1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Simply Divine Discussion - Part 2

May 10, 2016

    1. Thank you <3 That means I should likely have a good amount of time to get Vivian's wardrobe together. . . . which is good, since I keep buying too much stuff for my new girl just now.

    2. Hello,

happy holidays everybody. I’m joining this thread. I just order a Tatsuo head. Do you know if the head will fit DollsTown 18yr body? Also how long is the waiting time? Thank you so much in advance for your help :)

      • x 2
    3. Welcome! The waiting time I heard is around 3-4 months but could be longer due to covid.

    4. WOW! That’s a long wait. I thought it was going to take 2-3 weeks like it said on their Etsy page.

    5. in the hobby 3-4 months is pretty average and a little on the fast side. And, well, you know, *waves* global pandemic.

    6. I know and I don’t mind the wait. Especially for a beautiful head like Tatsuo. I have waited about 6 months for a bjd in the past. I was just a little bit shocked this time because I based my order on the Etsy shipping estimate. I was thinking may be the head was already in stock that’s why the shipping estimate was so short. Now to kill the waiting time, I can start planing or looking for clothes that will fit the DollsTown 18yr old boy body I will be using. I have never owned a male doll that big. So none of the clothes I have for my 65cm vindolls fit him.

    7. Yeah. I am not sure how they calculate the etsy shipping estimate but I think you're right; it might vary if there's heads in stock or not.

You're gonna love him but HE A BIG BOI. Weighs like 12 lbs. Do you have the body in hand already? A lot of us have that one for our Simply Divine heads so maybe we can help with what fits- Although I'm not much help there, lol, because I sewed stuff for my guy. I do owe him more outfits.

LIGHTBULB MOMENT- I should make him a historical Persian outfit! hrmmm do I have any fabric even suitable??

    8. Yes. I do have the body already and is heavy. I only have one resin boy and he is an iplehouse FID and the rest of my crew is vinyl or ABS plastic. So, I was shock I need it both hand to carry the body. I usually do it with one. The body was meant for a custom head I got a few months ago but I didn’t fit properly. I have owned resin dolls before but the largest was my 69cm loongsoul girl. He is bigger than that with a head on.

    9. You should absolutely do this, and then spam All The Pictures(!!)
Side question: d'you have a recommendation for good resource(s) for historical Persian costuming? This has great written descriptions and provides context and historical background, but no pictures, which is usually the most helpful for pattern drafting (at least for me)

    10. I am spoiled for choices when it comes to historic costume because I am a historical Reenactor; let me see if I can find some of the Persian stuff I have...

https://www.scribd.com/document/4786465/A-Step-Further-from-Fantasy-Middle-Eastern-Garb-in-the-SCA This is one of the best short resources another reenactor put together on Medieval middle eastern clothing styles, and what is Modern or fantasy and what is actually historical, but you need a scribd account I think

Silk Road Conjectures This lady's done a lot of research on the Silk Road and cultures along it.
Persona: 16thc Indian and Persian Here's another researcher's blog.

Persia in particular has left us a wealth of beautiful and detailed paintings, so if you know the basics of rectangular construction* and can look at some online images of actually 1500s Persian paintings you can get a good idea of what the upper class usually shown in those may have been wearing at the time.

      * Pin on SCA - 1502-1722 Safavid Persia this is one example of patterns from a turkish ensemble, but you see the idea. I can't vouch for the total authenticity of this specific one but if you look at "extant Persian 15th century CE clothing" you can often see what analysis has been made of them.

Most of what I have is on women's clothing but I think my Harlequin will be getting something built a bit like this:
Patterns of Time Ottoman Turkish Man Pattern, Medieval-Renaissance-Elizabethan | Turkish men, Ottoman, Turkish clothing

PPPS: I basically mean to find a good actual persian miniature and see if I can duplicate the outfit as historically as possible. Probably Safavid period Persia (Iran)

    11. Does anyone know if Loongsoul's Real Skin resin is close to VL Parchment?
Considering a Tatsuo on an LS 68cm body.

    12. Got my shipping notification today for my Tatsuo head. Finally some happiness. I been struggling with covid for a few weeks, I was sure I was not going to see the head :)

    13. oh yay! I hope you feel better soon!

The fabric has arrived for my Persian outfit reconstruction project. I've decided to duplicate the outfit of the figure on the left in this painting by Aqa Mirak in 1530. The tricky bit will be how tissue thin the silk and faux-silks are, and handling and manipulating them, but at least he's huge so that helps. Fiddly or difficult costumes feel easier in 1/3 scale.

    14. I hope you feel better soon! Wonderful news about Tatsuo! :D

    15. Thank you. I’m feeling much better. I finally got hungry again. Now I’m very hopeful I will recover soon. I’m so excited to get my Tatsuo head. I can’t wait to see it on the DollsTown 18yr body. I still don’t have a name for him :)

    16. So happy! I got my Tatsuo head today. I named him Adachi and he is so beautiful. The artist told me the head was smaller than the other heads. But I think he looks great on the DollsTown 18 year old body. But I don’t mind the head being smaller. I actually prefer it that way. So what do you guys think?

      Here is Haru :)

    17. Wow! He looks gorgeous. I think he fits nicely on the DT18 :D

Which resin color did you order?

      • x 1
    18. The head is in Venetian Luna white resin and the body in pale resin. The color match is almost perfect the body is just a little bit lighter but almost not noticeable:)

here is a picture without the wig. You can see the proportions are good :)
