1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Single Versus Double Jointed Bodies

Oct 19, 2009

    1. Thanks for your input guys ^u^ it's all good information and it's interesting to hear insight.

    2. Another thing to keep in mind is company posing shots- most of the time companies will show the dolls in a variety of poses to show their range, especially in parts sections where the bodies are listed separately. Double-jointed bodies usually have the ability to double-over their limbs, whereas single-jointed can usually only go to about a 90 degree bend, maybe slightly more, but it's rare for such dolls to be able to touch their own faces without modifications of some kind.

Another thing to usually look for are elastic channels- generally speaking, there will be two elastic channels in the elbow and knee joints of a double-jointed doll, and there will only be one for single-jointed. One major exception is Iplehouse, as the elbows on their new bodies are double-jointed, but there is a visible seam between the forearm and the "peanut" that forms the elbow joint. And lastly, if you're curious about a particular sculpt, look it up or ask questions! It was from some digging on here that I recently found out that one of the dolls on my wishlist, a Dearmine Priscilla, has double-jointed elbows and single-jointed knees. :)
