1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Serendipity Mini including Sharmin discussion thread

Feb 21, 2005

    1. Have you considered Bobobie's new mature mini sized elf girl Sprite? I don't think her ears are changeable but she fits all your other criteria.

    2. Sharmin was limited, and eventually sold out. Sometimes you see her on the second-hand market, but usually at a much higher price. :(

Dolkot just came out with a mini line, and right now there's only a boy version up, despite the pictures of the girl one. Apparently the gender is only indicated by the face-up, and you get the boy body no matter what? Eghh. But you can swap the ears, like with Leaf.

    3. Dollmore makes Doppel Asha, who isn't mature, but you could buy just the head and put her on a Mature body like Soulkids or Unoa.

    4. I've been toying with this idea, too. Thanks!

    5. To go with l33tprincess' suggestion Torrie also comes with 4 ear options

An expensive way to go but also an option is Volks Full Choice System MSD f11,f13 and get an sdc body. You can order FCS in normal skin split and sell the parts you don't need like wig, zouk eyes, and fcs only body then buy a normal skin sdc body. Though you can only choose one option ear when doing an FCS if you take out the elf ears with the right wig it can look human

    6. One other possibility is to get a Mini with normal ears and have a modder do elf ears small enough to be hidden by a wider wig. Then she could be human with some wigs and elven when her ears show. I don't think I've seen modded ears on a French resin doll - it may not be possible to match the translucence of French resin using epoxy, but I've seen some wonderful ear mods on normal resin dolls.

    7. Someone has graciously offered me their Sharmin, so I'm snatching her up! Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! (Not that I'm not still interested in replies to this thread. It might be helpful to searchers.)

    8. There is another option for mature mini Elf, but not with interchangeable ears - CP Luts Minifee elves. I believe they come with a one-touch head changing mechanism, so you could change to a separately purchased minifee head in the same skin tone. But this is a bit more expensive that finding a doll with interchangeable ears! I am not sure if the separate heads come with a one-touch part on the neck - someone more familiar with the line could tell you.

    9. Congrats on the sharmin- She is wonderful girl!

    10. Which doll has the switchable ears? or do all the older dolls have that?

    11. The very white one (3rd from right) is Serendipity Sharmin and she usually had switchable ears - human, short elf, and long elf. But Sharmin is no longer sold except resales. There were many different version of Sharmin besides the original version beige normal skin one. Some were white skin, later normal skin became pinker, some had dramatic goth makeup and very elaborate outfits. The special Sharmins cost more than original Sharmin. Sharmin also had sisters - Alice and Shall and Noel, but I don't think they had extra ears. In fact, it is possible that not all Sharmin models had the extra ears. In the old Dollmore listings, it mentions the ears for Memory Moule and original Sharmin, but not for Kimono or Boding Boding (and they don't show all of the versions that existed).

All I can say is that if you buy one at resale, ask the seller about the extra ears - there should be human, short elf, and long elf if the doll came with extra ears.

Here is a Sharmin database - some have custom faceups but many have their original faceups:

The only other minis I know of with switchable ears are Dollmore Torrie and Dollmore Doppel Asha (immature girls, though there may be matching boys):

      http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=1600

Several other companies sell minis with elf ears, but not exchangable ears.

Sharmin was a very popular doll in 2005, and they still pop up in the Marketplace and on Ebay (maybe one sale every 1-2 months). She is quite skinny and petite. Dollmore still sells clothes for her, and she could probably use some Unoa/Narae clothes, but maybe hot their shoes - her feet are very skinny.

    12. Also note that although Sharmin isn't being made anymore, you can still buy clothes for her from Dollmore and Cheerydoll :)

    13. I know this is an old thread but just to let everyone know the Goodreau MSD sized BJD shoes fit sharmin/alice perfectly! :)

    14. Just to add to this, from what I understand old Serendipity minis (Sharmin, Alice, Shall, Noel) had the same body, Dollmore still has info for the old dolls and states that they all have a foot size of 6cm. Unoas have 5cm feet, so shoes for Unoas would be too small for the old Serendipity minis. (I researched Unoa and Sharmin measurements when I bought my Liebchen as she has similar dimensions to both)

Also, Serendipity don't have the foot measurements for their new "age 14" minis on their website, so I don't know how they compare to the old ones, however they state they are 44cm tall, which is 2cm taller than the old minis so may well have different sized feet.

    15. I think the Serendipity 14yr body should be able to wear many of the better fitting Unoa/Narae/MNF shoes (see the thread in minis about their shoes).

I own an original Sharmin and I briefly had a Serendipity 14yr body and I think the 14yr's feet are a bit more normal slim mini size/shape than the original Sharmin's feet. 14yr's feet seemed to be a bit slimmer than Unoa's, and maybe a bit shorter, but not too far off. I also imagine Goodreau shoes would work since they are said to work on Unoa.

    16. My SR body can wear Teen Trend shoes, but the Unoa size shoes generally are too big.
Take a look at this pic and notice how small the feet are on the Serendipity body on the right.

    17. Does this company still exist? I can't find their web site. You'll have to forgive me for asking this. I've been off the forum for the past two years and am now returning to bjds after my long absence.

The only thing I found doing a search on DoA is that Sharmins aren't made anymore. I can't find any info on the company itself.
      :(

    18. I contacted them at the end of March, when I first heard that they were closing their international site, and asked them about continuing sales on their Korean site. They replied that the Korean site had already closed and they were unable to take any orders after the first of April. They made beautiful dolls, I had always hoped to see more from them.

    19. Just thought if anybodies interested Dollndoll are going to be making
      Sharmin again!
Heres the answer I got when I posted there.
      Yippee!! :D:D

      Hello .
I bought most serendipity doll's mold.
      Sharmin is one during them.
Already, Sharmin's manufacture was completed, and is going to do face-up soon and take a picture.
You can see sharmin in next month.
      Thank you .

    20. Hi there, I have a Serendipity Sharmin that I adopted and her body is in pretty bad condition. Instead of looking for another Serendipity body though I was wondering if anyone knows what resin would match her face without the body looking disproportionate... Anyone have a sharmin on a different body?

      Thanks!
