Soom Idealian: York - Time Voyager

Mar 2, 2011

    1. well he's just a little bit awesome isn't it!?!?! I absolutely love the outfit and monocle...have to have a look around for some splits me think. What sort of size are the Idealians?

    2. I like him. :(
I do not like the fact that I like him. I have just finished paying off Hyperon and he will be my first muscle guy, first Idealian and first Soom. I want to make sure I like all of the above before I throw money at another one.

Me too! I absolutely love those slanted eyes! And that nose is to die for! What is it about me and those Idealian noses? :?
Hyperon's nose was what won me over in the first place.

IF Hyperon manages to come home before York's deadline, and I am really happy with the size and quality, I just might cave and start another layaway for this dude.
Ugh... I guess I can't brag about being the only one on this forum who hasn't been Soomed anymore. :|

    3. I very much like his eyes and a nose and remarkable skin color:D

    4. Well, he's up for sale - has anyone caved yet? I like the look of him, seriously tempted.

    5. *waves arms madly* I caved instantly.on the teaser photo lol.

    6. That is what I said earlier, the eyeballs are huge...they are 16mm. I think with 14mm or 13mm he will look so much better!!!!

    7. I've got Branon, the first ID Soom released, and I haven't seen this problem with him. His blushing is intact, too, despite everyone I know feeling the need to strip him and look at his sculpted-in hair... O_o

I've decided I'm getting York, even though I am still paying for Hyperon. Tan skin just does it for me, not to mention almond shaped eyes. In the first pic, where his eyes look darker to me they look more in scale. Light eyes tend to pop out at you-- maybe that's the problem people are having with their size.

I asked them to send me a pic without faceup, and a full profile, so I'll post as soon as I get it!

    8. Oh, I love his face! Love the eyes. (and yes, he would make a gorgeous elf!) :D

My money is tied up with Ender... and happily, since I'm a huge Anubis fangirl. I just love fantasy parts! (can't seem to just stick to elves...)

But he's fantastic! Soom is so good at hooking into the most delicious things... Pirates... Steampunk pirates... hunky, beautiful, long-haired, well-dressed Steampunk Pirates... aaaggggh... the pain of lacking huge amounts of expendable income!!! *_*

I so want that outfit... Think it'd fit a MegaGem? Or a model EID? ... I'd MAKE it fit, if I had it!!! :D

    9. I can pass on both (thankfully :) ). There's always something about the face sculpt by this artist -- I'm thinking two different people have done the Idealians (Branon and Hyperon look too different) -- that seems stiff to me. The outfit's nice, but I'd planned at a later date on something custom and it doesn't sway me to change that.

I'm still curious to see what the future ID's look like, and hope maybe Soom will refocus on a clothing line.

    10. Oh thank you for answering that. Hmmmmm...I am really leaning toward this guy in tan. I guess I would get the blushing as well. *goes back to look at the eyes*

    11. The blushing is really worth it, IMO. Lots of attention to detail-- they did an amazing job on the veins. Can't afford it this time, though. Cuz now I want his outfit, too.

    12. Oh bebeh! :aheartbea :aheartbea Well, shiver my Twinkies! Isn't he a whole yardarm of delicious. The Asian Pirate thing is really rockin'. What a gorgeous outfit! And what an elegant, beautiful face. Definitely, needs smaller pupil eyes to get rid of the Meth Casualty look, but once you get that done he'd be a complete atomic pantymelter.

So what's York's deal-- from that story & his 'statistics card', do I gather that he's an actual human character? No magic powers or anything, just happened to time travel & get himself transported to the magic world?

The tan doesn't "wear away", per se. If you see lighter-colored scratches on friction points (shoulderballs being the prime offenders), it's usually either sealant wearing off & looking crusty on the edges... or it's an actual resin scrape, from keeping your doll strung too tightly.

When you scratch tan resin, it looks like a lighter color because the lower layers don't catch the light the same way the finished surface does. If you rub down the edges of the scrape, i.e. with a cleaning-sponge, I find that minimizes the look of the scratch-- and over time, it seems the scratch's lighter color darkens, and normalizes itself. Of course the gouge itself is still there, & you have to live with it. Unless you are into attempting to sand your tan doll, which I would never do (Soom warns you about it on their sales pages, too)! That is the main reason I keep my tan dolls strung loosely.... Tans need a little more care than NS because of the scrape thing.

    13. I personally want to know who did Lupin, and if they will be doing more -- and if so, for which line. He is sitting blank on a shelf with a number of the other newer arrivals from later releases, all blank and waiting some attention and... the difference is so striking. It is utterly mind-blowing to see it. The level of detail over all is quite profoundly different.

Edit: D'oh. I meant to mention, I think the Branon sculptor may be the one behind some of the earlier MAs, and possibly some of the earlier SG basics. I am really curious, though.

    14. Ok, the more I look at him the less weird he looks lol. I think you guys might be right, the eyes might just be too big.
You know, I never used to like Soom faces. But Chalco, Shoshon, Ender and now York all seem to have an aesthetic that I like. Stop Soom! Go back to the faces I didn't like lol! Otherwise I am going to be in big trouble!
I think York looks better in tan myself.

    15. Still debating if I like him or not... the more I stare at him the more I like him. And he would be tan for a change... just don't know.. have still some other layaways going and I usually can't take more than two at a time. There is still time to think it over.

    16. Who did Coquina? - That's who York reminds me of, or perhaps Coquina & Chalco's love-child. Not quite sure why. Perhaps the almondy eyes. And he has that same cutie-soft 'pouching' between cheek & lip-corner, despite that manly square jaw and longer nose.
      :kitty2

    17. Wow, I just looked at all the Idealian parts separately...and I am a bit freaked out by the head looking like a skull and the brain inside the head. O_O Call me a silly baby but that is creepy. Is it just me?

    18. I think you're correct. There is a definitely a similar sculpting style to Branon and Lupin.

And now I'm wondering just how to shiver a Twinkie. Is it akin to deep frying them?

It's creepy, but it's good creepy.

    19. wow simply great that soom offer tow skin color resins, i love quite a lot the costume, very well done and detailed, but i see something of lupin, as someone already pointed, and also a bit of chalco in his face-mold....

    20. He almost looks like Deneb and Chalco's love child to me for some reason. He has Deneb's nose. I kept looking at it and thinking, "I know this nose. This nose, it is familiar to me." I glance at the shelf and am met with those very nostrils -- I should have known. ;) He has the Coquina lip divot though. (It's seriously adorable, I swear.) I feel all Deliverance here: he shore got a purty mouth. *cough*

Soooooooo not surprised to see you in here. ;) *enabler hat on* You know you want a big burly pirate. You know you do.
