Soom Idealian: York - Time Voyager

Mar 2, 2011

    1. He's soooo prettyyy...:o I'm seeing a bit of Euclase in him, actually.

      I don't suppose that an Idealian head would fit on any other body...or that anyone would split the head off in the first place...or that I'd have enough money to buy the head anyway... :|

    2. Ha! And they release him in NS just when I thought I was safe. :sweat Not that I'm in love with NS as a color, but still...

      I wasn't sure about the eyes at first, but they are growing on me as I look at him longer. They gave him 16mm because his eyes are longer than most, but I'm almost sure he'd look better with 14mm eyes. That outfit is TDF and perfect for my Branon, Gavin!

      I have too many layaways right now, but if I can finish one of them and still swing it, I might give him a try.

    3. Good to see people planning on getting him. This guy is worth it! I think some people may have thought he was only available in tan, and not liking tan dolls turned their back on him. I'm not always a fan of tan but he's nice in both colours.

    4. Not likely, except for the EID bodies. I know the ID's have HUGE necks, meaning a huge neckhole. So any body you put it on would have to be just as big or really close like the EID's. I once saw a Monzo head which are close to the ID's on a Super gem body and it was hilarious to say the least.

    5. Hmmmmm......not sure about this one. The eyes look so wierd. They could have used a smaller eye, it looks abnormally big. I definately think he looks good in NS also but if I do get him it will be tan. The outfit is gorgeous too. I will have to stare at him more.

    6. Aw hell. He's absolutely gorgeous. And that outfit -- I HAVE to have that outfit.

      DANGIT SOOM, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME FOR THREE MONTHS IN A ROW. D8

      The only reason I'm dithering is that he's reminding me of Ender, a lot, and I already have Ender on layaway so... I dunno if I need two dolls that look so similar xD;

      I am NOT happy to see the "pay an extra arm and leg to get him in bronze" options from the MDs being translated over to ID dolls. x_x
      Edit: I mean having the skin colour option is good, but they charge WAY too much extra to do him in bronze. ;o;

    7. I am having the same dilemma but I think I have made my decision finally!

    8. Oh really? Then which decision was it? To get, or not to get? XDDD

    9. LOL He does remind me of Ender, but I LOVED Ender's face AND I REALLY want an Idealian so I am going to get him. :)

    10. Ugh... I'm afraid I'm going to have to follow your logic. I loved Ender too, so it's certainly not a bad thing that York reminds me of him. xD I also think more unique facups will bring out their differences much better. All of Soom's faceups are looking the same to me recently :?

      It's interesting that he's not really steampunk, as we originally thought. In fact, I don't even think the word "steampunk" came up in Soom's design process. They probably just said "let's give him a mechanical eye," and the resemblances to a steampunk theme were incidental and accidental.

      Reading the new info on the Idealian72 storyline yesterday, one of the things I found most interesting was the time portals concept, where they listed the multiple types of portals and so forth. What I'm loving is that his time gate is the Bermuda triangle. That is so awesome. XD

    11. I'm of the thinking that since I got Ender in NS, I should get York in Tan, since they both are so similar. I really don't have a tan character but I guess he could just be a pirate that hangs around! :apirate:

    12. Yes the tan color of Soom is expensive. But I have to say it is worth every cent of it. So far I've seen a lot of tan dolls with uneven tan coloring. Parts in which the skin is lighter etc. The Soom tan skin is absolutely smooth and even, in one word perfect. I'm happily paying my 80something € for an even, smooth tanning than less and get what I've seen on owner pics of many doll companies. I own a tan Chalco and have seen lots of pics of the tan Soom dolls, and all had been perfect.

    13. I made my decision instantly. he HAS to be mine. xD i'm in LOOOOOOOOVE!! again. xD damn you soom!!!

    14. I have seen a lot of pictures where the tan has worn away especially around the shoulders and under the arms. Does this happen with Soom? I am seriously thinking of making this guy my first tan doll!!!!

    15. I'm safe. So far I don't like any of the Idealians, but I have to say I think York is the one I like the most. I love my Ender much more, and I still want Shoshon one day! There are some slight similarities I think.
      Is it just me, or does he look a little off in the frontal view? I think that is what it is for me....the eyes in the profile view.
      I love my 70 cm boy, but I think 80 cm might be too much resin for me. I would love to see one in person though!

    16. Wow... what a hard decision! :doh I absolutely adore his outfit, I want it so badly! but I'm not so sure about his face. He looks gorgeous in some pictures, but off in some. Hmm. I'll have to think about it for a few days. I'm hoping it's just Soom's faceup that makes his eyes look so slanted, especially with the eyebrows slanting up too. For now he's a maybe.... if it weren't for that outfit, I'd probably just pass and wait for the next one, but I'm itching for an excuse to buy an ID.

    17. I honeslty think, the ''weird'' part of him are those oversized, overugly eyes they put on him X____D With a size less, and less threaded, that almond shaped cat-like gaze has to be absolutely to die for. Combine with a powerful nose, and that jaw, and... her eyou are, another killer hunk by Soom, choose your color. I wanna be rich -_____________-

    18. I agree that the eyes he's wearing are large, and I also think a different eye makeup would prevent the eyes appearing to extend so far to the side of the face. I'd like to see a blank head sculpt but since I'm not buying I suppose it's up to prospective buyers to ask for that sort of info. It could change minds. I do think he's lovely as he is, but obviously some people are having issues with those eyes.

    19. I can't speak for all Soom dolls of course, but my Chalco is still absolutely perfect and I haven't heard about worn away tan color with Soom yet. I'd say Soom tan color is 100% perfect. If I can buy York, I will order a tan too I suppose. I like him on the first view better in normal skin, but I want him to be more different from my ns Ender. So I better go for tan skin and it is more suitable for what I want to do with him.

      @eyes
      These eyes are what I love most with him and are the main reason why I want him so badly.

    20. I've noticed worn-away colour at the shoulder joints on tan Iplehouse dolls - the lovely Kamau being a particularly good example. I haven't seen it on Sooms, but their dolls are not so dark anyway.
