But....she is just Medusa. Seems like Soom is starting out very literally with the "Legend" series, to the point that it kind of seems silly to use the classical North African story but then change her name to Gneiss.
Especially since Medusa is probably in the public domain by now . I'm just relieved they didn't put an Epidos extension on Gneiss! (And maybe they felt they needed to keep the rock/gem motif going for her name). But someday somebody has to make a naga/Enchida doll! With a articulated snake tail. Hopefully for less than 1000.00
I do wonder how long it's going to be before Soom starts to run out of stone-themed names... although it's funny that they haven't actually used many of the best-known gems. Where's Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, or Sapphire? Too obvious? Or maybe they're saving them? fishcake: Not for sale, but have you seen this? It really shows the potential of that theme, I think.
Logodae I have seen that..and I want one! Though I don't need the dragon-fin extensions, but the jointing is just what I would want. Milkyushigirl did you get to go see that? The pictures looked amazing, it must have been so cool to be there in person!
wow, I havent seen that tail before O.o Awesome! I agree with you fishcake, I to want soom to make a naga, that may even get some of my friends to start with BJD
Oooh. I think she's just gorgeous and wasn't going to hesitate to order her- but then I read in here that someone else was holding out for the SO Breccia as well... I'm now completely paranoid that if I order this lovely lady I'll miss out on an SO Breccia as well. Argh- what to do! I'll probably be joining the waiting room for Gneiss though - I'm not too interested in her fantasy parts, but her strong features are just gorgeous.
Hiya everyone!! I'm glad to see there is a discussion thread for her!! I bought her last night!! I just couldn't resist!! I had planned on not buying any new dolls for a while and putting my doll funds into the dolls I have now but alas Gneiss had to come along and steal my heart! ^_^
Yeah, her face is very "meh" for me. I think SOOM should make more female sculpts along the lines of their most famous (like Dia), so we can have more gorgeous boy hybrids. And heads more like Saiph. That is a VERY desired head on a body that many think is just too big. So if they made heads more along THOSE aesthetics.... I mean, that personally for me, I don't really like the looks of sculpts like Gneiss. I like the more detailed ones. Especially around the brows, I always love that!
They can't do a mini-Saiph until Fall, at least. Soom has already eaten all my monies. oooo, a Saiph Sphinx ..that would be awesome, though it's hard to type. Really, a Sphinx lion body shouldn't be harder than a horse body..and the legs are shorter!
Honestly I think the simplicity of her fantasy parts is refreshing. I myself am tired of SOOM claw footed dolls. I suggested to Victoria about little gem scorpions and she said she'd run it by the development team and to keep checking back. SOOM always amazes me and I am excited by them trying to improve their dolls and putting more quality into them. And their customer services and listening to their customers ideas is always top notch.
Yeah, I think so many of the improvements on the new body were from customer suggestions (like the resculpt of the hands). I'm pretty excited to see it in person!
Wewt- officially 'another one' now- I just put her on a 4 month layaway that will probably be paid off in 3 months. With faceup, and the extra type body because I want her to be able to hunch up! And I'm with Milkyushigirl on the fantasy parts- it IS a nice change to have something a bit less extravagant, yet still out of the ordinary.
