1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Gem Order Chance: Special Order - Speculation & Discussion Thread Part II

May 4, 2011

    1. fransyung - Oh yes, I forgot about London...BUT (;)), though he is described as 'The Moor', this doesn't relate exactingly to ethnic origin but more to location (North Africa) and religious leanings. If it were not for the dark-tan, if he were a ns resin let's say, there's not much in the sculpted features that give him a strong ethnic direction...

Just to use Iplehouse as an example again, you look at the features of Erzulie, Ashanti, Asa, Kamau, Bichun and little Benny etc, whatever other resin choice you put them in, they would still retain that specific African/Asian look.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Soom and I love what they do especially with the fantasy characters. I wouldn't want to see them change anything just for the sake of doing something different! ;)

    2. OMG! Has anyone else just seen the new doll S/O Zinc, The White Archer. He's a centuaroid!!!!!!!:D

      Link to news thread here

Seriously, I think I want to cry as there is no way I can afford another doll...:...(

    3. The thing people forget is that white is just as much an ethnicity as any other race. The other thing is that races come in all facial shapes/looks. A good number of Sooms dolls could look various ethnicities in a stylized sort of way if you were to give them differing skin colors.

    4. Cloudedmind - True :) I think the more stylized look opens itself up to more interpretation, whereas the IP dolls are more realistic. Guess it comes down to what you want for your dolls character and of course the hobby is all about customisation and interpretation. So what is realisitic is not always priority...I actually like and prefer the Soom dolls more because of their semi-stylized look^^
But just to clarify, for me to believe in 'London' as a Moor, takes more (!) than a change in resin colour. This is most likely down to the limitations of my imagination than any creative failings on Soom's part! ^^

    5. I'm crying right along with you. T_T Zinc looks absolutely gorgeous, but there's no way I could afford a centaur.

    6. kouject - **sending consoling hugs**:)

It's hard to tell what the scale of him is, but proportionally, he looks fantastic! This is my dream...a beautiful unicorn type like Heliot with full horse-back!

    7. Darn it, Soom! Stop killing us!!!! D:

OKAY... Stop me if I'm wrong, but he seems a lot TALLER than Epidos??? OAO

EDIT : OMG!!! He's MEGA GEM UNICORN! Not Super Gem!!! I'm doomed... *scuttles away to look for money*

    8. Either that, or he's a lot smaller. As in Idealian51 smaller. His upper body is certainly not that of a Mega Gem.

    9. I thought his body looked different then a super gem, but where exactly does it say he's a mega gem?

That might explain why he got moved from the Idealian page to the Gem SO page, but if he's an ID51 centaur, oh I'm going to cry, because I'll have to fight not to buy him. xD

    10. But his upper body is clearly Mega Gem... >.>

PS : I have a Monzo at home and I am sure that's Mega Gem... =A=

    11. He definitely doesn't look like the Monzo I had sitting around here just yesterday. Especially the chest.

    12. He does look kinda beefy up top for a Super-Gem, so maybe he is MG! This is more than I can take...I thought I was lucky to get a chance at Chrom and now this. If he is MG I will definately want him as his stature is just going to be too hard to pass up on. I really like big dolls!

edit note: This is what I mean about not knowing the scale, he could be a different size altogether.

So, looking at Shoshon and Ender, Zinc could start anywhere between $685-$755 for basic?

    13. I was looking at his biceps and those are clearly more defined than the SuperGem male arms. So he's either a MegaGem or Idealian, either of which are probably waaaaay more man-resin than I can handle.

I'm kinda peeved that this is the second male centaur we've had. Where's my centaur mare?

    14. I dont think he's a mega gem o_o thats epidos's body and his torso was bigger than that. also monzos chest joint is below his pecs by a few centimeters, by the look of that one, the pecs are the joint. :I they look so similar though it has to be an idealian 51 torso.

    15. Certainly not IDEALIAN because that's not their website. XD

Oh wait... can it be another mini gem?

    16. I really hope you're right, hannahnoface, and he is an ID51. If he's bigger I might need to rob a bank.

    17. It is puzzling - remember in the news thread it said he was moved from the Idealian page.

    18. He is lovely! I wonder if they'll release him later in human form like they did Aloa and Sov. I think the horse body is the same as Epidos, but with a centaur-specific upper body.

    19. Soom just likes to confuse us :sweat

    20. After comparing with my Gluino, yes, that IS an IDEALIAN upper body, but the lower horse body, I don't think the usual Epidos body can take the weight of an ID upper part! It's clearly too heavy. >.> Even my Epidos has to be pushed forward almost constantly, his upper body just loves to bounce backward! D:<
