm thinking of possibly hybridizing on a smaller body....
