Soom Gem Order Chance: Special Order - Speculation & Discussion Thread Part II

They do fantasy parts in SO... of course. This one has fantasy parts, and both Aloa and Sov as well. Maybe next will be a female companion... a female unicenta. ^^

 

Hehe! Well part of that deal was that I stop nagging how much time he spends on World of Warcraft, so in theory he's buying my silence! Fingers crossed some lucky money finds it's way to you...it does happen. About two months ago I found £50 (roughly $80) in the street by the side of a kerb!

 

true but besides the centaurs there were no hooves or horns or other parts XD which would kill me!

Odd that he's sitting in the Special Order category, considering Chrom was just released this week.

And if I've made any mistakes in this post, it's because my brain is currently a ball of fluff!

 

I wonder if after the unicentas they'll find some other fantasy beings to be made into Special Order dolls? ^^

 

I'd probably die and just take the next flight to korea and surrender my wallet and future earnings to soom XD

 

It would be kind of interesting if Soom took their older sculpts and gave them new/different fantasy parts and did them as special order.

 

*rubs forehead* Am I the only one who is very very bothered by the disorder and chaos of Soom's recent releases? THEY ARE MAKING NO SENSE. DX In the last few months their schedule has apparently become "whenever we feel like, in whatever weird category we feel like." It's making budgeting and planning VERY difficult.

Now that's clearly the Idealian body. Only question is, 51 or 72? Or a new size!? Who knows, anything is possible with Soom these days oO

 

They're really too fast this time. Galena, Chrom, Aloa and Sov, then Zinc... I wonder if they'll be releasing more SO soon. >.> Next MD is a female, right?

 

me too kaorika, I've got a bit of a set budget for dolls and keeping to it is becoming extremely hard because it almost seems like every week or so they release a doll ^__^;;

I wish it was something like

1st week of month - New SO doll (Intermittent between idealian/gem)
2nd week of month - New MD
3rd week of month - A BREAK.
4th week of month - New Idealian

As much as I love the MD's and the SO's, I would love for Soom to extend their regular line also. By the time I fell in love with Lupin he was gone and there was one point when Lazule was sold out and then re-emerged. I know Rhodo and Ivory are more recent as are the newest Gem members, but maybe they haven't greatly extended the line because of the success of the MD's and SO's.

I guess its cause people rush out and go "OH GOD ITS LIMITED I WONT BE ABLE TO GET IT LATER ON" so they put out copious amounts of them cause we all know, limited sells because it triggers impulse buying xD

Its disappointing they dont extend the regular line, my friend whos just getting into bjd's loves a lot of soom dolls but could never afford them because of the second hand prices.. and the regular line just isnt as i guess 'amazing' as some of the MD's

 

Aren't Galena and Chrom still available? With some of the recent glitches (re: Onyx and one of the other SOs appearing as available when they weren't), it's hard to tell at times.

I still wish they would do more work on the SG joint system.

 

They are, I personally ordered Galena. Sometimes the SO's just sit there for awhile but others like Vesuvia are gone within seconds/minutes.
I guess it just depends if people were buying for the limited faceup/skintone/fantasy parts.

Ugh yes, there is nothing I would like more than arms that dont give me the utter...anyway.

 

I agree with the rush/panic on buying the limiteds, but also I'm wondering if Soom are struggling in any way in these recession hit times? Maybe they have no choice, but to double the creativity/releases to keep the finance coming in to stay afloat...?

It's hard and frustrating for doll collectors to plan, especially when they don't stick to the plan (!), but of course bjd's are such a luxurious, niche market. I guess we will never really know, but I don't think Soom are just being evil!

And I would be even sadder to think of them and their dolls not existing anymore...

 

I use kips for all my Super Gems. ^^ They help a lot with the floppiness. XD

And yes, I vote for schedule. And sticking to it.

 

I think MORE dolls would sell if they gave us some breathing room. They have no idea how many dolls I've had to pass up recently just because I already bought another release from them two weeks ago DX


Oddball theory: What if they've produced the ID body in SuperGem size? That might explain why it's on the Gem site.

Seems like they're trying to get away from the SG body. Its joint system is pretty dated and actually wasn't that great to begin with (like hannahnoface says: arm posing RAGE) and I get the feeling they'd rather trash it than redesign it. :C Seems like they were really pushing MG over SG, but everyone was complaining about the MG size... so, maybe they've done ID in SG size?

 

yes, i need breathing room x.x I cant exactly afford a $700+ doll every week or so...thank god they do layaway or they'd sell nothing.
my Epidos is hot glue sueded in his arms and although it helps a bit..it doesnt help that much.
I think the super gem sizewise is fine, I do think they need to redo those arms again though, at least the joints or maybe add some grooves in near the shoulder for extra support.
The mega gem has one huge flaw though, he has no hip joint and cant slouch or anything (well that slight slouch from the under bust joint)

I think they're thinking "get as many dolls out as you can, someone will buy them anyway" but really, they need to stick to stuff cause as everyones said, we all carefully plan our purchases...

I still like the SG body. They did improve the elbow joints a few months ago, didn't they? >.> I don't have that many problems with the SG body. But the ID body is more problematic to my experience. Trouble sitting straight, that is. >.>

 

Oh I dont mind the super gem body dont get me wrong, my older chalco's arms annoy me to no end though, xD its usually fixed with some hot glue sueding though >>
If the idealian is anything like the mega gem...sitting is such an issue with them its ridiculous.
