1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Gem Order Chance: Special Order - Speculation & Discussion Thread Part II

May 4, 2011

    1. Does anyone knows if soom does custom faceup? im dying to know lol

    2. As far as I know they don't offer custom face-up.

    3. no, they dont do custom faceups anymore, i have asked soom about this just recent, and they told me they stopped about a year ago.

    4. 7 Chroms left. LOL.

No, they don't do custom face ups anymore after they deleted Carnel, because I asked them. >.> But they will redo a limited face up if your doll's face up is ruined during transit for no additional fee. It happened to my Chrom. >.<

By the way, does anyone notice the slight changes in the new Super Gem boy body? I received my Epidos a few weeks ago, and his body is slightly shorter than Chalco/Chrom, and also his hands are not very detailed. The veins are missing a lot of details. D: I am very upset about it.

    5. I have height differences is a couple of my dolls like that, one of my dolls is taller than he is stated to be and another is shorter. I'm assuming that there is shrinkage, or shape changes in the molds as they get used. You also get larger parting seems from molds that have gotten more use or are at the end of their lifespan. Maybe the lack of definition in the hands is due to older molds?

I am so glad I am not moved to re-buy my Chrom in WS. He looks so different I can't see him as my character! Thank goodness.

    6. idrisfynn : Do you think the hands would be better-sculpted in a couple of months when the mold is changed? >.< I am wary to order more from them until the details are fixed. D:

    7. That's strange. My Super Gems including Epidos and SO Heliot are not missing the details like the older ones. I would ask Soom about this. Maybe it's just a flaw in your Epidos. First I thought my Epidos is smaller than my Chalco as well, but after I've restrung him he's identical with my other boys.

    8. Ereskigal : I have restrung him! D: But he's still not the same... and the details... D:

    9. Silicon molds degenerate over time, and with each use. Part of what happens is that you lose some detailing which is why they eventually have to be redone/replaced with new ones.

    10. As far as i see the first pics of Epidos i noticing the same thing, he's shoter, but as nobody pointed or complain, or get surpirced in any way i believed that was sculpted in this was, i mean shorter than a supergem standard body.
I've checked the sale page and there's nothing stated about height, so maybe it could be useful open a separate threads for Epidos so the owner can debating about him ;)

    11. I did report it to Soom and they're investigating it right now. Told me I have to wait until tomorrow. >.> I really want to take photos of the hands compared to my other Soom's hands, but the boy is now in my friend's house and she's out of town until July 1st. So no comparison photos. I just hope that Soom would check before shipping the orders out. >.< I definitely love their detailed hands and this has been such a put off. I've seen the photos of this Chrom on their website and it seems that the details are lost on his hands as well...

    12. well i'll keep my fingre crossed for you, as claudedmind already posted sometimes it could heppen that details changes over time due to silicon mold degeneration...

    13. ...my epidos has the same hands as my chalco, he is only very slightly shorter than my chalco, i think the shortness is in the neck.

      Height
      Hands

I think the next special order will be Cass..or even they might start on the 2010 dolls..like Breccia maybe?
I did suggest a light grey sard to them o:

    14. hannah : I'm sorry to tell you this, but your Chalco is NS, that probably was molded inside the same silicone mold as your Epidos and mine. And yes, both hands in your photo are missing the vein details I have on my Chrom and my other Soomies (including my Tan Chalco). I will show you my Chrom's hands (he was casted in 2009) :

You can clearly see the veins bulging... You can't find the veins like these in your photo. >.>

And I found this from the Japanese blog of Soom shop :

It's a picture of Euclase's hand compared to Soom Ender's. ^^ As you can see, Euclase, as an older MD, still has the veins clearly.

    15. Well, I'm suitably disappointed :( my Monzo's hands are lovely and detailed but thats probably cause the mega gem mold is newer.
I will say that my chalco was second hand and came dirty, he had to be cleaned up and that required a magic eraser pretty much all over, including the hands.
Sigh, seems my luck is crap.

    16. It wasn't your fault. And Soom didn't know about this until I recently brought it up and reported it. ;A; Don't feel so sad.

    17. Thanks fransyung for the photo, I wonder if the WS Chrom will have the detailed hands especially after you've reported it to Soom. I dread to think it'd be non-detailed... because those details really make for lovely hands. :(

    18. I bought an SG body for a Chrom head I used to own... late 2009? Ordered around early November '09? Around the time they were probably casting Sphalers and I'm very sure that he still had veiny hands. Sad to hear that this was an issue. I wonder if they possibly cast a prototype body from the master sculpt to then make more moulds from, and somehow it got "corrupted" for lack of better term?

    19. Lelite : I think you might have a point. I know that DOD is doing just that, resulting in chubbier dolls. ^^;;;;

Galileo : I'll update as soon as I hear something from Soom. ^^

I hope this won't deter anyone from buying their dolls because Soom dolls are just amazing in real life. ^^;;; We just have to be a little patient, and hopefully they'll answer back soon and fix this problem.

    20. I love detailed hands and feet and whatever else (;)), but I don't think it would stop me from buying Soom dolls, whereas it would be a shame if they let this totally slip I think what they offer overall is still a decent doll package, as in: quality of resin, creativity, customer service and price.

edit note: I have a pic of my 2nd Beryl (S/O Love Me or Die) hands and also my briefly owned MA Saiph - they barely have any detail at all, but I realise of course that girls hands are probably less likely to be veiny! :)

In case anyone wants to see the hands, I'm happy to post in the picture request forum.^^
