Soom July MD tiny: 'Keny & Silt – Little Shaman' discussion.

Although they are really adorable, I will not order this time. I don't feel the urge to buy one of them and I feel completely fine with my Soom Ai who has Glot hooves. In my opinion, the hooves do not look like Glati/Glot hooves at all.

But the Idea to get mine some Afi-Hands is not bad. I think I will look for some- when I already have him and have money again XD
I´m already afraid of attaching his hooves. I have never strung a doll, and the blushing chips so easily...

 

I blush all my guys myself, and restring them with tedious monotony (it's not my favourite job.) and don't have a problem with chipping from that, so don't worry too much, it's a lot less scary then it looks, and hoof changes are the easiest bit of stringing you can do.

So they are that expensive and there is no extra head and you actually have to PAY MORE for the hoove legs instead of them being part of the package? Wow. Really really lame.

 

Hrm, can't say I'm all that impressed with what they come with. Sure, the price of Keny is the same as Afi once you add the hooves, but Afi also came with two heads, two sets of hands, a cute little tail...

Think I'm going to have to give my money to Iplehouse this go 'round. :\ Really disappointed this go 'round. Really and truly, because they are very cute.

 

Yeah, I meant to make that point, that Afi and Ai came with so much more, two sets of hands, horns, a tail, human legs and hoove legs (not just a lower leg, but a special sculpted thigh part as well), and an extra head.

New elbows and a skull hat does not justifiy the price jump at all in my opinion. :[ I'm sad.

 

Ahh, the NS is so adorable!!! Unfortunately, I'm saving up for Volks.

 

I'm sad too. :< I just don't understand... I guess maybe we were spoiled with the other MD tinies. Makes me really regret missing out on Afi. ;~;

 

I'm super disappointed this time because I was thinking of throwing caution to the wind and actually getting one. I've always wanted a tan doll, and one with hooves, and a sleepy eyed doll, so I thought I could hit three birds with one stone this time around. I was sadly mistaken!

Usually I defend soom no matter what they do, but this just strikes me as...not right. All the other MDs came with their fantasy parts as standard, these guys' legs are an optional part? Really over priced, in my opinion. New elbows are cool but, not THAT exciting.

Edit: I just realized that the tan one is almost as expensive as Aphan! And Aphan is an MSD and comes with two heads, horns, human legs and fawn legs!

 

Well, actually I think the skull-helmet is the replacement for the extra head, and the horns are included in it, so I think the only thing missing in compare to Afi/Ai are the extra-hands and the Tail. I can live with that though, he would never have worn his tail, and actually I like his hands, so everything is fine (for me^^)

 

A hat doesn't = a whole head in my opinion, and its something only a few people could actually use. A sleepy eyed head can be its own character and is much more versatile. And the horns aren't removeable to be put on the dolls actual head. so basically it is just a hat, a very niche hat that can only be used if you want your doll to be a shaman, or a demon, or some primative character that would actually go around with a skull on its head. Skull hats won't look so good with a frilly dress or a nice formal victorian boy outfit, or modern clothes. Most people aren't going to be using it.

 

Of course it isn´t the same, and it´s bad for the people who have no use for it, but if you compare how much resin you need to make an extra-head and horns or the hat it´s nearly the same, I think. And I think the resin is what actually makes the price.
But I´m sure I would also be dissapointed if I didn´t want to use the hat.

 

I have to admit, I'm quite surprised at the price. If I do get him, I'm not bothered about getting the hooves anyway, but even without he's pretty much the same price as some of the other Tiny MDs who have more parts with them. I would have thought that they'd include an extra set of hands, since the clasping hand for the pole (which isn't included X3 ) is a bit unsual to have on its own - Limited Bory did too, admittedly, but Luts also had the option for buying other hands.

 

Funny though that everyone wants to join a split for the skull alone..

Some people have actually been praying for just one head because they have too many floating heads around.

I think it just depends on what you're looking for in a doll.

 

Haha, I didn't know so many people wanted the skull. But still, I do think that it can't be used with much.

With the extra head issue, I would sell the one I didn't want. That way, you get a little money back, and make someone happy who wasn't able to get the whole doll, you know?

 

The reason is no more resin than a tshirt from a brand label is more expensive than a smaller brand because of the fabric.

Prices on items GO UP. Its inflation and companies do it for numerous reasons. Soom's been showing signs of financial disress. Remember the chaos with the Christmas kits? The sudden disappearance of the Idealian because they couldn't afford to release him at that time? Who know what's going on there. Whoever casts their dolls (its a rare company who casts their own dolls, and 90% are the Chinese ones- most companies outside China outsource their casting over there) may be charging more, their rent may have gone up. Who knows?

They're not doing it for shits and giggles or to be an eeeeeevil greedy corporation of doom or anything. It's most likely logistics.

 

Yhea, I didn´t mean that soom-dolls are more expensive then others because of the resin they use, I just meant that , if they try to include the same amount of extras at every doll, they probably don´t do the same number of pieces, but more like they do the same amount of Resin.
Well... doesn´t sound very logical... if I could explain it in German... XD

But the skull hat doesn't use as much resin as a whole head, and a tail, and extra hands...
