Soom June MD: 'Coquina- Eternal Destiny' discussion.

So I've been waiting for a girl doll to be the perfect Oberon (yes a girl xD).
.... please.. release.. fairy dolls.. soom.. lots of.. female.. fairies!!!

 

LOLOLOL! So the first thing I thought of was Topaz and Vesuvia somehow combined together. And the second thing I thought of was you! I'm just dying, seriously dying, I want big faeries, I want weensy faeries, I want them all!!!

Which is financial poison, but I don't even care! I mean, there are so many faery themes they could play off off, they have plant themes, they have all sorts of butterfly and ladybug themes, they have mushrooms! (I have no idea why I'm fascinated with mushrooms this morning, LOL!

Sigh, this is horrifically off-topic. Dragging back to topic...I do think they're going to do a split between a certain fantasy theme represented so well by Coquina, and perhaps a more violently colored and maybe even dark faery world. I also think maybe they won't be monthly, but maybe quarterly?

Thanks very much for the screen shot! Hmmm. While I'm happy to see more pictures, the angle makes her neck look very thick and long. I'm hoping it's just a wonky shot.

 

Another day waiting for my Annabeth. I can't wait to see more of her. I'm hoping for more pictures too . Its so kool she's for sale on my birthday* squeals* its was meant to be.

Ahh, she does look interesting in both colors... however, I am both disappointed and relieved.

Disappointed because the horned skull (while as awesome as Chalco's)pretty much disqualifies anything mermaidy or water-type (my soft spot...).
And it calls for hooves agAINNNN...
I hope I'm proven wrong somehow!

Relieved because then my wallet is SAFE!

But I'm still really curious about the rest of her.

As for the headsculpt, I wouldn't trust their promo pics too much, as usual.

Remember Cass? The promo pics didn't do her justice at all.
And she turned out to be one of the most versatile sculpts ever. I love what everybody did with her, so different each time!
I hope Coquina's sculpt has that strength... I cannot wait to see owner pics and what they'll do with her.

 

Since it's been over a year since there was a hooved SG lady, I'm really hoping for Coquina to be one. Preferably with more Beryl-like hooves rather than Amber-like, though, but if she's like Chalco it will likely be the latter. I'll take what I can get, though.

Although it IS curious why they were do a female Chalco when Chalco himself was a male Amber. Male and female of each type is totally ok by me, but past that it seems more than redundant. However, we shall see come Monday what Soom has up their sleeve.

 

I would actually have liked to see her without the glittery eyes. While I'm really interested in this sculpt, I find it hard to base an opinion on those shots with those eyes.

 

I actually find it difficult to really understand a face sculpt too with those glittery eyes...something about the depth illusion they create makes it really difficult to see past them. Though I do think they are lovely

 

See I'd never put anything BUT glittery eyes in a doll nowadays, so I love to see them with the glittery eyes cause it gives me a better feel for the sculpt and how it will look if I brought it home.
I really generally dislike pupil eyes, and since discovering Soom's glittery eyes I haven't looked back!
Nearly all my dolls have them now! ^_^

Overall I'm still wondering if Soom have something hidden here.
It seems like such a boring waste of time to release a doll identical to Chalco that just happens to be a girl so I still think they must have something else to surprise us with!

 

Ah, with that kind of skull, it seems hooves are the most likely? I can't imagine what else they would possibly put on her...

 

True... I was thinking, though... she could be a western dragon or a wyvern...

Wyverns after all have the same stem as the French legendary guivre or vouivre, a clear-water type of fairy appearing either as a gigantic winged serpent with one single ruby eye or as a beautiful fairy wearing a tiara with said ruby.

Men would often try to steal the ruby as the nymph would leave her tiara on the bank while bathing in her pool but of course she would notice as soon as mortal fingers lay hands upon her gem... and turning back into the huge she-dragon, she would eventually burn the trespasser to ashes or devour him.

A vouivre-type would also link her to the famed fairy Melusine, who was turned into a she-serpent by the curse of her mother.

So... snake parts aren't completely out???

 

Agreed. Plus I think the Chalco-type hooves have pretty much been played out. They've been on 3 different dolls.

The skull makes me think she's some kind of predator. Perhaps another dragon?

 

Another dragon would be awesome... A wyvern with wing arms and dragony legs would have been better, though, than these fauna hands... ~_~ I still have a feeling it'll be hooves. Disappointing for some, maybe, but it has been awhile since a hooved female was released, and they haven't done girly hooves in NS or Tan yet, have they?

 

I agree it would be a bit redundant for them to make her Chalco-like with hooves... I will be REALLY surprised if they do that.

 

I agree, hooves again would just annoy people now. But with any other creature, wyvern, serpent, nymph, it seems that they could've come up with something more original than a horned skull on her head..

 

Maybe they are basing her off a specific piece of artwork, similarly to Onyx?

What piece of artwork did they base her on? Something from ancient Greece?

 

Oh I was just throwing that out there as speculation--trying to think of a reason why on EARTH they would repeat Chalco's skull hat if they didn't have to. If they were duplicating a piece of artwork of say, maybe a witchdoctor type character, it might make sense for them to put this skull in. I dunno though, maybe they...are just running out of ideas? Hopefully her lower body will blow us away when it's revealed!
