Serenade Doll

Well it looks like the paypal snafu is cleared up. I sent my payment for my second order- but now my first order shows that it already shipped (and the EMS information is active). They did not actually get back to my emails (I think sometimes English is very difficult to translate which probably explains the difficulty in communication) so I don't know if the box will contain both orders, or just the one, or what will happen with the second order-

Can't wait to see the doll though!

I was thinking that any doll I would get from them would turn out to be a soft and gentle character, but seeing Ava so sultry and strong looking, I am totally sold lol.

Okay Ava looks awesome and one I would add to my collection! Love her makeup and those lips the most.

 

Oh the new photos look great! I hope my doll hurries! Personally I am not totally in love with the way they do their face-ups, but that is the beauty of ordering a blank doll right?

I love all the photos they have taken with these dolls (and continue to take) with the fanciful outfits. It is very clear they are very much in love with their creations. It was probably a ridiculous risk buying a doll from a brand new untried company, but I have a feeling that I will be very glad that I did...

I am seriously dying though to see the first owner photos...

I had been planning on a Doll Chateau Olivia but really wanted her on the old body. I think she's going to be replaced with a Suu! I can hardly wait to see owner pics....

 

I'm so happy some of these dolls have shipped, all the recent photos on flickr have made me so excited to see owner pics. They are so stunning, I hope I can order around xmas time. Every time I see an update for this thread on my phone I am hoping it's the owner pics! You guys are the pioneers!!!
As they didn't have face-up pics back then, how did you pick face-ups (if you're getting them?).

 

I am dying to see my doll and the accessories in person. Honestly they all seemed a little too good to be true, and so with the communication problems, I have been a bit apprehensive!

I really hope my doll arrives today...

Does anyone know what size iris is best for a Serenade Doll? I saw 14mm for sale on the website, but I didn't see the iris size and it looks very very tiny in the photo. Thanks in advance!

 

Thanks! I will definitely update once she arrives! Although I just looked at the EMS "estimate" and it looks like 4/25 is more likely receipt date.

As for eye size- I think that 14mm is about right considering the size of their heads (pretty small for a large doll) - but 16mm will probably work as well.

Still I do have 16mm eyes and will definitely try them out! I'll be happy to post pictures once she finally arrives... (she won't have a face-up though)

 

On their page with the DIY eyes, the eye is 14mm and iris comes in a choice of 5mm or 6mm. It's definitely a smaller iris to white ratio than most eyes you see per that page (http://www.serenadedoll.com/goods.php?id=24).

Given the usual price of eyes and the price of these ($1?) my expectations are not overly high- so I actually ordered a grab-bag of 14mm eyes from Denver Doll to play around with

Suu is here! She came with a beautiful certificate of authenticity (birth date), and a letter explaining that each doll is 100% hand made-
I got both the dress and the lingerie set- they look just as beautiful as in the promo shots! (so relieved)
She poses BEAUTIFULLY!
Her resin has the same "feel" and weight as a Fairyland doll-
Her head was a b*%$C to get on- she is very tightly strung. Not so unusual though and her head poses really nicely. I think maybe the resin around her right eye is a bit thin, since I can see the green eye paste showing through a bit- so I might get some white paste. Part of the issue is probably just that she is white and fairly translucent. I think her eyes look to be a very decent size, although I will be trying on different eyes as my Denver Doll package arrived too

I really love her! Now to get a talented face-up artist on board

Here is a picture of the eyes she came with- close up. (I just sort of stuck them in there - they need to be adjusted and pushed in a little better- but I was rushing before someone came in (I'm at work! hehe)

I ordered an extra set for $1 and they are essentially blank eyes that you can put your own color into. Pretty neat! I also got the DIY shoes- hopefully I can do something neat with them!

I do have one issue, (minor) in that the extra hand (I ordered an extra) doesn't quite fit (the wire may be a little too far back so the hook can't reach-) but I think I can fix it with a bit of carving (hopefully).

I never did hear back from their customer service! I have to say that they are not the best about getting back to people- but this in of itself is absolutely not unusual with ordering dolls from Japan or China (I recall that PIPOS never got back to me at all!) - so I don't think it should be a deal-breaker. They are definitely legit! I hope I can get a replacement hand for the missing one)

OMG- sorry for yet more spam, but here she is in her nightgown thingie too- if anyone was curious. I'm afraid the white of her skin doesn't show off the outfit very well, but it is very lovely and fits her very well. It IS very delicate though- one of the ribbons holding the front closed pulled off as I was tying it- (a super easy fix)

She really is amazing- I had had second thoughts about her after ordering (seriously who orders a doll from a brand new company 2 minutes after they go live?) - Also she is my first big doll- so some concerns there.

But in person- wow I really love her. She is really beautiful- even without any face or body coloring- I love her shape, the look of her joints- how she poses.

Looking forward to other owner pics- I assume they will start drifting in any time (probably any orders that involved a face-up or combined orders will take longer). I actually tried to get a second order tacked onto this one- but it didn't happen due to some problems on their site. But I am glad they decided to send out my doll anyway- she definitely exceeds expectations!

 

Oh man.....my resolve has been substantially weakened.....and please post all the photos you want, she's gorgeous!

How long did shipping take from the time you ordered her? Is that White or Pure White skin tone?

 

I agree! We need more photos. That body has blown me away, I was suspicious of some photoshopping but my goodness, they are really that elegant! Definitely near the top of my wishlist... now to plant that money tree... right?!

 

Totally, [MENTION=67475]kamia[/MENTION]! I agree, I thought the photos looked doctored as well. I'm curious as to whether she can stand on her own with the high heel shoes or with flat feet. The stand they have for sale is versatile and minimalistic in any case, though. ^.^

 

Thanks! I ordered her on February 3rd. She was shipped on April 16th and arrived in 5 days
Her skin is "white skin" (not pure white skin)
her flexibility is great- although I was testing some poses with her- and she really can't "stay" in all of the positions that are pictured on their site- (ie she can't stay kneeling - the knee joint is not firm enough and the weight of the doll will push the doll down until she is sitting flat again) probably she could though with some sueding

She can't stand on her own- I think she is just too tall and lanky- but she can lean okay (here she is with her white panty set!)

Sorry for the hastiness and picture quality- I was dying to share photos of her but I am at work so I am being a little ridiculous taking stealth shots of her, lol

It turns out that she does kneel just fine- I don't know why I was having trouble before.
