Sio2 Dolls

This company has caught my eye. Such a cool looking style.

 

@Miri I understand how you feel! I can't decide if I want the deer boy or not, he's super cute and it's very tempting..

Does anyone know if any of the shopping services would have a layaway option? I'll probably wait until he comes up on the market place...but it would be nice to know I have some sort of option for next time!

I think my biggest issue with SIO2 dolls is that I don't hear about (re)releases until SPO or other dealers announce their pre-orders (and by that time SIO2's own pre-order is generally over). What's the strategy for getting timely heads-up on releases so we can go through Taobao?

 

Throwing myself in here and seconding Kimchi! I'm not based where SPO is, so I'd have to pay massive fees to get anything, at which point it makes much more sense for me to just buy from Taobao and take the hit from those fees.

I'd be interested to know if there are methods of keeping updated too!

 

I'd love to know if/when Sio2 re-releases their ragdoll, she's such a cutie!
In other news I went through Spreenow and ordered the centaur for my buddy Nattou, even with the double jointed option it was cheaper than going through SPO. (I haven't paid for shipping yet though since I don't get that until Spreenow actually sends it my way I think.)
Does anyone know if Sio2 3D models and then prints their dolls? Some of those images look like model renders rather than actual photos. =D

 

Just a heads-up - there appears to be a new little one on Sio2's Taobao! It looks like she's on Ragdoll's body.

 

Sio2 just released a new doll called LipStick that looks very similiar to RagDoll! She can be purchased with 5 extra hands as well as HUMAN FEET omgggg i'm super super super tempted!

Stacy has it on her site already!

Sio2 doesn't usually re-release their limited edition dolls. It's limited for a limited time BUT they did just release LipStick which is very similiar to RagDoll!
Also I believe the artist sculpts their dolls as 3D models and maybe has it printed out to be casted in resin. I'm not 100% sure though since I can't really read the chinese on their blog.

 

Ahhh!! LipStick is very cute!! It looks like she's listed as $378 on Stacy's Pink Ocean--does anyone know what price she would be if you bought her through Sio2 instead of a dealer? I know the boy they released had a huge markup when you went through a dealer..wondering if it's the same with the new girl..?

 

I'm looking at Sio2's taobao page, and it looks like it would be around $242.50, so looks like they marked it up a bit.

I was about to quote the same. I've been realizing, as I'm sure some of you all have as well, you end up cheaper on some dolls if you just get the doll from Taobao. I ordered a Magic Time doll from Sunny's World and she was cheaper than the one on eBay. Same goes with the new release from Kids Sky, Beeswax and Turquoise. I have Beeswax my cart now and she's cheaper on Taobao and with a full set than the doll alone on other dealer sites.

 

The only thing is I can't write in Chinese to talk to the artist. I ordered Bleater last year through an agent and waited over 3 months which was the pre-order wait period. In the end I never got my blank doll even though I saw people on DoA, Tumblr and Instagram received their Bleater before I did even though I placed my order around the same time if not sooner.

I asked the agent to contact the artist multiple times to ask what is going on with the delay and they told me the artist said to check back in 2 weeks.... then another 2 weeks until over 4 months later the agent told me that the artist ended up not making enough to fulfill my order so I got a full refund. I don't know Taobao well enough to contact the artist and I have no idea how to apply for a refund after 4 months of pre-order/delay. I know if it was on eBay you won't be able to even get a refund since the listing is older than 60 days. I don't mind paying an agent 10%+ commission fee to deal with all that for me especially if they will refund me the money anyways if the artist doesn't come through with delivering my doll.

Especially after that experience, I just can't trust the artist enough to order through Taobao which I have done for other items but they were not pre-orders. Maybe if I can write fluent Chinese and have a guide on how to apply for a refund if I don't get my doll... If someone has a guide for that then I might consider.

 

Oh no, that's horrible! I hope everything works out for you.. This is why I've hesitated to order through a shopping service or else I would have jumped on the chance to get at least one of their dolls. I wonder if doing a group order through a DoA member or something of that nature might be better??

 

@JellysFancy I feel so sorry for you. I just bought Bleater sleeping ver. through Taobao on December 31, 2016. If you still want Bleater, I think you still can order him in sleeping version. Taobao has a chatting app. So you can communicate with the shop. Based on my own experience, I always get an instant refund after I talk with the shop in Taobao. I don't think the artist cannot make all orders in time because it's a preorder. So the artist must finish all orders but maybe need more time to make.

They're two shop that sell Bleater in Taobao. I bought from here and the other shop is this one. I've been talking with these two shop. The second shop is replying so late. But the first shop answers more frequently. If you know which shop you've made a preorder, you maybe can communicate with them about this problem. You can talk with both of them in English.

BTW the first shop tells me that if I want to buy Bleater in open eyes version. Maybe they will open to preoder again in March. They're still not sure. I hopes it helps.

Note: I just talked with my shop. They decide to postpone a new Bleater preorder. So I don't know when Bleater's gonna re-release now.

 

Thanks so much for the links! I will be sure to check them out and see if Bleater will return. I placed an order for Bleater on Augst 18, 2016 and waited until mid December. The agent told me they have talked to the artist. They told me the artist said to wait 2 weeks (after waiting 3 months) to ship. I waited 2 weeks, then another 2 weeks and for some reason the artist didn't reply to my agent even though they messaged them multiple times to ask if it has been shipped. In the end, after waiting 4 months, they went ahead and processed a refund for me due to out of stock and/or non-fulfillment. Hopefully if Bleater returns this won't happen again :/ I'm not sure if it took longer since I also purchased a pair of those cute shoes and 2 weapons that it took longer but 4 months and no communication is disheartening :<

I assume it wasn't the shopping service's agent's fault. They messaged the artist multiple times for me. Eventually they stopped hearing from the artist and after waiting 4 months went ahead and refunded me the full amount which i'm thankful for since I was scared I wouldn't even get my money back since I waited so long...

 

I'm glad that I can help. I order Bleater and communicate with the shop by myself but I use a local shipping company to take care about paying my order and shipping my parcel from China to my country. I'm not sure that it's an agent in your opinion or not. So sorry. I pay around $100 for Sleeping Bleater with eyes and clothes (including oversea shipping fee) but it has no make-up and it's an unassembly version. Since It's an instant product and ready to ship. So I don't have an experience as you do. I wish you can order Bleater without problem when he's being re-release in the future. If you still have questions, please ask here or pm me. Yikes. That is really horrible. I'm glad you got your money back at least. I really hope that if you can work it out with another seller like fancat pointed out you can finally get your doll though another outlet. I haven't tried to purchase a pre-order doll but you certainly have made me aware of the risks if I ever go that route.
