Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Soom Gneiss- Birth of A Goddess

Mar 6, 2012

    1. I noticed that too--It might just be that particular photo but I decided I was ok with it, as I have an IOS that is really bad that way ...and I found I could just pull hair over it and it was ok. Mostly I will have to adapt to the faceplate, which makes a lot of sense in casting and swapping eyes, but for some reason I find them a bit creepy, and it is important that they stay on.
Soom isn't great with gluing in magnets so I will get to see if her face wants to stay put. But I did fall in love with her face, and I even like the "noodles" and the wings, and I admit I was really curious to try the new body. I think the hands are a nicer sculpt than before, too.

    2. I was thinking that too, fishcake, about the hands. They seem slimmer and much nicer. The more I stare at the body the more I want it but I can't decide if I want to wait and see if other owners find kinks with the first batch or not. I find they are horrible with glueing and I always have to redo glue. Maybe the face plates are not magnets but like fairyland...their minifee snap shut, no magnets needed. Thanks for also answering my unasked question/theory. I was wondering if hair would hide it well enough lol. I'm okay with face plates. They don't creep me out but I kind of don't like the obvious seam I notice on the Feeple 65 where the faceplate connects in. Makes it not look as realistic. I like the heads because you can't see that seam line under the wig. I'm curious how sooms will look up close. Either way, I am really excited but I have two girls on layaway with them and Ive been waiting out on a SO breccia. I'd hate to add her then Breccia comes out after! Gah! Lol

    3. And won't you know that they WILL release the SO Breccia next month? Just because I am pretty much all dolled out until next november at the earliest, in fact I should be listing my rolly heads on the MP at this very moment. And I promise when she ships in July ;) that I will take a ton of photos of all parts of her to let other peeps get a close-up. I might have skipped on her until they work the bugs out (because I am sure there will be something freaky about her) but my husband actually liked her and told me to go for it, and who am I to argue. Thank goodness for the larger bust ;)

    4. This made me laugh. Ah, the power of boobies. SOOM does do a good job with making them powerful, that's for sure.

    5. Well, she's pretty, but I am with those who feel a bit underwhelmed. I guess after all that waiting I expected something extraordinary. The body is great, though, so I suppose it was worth the wait! I love her dress, which is actually similar to what I want for my incoming Topaz. The staff is a bit too cartoon-y for me, though, again would probably work for my Topaz

Eh, well, I should be happy that I'm saved this time. I do look forward to future releases, because I must have that body!

    6. I wish they showed the wing and snake attachement without the wig or even just the parts separately. I'm really curious as to how fixed into place they are and whether they can accomodate much variety in wig styles.

Sadly, I think I have to give her a pass. I think she'll turn out to be a spectacular repaint, but it looks like she's only available in normal skin. Kind of a deal-breaker for me when I'm financially committed to other things right now. Gone are the days when I could buy a doll just out of curiosity!

    7. I agree with you 100%!!!! Go figure! Lol!

It kinda makes me sad...Soom is so creative and edgy with fantasy parts/colors/etc..but their girls' faces have been a bit bland lately. I want to see some more "strong" faces. Recently they have all seemed "sweet"...where are the faces like Vesuvia and Beryl?

    8. I agree on the face sculpt..i do prefer much more the bold girl like Vesuvia and Beryl..

    9. It looks like there is some flexibility in where they go since the snakes seemed to move around on her head. She may not have pockets for the magnets, but maybe a floating set like Resinsoul between the layers of the head. Or the magnets might even go just under the wig, though I would be surprised at that. Victoria might even say if you wrote to her!

Is there a waiting room yet or would it echo? I hope I am not the only one getting her! (sad panda face).

    10. I hope to join you soon fishcake! ^-^ It would have been interesting to see what kind of fantasy parts they would have put on the new body but I think she is beautiful even without them. I am a little leary about the snakes because in real life snakes really scare me, but maybe since these are just resin ones they will be ok... if not then I can always sell them later. I need to make another payment on my Vesuvia FC layaway then after that I hopefully will be able to scrounge up enough extra dolly funds to get her.

    11. You can think of them as rice noodles ;)--I hope you can put her on layaway--I know her release happened when everyone was dried up from earlier events, and the order period is short. I wonder if they will extend it or just make a few as testers. One thing I didn't do was order seam removal--I hope I am not sorry later! (I have the tools to do it, I just don't know if I will do as good a job as Soom would have..especially on an unfamiliar body.

    12. Haha, Yeah noodles! Or lizards.... I don't mind lizards so much.:) I'm really hoping I can pull it off too, I probably shouldn't since I do still have Vesuvia on layaway but... she is so pretty, and with a new body! :D Plus I am worried that many people wont be ordering and will do the 'wait and see game' because of the short ordering period, or the lack of fantasy parts, or iffyness of the new body, or whatever, and so later it will be near impossible to find her on the MP! If I get her, I think I will do everything but seam removal, body blushing, and wig (I think I want to try a long white or silver wig on her instead of the blonde ponytail).

    13. I think that would be wonderful--it would make her look more like a Diety and less like a princess..I was wondering if I could sneak a red/coppery wig on her--I guess it depends on how the faceup comes out. But yes, the fear that she wouldn't be on the MP later was a big part of why I went ahead and pushed the Buy button. Soom makes it awfully easy to buy from them :o

    14. Yes, darn them with there pretty dolls, easy payment methods, flexible layaways, and great customer service!
Yes, I have a rather large story line that has several goddesses and seers and as you've mentioned she has very much an oracle look already so I was thinking to add to that ethereal vibe with the white wig and then maybe even a really shear veil... dunno, we'll see.... definitive character development is still in progress.

I thought maybe a red would look good with her face-up but it wasn't what I was going as far as her character concerned so I decided no, but I would love to see yours with one! Do you have any solid character ideas or names yet?

    15. I'm surprised it took Soom so long to do a Medusa doll but unfortunately, I think I like AH's better. I'm just not sold on the face or the snakes. I do like the head wings staff and outfit though. Sadly, with all the changes Soom has been making to their Gems I doubt I'll be Soomed ever again (at least for the big girls). I don't like the new body and I hate face plates! Oh well, I don't exactly have the money to spend anyway. :(

    16. I dont like her. I am safe.

I dont think I like the new body at all.

I dont like the way the knees look when bent..they look weird with those extra peices in there. I dont think the elbow joints look very good when bent either..and her shoulder joint looks weird on the top too.

And the wrist balls are huge..when before they were hidden in the forearm.

I dont know..hopefully she will be a fantastic poser..but looks wise..I am not too thrilled.
For the thigh joint..I think a simple line would have been better, rather than the sloping dip way they did it..it doesn't look like it adds anything pose wise that a traditional mobility thigh joint wouldn't.

I dont know,it could just be the pictures,or maybe I just need to get used to it. But it wont be with Gneiss.

    17. Zelinas asked:
(hangs head) I've been calling her Noodles...I think she will pretty much just be a Greek goddess, since the clothes are easy to sew and I have a lot of trim--I have a Beryl that I think will be Egyptian, and they can hang out together ;) Of all my dolls only two have real backstories, the rest are somewhat "we sit and look cool and wear ethnic and historical costume", or in a couple of cases, scarves. Work has been busy this year!
Which is why I love hearing what other people are planning--everyone is so creative!

    18. I really wish I had the money to get Gneiss, I think she is enchanting! And the strong face-up is dynamite. I've been looking at her pictures like once an hour since she was released :doh.

Oh well, I'll live vicariously through those who buy her.

    19. I am gonna try to get her and base her off the albino corn snake. Pink, reds and whites. White hair and pink shaded eyes. Also, maybe add some more wings to her. And a corset or long trail dress.

    20. I love this idea!!! One of my snakes is an albino milksnake (similar to corn) and I adore her colors!!! Can't wait to see your girl if you are able to get her!
