They would just make new molds of her head from a modified sculpt. Same thing they do for when they have elf-ear or romantic eye versions of dolls

Just for your guys information because I have yet to see some post this, I asked SOOM if they planned on putting the new body with all their future SO girls now or at least giving the option between the two bodies. They said that they are unsure at this time if they will release the SO girls with the new body or not as of right now. Although this doesn't mean much because they have said in the past "I am unsure of this time" or "We have no plans for it in the near future" and then the next day they release it lol so I think they like to keep some things a surprise for the customers.

Also, in case no one knows (maybe I'm the only clueless one LOL) SOOM does ear piercing for free (one on each side only) if you request it. That is amazing. I never knew. I know many companies charge for that service, I believe. I will deft get my next SO girl, hopefully the Breccia, with her ears pierced.

Since everyone has been talking about the SO Breccia, anyone have any speculations on what they will do for a theme with her or face up? I'm really curious to see the "SO outfit" she will get. Hopefully it will be nicer than the MD outfit for her. I wasn't crazy over the original LE face up either but I'm hoping they will do something more unique to her. I'm also curious if they leave the head as a full head, if they will keep that weird hair head cap they did with the MD. It's not horrible really, it stays in even without the magnets and makes her head much smaller in comparison (she wears 8-9, 9-10 is way too big without modding.)

 

I really hope that the new body will be an option for upcoming female SOs. But, if Breccia comes out with the old body, I will probably get her anyway - she's just such a special sculpt, and I won't be able to pass her up. Though, I have to admit, it would be odd that after investing time and effort into the new body, they'd keep selling the old one exclusively for SOs. They only have, perhaps, 2 more Legend girls planned this year, so that means they'd only offer the new body two more times until next year? I'm hoping that's not the case!

 

The best would be, if Soom would offer the new body as an option. The way Spiritdoll handles it, is great, that you can choose 1st or 2nd body. There are many people, who don't like the new body- like me .

 

Yep, I agree. Giving an option would be the best solution. I'm sure that the old body is loved by many, so it should always remain an option. After all, Soom has already sculpted it, so why let a good body go to waste?

 

Especially for those who want to add fantasy parts to the doll it have to be the old body, as the new body and the old parts aren't compatible. So I really hope Soom will give the choice.

 

Well, it is possible to take a casted head and mod it into a face-plate system (from which you then can make new molds) - but it requires extra work. And if they start with one older sculpt, they will probably want to make all the future SO ones with the new system... Which means more work. But is is possible. If they use permanent metal molds, they would then have to make a new set - which would be additional work too.

But if they use silicone molds, they have to make them anew after every 8-10 casts anyway, so this step would not be additional.

The main reason why I suspected that they will make the SO with the old body is the fact that they said the basic dolls will still keep the old body in future.

But let's hope that they really will offer it as option - this would be awesome!

The red skin to me looks like they just painted the doll in red =/ but i do like the ns skin one.

 

I'm not a big fan of the red skin as like you said, I think it looks painted on. I know red is a hard color to get right in general in art. I think it's known to fade over time compared to the other colors.

April is like a week away! I really hope we get a teaser early in April for the SO instead of halfway through the month. Though I have a sneaking suspicion they may hold off on the girl SO since they just had the free choice & the first Legends was a girl....but who knows maybe the SO will just be the new body by itself, you never know.

Damn i'm broke right now! But i'm so putting her on Layaway. Damn, spoilt my plans for a Dia Male, but! I need Breccia xD.

 

LOL! For me, it is the worst timing ever. I am going away for a holiday on the 30th and will have no internet access until late in the evening, and I bet she will be sold out in like two minutes. Why, of all the possible dates, the 30th?

But oh well, at least other people will get her and we get to see some more pictures of her around ^^

One of these days Soom is going to change my mind, esp. with the new female body. But I think this time I'll just look forward to seeing more Breccias around. The outfit looks promising, too.

 

It looks like she's on the new body--check out the square shape of her shoulder joint.

 

I think SO Breccia's body is new body. In photo, the shoulder joint is different from old body. If it is new body, I think the price will more than $557(other SO doll's price). May be $560~$600?

Breccia looks so pretty... I love the hair accessory~ :3 Now that the new body is out, I think the new dolls will get the new bodies. ^^ Maybe they will also have a body sale in the near future for us who own the old dolls?

 

They WOULD do this when I'm out of money. And, I could finagle the funds to put her on layaway, at the very least, but it would be so irresponsible and I think I would regret that more than missing out on her. But, man, am I going to pine endlessly. I wish it was an ordering period without the limited amount of dolls, then I could save and get her in the middle of the month. But I doubt 50 dolls will last till the 15th, though it's nice they're giving it that long.

 

Woot! I'm safe! Never been a big fan of Breccia. Her nose bothers me, for some reason. Maybe it is the nostrils? I don't know, anyone else know what could be making me go, "Meh," about her nose?
