See looking at it more.. I think it's some kind of shell on her head??
I really don;'t know.. but the texture seems weird for a skull somehow?

 

I'm thinking Dragon. Head ridges would explain the holes down the middle. She looks very different in NS vs Tan.

 

Nope..i never see a shell indented like that..definitely is a skull..evene if i've noticed right away the difference between the Chalco's one...

Don't know..just to mention that :
her dress seems in a sort of dark greenish color..and with some python insert on the corset...

 

IMO it's a skull, a frog skull...maybe?But for sure not a shell, i've never seen a shaped shell like the one on Coquina head.....
We wil struggle till Monday, also her dress reminds me a sort of viking style...

 

She is a mystery until Monday comes along, and those horns with the skull is strange looking. She may have hooves, but who knows what type of animal she is suppose to be. I think of gazelle, but if she is suppose to be some sort of water horned animal then water buffalo could be it too. Soom will confuse us all until then. I think she will be in Tan and WS from the pics on page 8.

 

I didn't mean it looked like a particular shell, just that the quality of the resin looks like a shell.
That might just be the way they've photoshopped it though, I don't know.

I do know that if she's something like a dragon I may be in trouble. x_x
Especially with the Faery Legend coming out too which may be totally my thing... or not at all. ^_^;;
Can't afford TWO Soom dolls at once!!

Looking forward to seeing more of the outfit too.
I might be the only person who thinks it looks quite boring so far, but has potential.
For me, the best outfits they've done so far are the Cass human outfit (which I have), Galena's outfit, and Topaz's outfit.
This one looks like it might be too simple for me, but we'll see! I'd love to see some tiny little butt shorts!

 

You're not the only one who thinks she looks quite boring so far XD I definitely saw her and went "blah..."

But if she has crazy octopus legs or something, she'd be AMAZING! So there's definitely potential. I'm still reeling from all Soom's new releases this month though. I don't know if I could handle more shock!

 

the soom image sometimes are really heavily photoshopped, and the background could meen nothing in the , at least,
coquita could be a dragon, or have hooves, if we reffered the two pictures uploaded on web site, and the oense shown in the slide....
Fairy legend if it going to be stuff like elf, magical creature, or fairys, dont' suit totally to my taste, so i'm quite safe...

 

I was hoping the outfit would be more, but if it is something simple then....she is not for me. I do have others in my wishlist that have me interested. If Soom comes up with something totally amazing and screams at me to buy it then my wishlist will change yet again!

 

One of FAV costume so far are both from Cass,and the galena one, but i've readed overe DoA that wasen't so easy to handle....
even the vesuvia costuma was stunning..but coquina, let's see...i don't know what to expect...

 

Something I've been wondering is, if in fact the Faery Legend is what it sounds, and we're going to get fairies, elves, magical creatures and so on (oh please let this be the case, please please please! I want this so badly!!), maybe they'll start releasing more hooves and so on within the Pella storyline.
Re-releasing hooves is probably much easier for them that creating a huge new idea, so it would give the design team a break!
Though I do wonder if they're going to have multiple totally separate design teams now; 2 for Pella (tinies and super gem), 1 for Remaining Story and 1 for Faery Legend. Who knows though!!

 

In that case I would like to suggest to Soom to re-use the fishy parts

 

After having another glance at Coquina's pics...I do like the look of the NS(or WS) version more at the moment. I still don't have a fully formed opinion of her yet though. 'Til Monday it is!

That would be really interesting if they had multiple design teams. I am really hoping Fairy Legend is filled with faeries, gnomes, trolls, elves, nymphs, fairy tale characters, etc. I've love for the humans in it (if they have any) to be Victorian era types. XD

 

Definitely! The fishy parts were amazing.
Absolutely my favourite fantasy part Soom have done!
Shame I really didn't like Cass's head sculpt at all. Everything else about her was just perfect!
I adore my little Eliv though!
Would love to see more reworkings of the fishy parts, definitely!

 

IMO basing on the sale on secondary market the hooves are most popular and more valuable then the other fantasy parts,
as fishy parts, or claws, or birdies parts as well as wolfie parts, not me as i really like badly dragon parts, and birdie parts, even the one form cass was a deal, such amazing.
But since the Soom want their customer to be happy, still going on with hooves as are more appreciate, as well as horns.
My interest get really low if fairy legend will about elves, fairies and magicians, and other creature like that...i found them quite boering, and i really hate elf ears...

 

After looking at it for longer than a first glance, I can see what your husband is onto. It doesn't look like a normal skull because of that strange nasal passage. Which got me thinking:

strange nasal opening + water-themed background = porpoise or dolphin!

If it weren't for the horns sticking out of it, the shape would be about right for some of the melon-headed porpoises.



That's a harbor porpoise skull. Obviously, Coquina's headdress is missing the elongated upper jaw that the porpoise skull has... but the similarity is there. The opening at the top of her head could be a blowhole. We could be looking at a marine mammal-inspired doll, rather than a reptilian or icthylian one.

Or, this could just be wishful thinking on my part. I'm quite fed up with hooved dolls, to be honest. I feel like SOOM needs to reuse something else, or come up with a new gimmick. Hooves are old news.

EDIT: Of course, I'd expect a dolphin-girl to be gray skin, rather than tan. But we'll see. I'm certainly very curious about this one. I'll be sorely disappointed if she's just a female Chalco. Her face is sweet... so if her animal parts are interesting enough I may be tempted.

 

I'm thinking fish, mermaid, sea reptile...ish. Cocquina is a shell material and she is standing in a backdrop of water....

Either way, looking forward to seeing what they come up with even if I'm not buying this round.

 

I had considered it being a blow-hole too, but then remembered the speculation thread for Chalco when everyone tried to figure out what sort of animal his skull mask was in the hopes that it'd help reveal what fantasy parts he'd have. Turns out: it didn't.

 

Also, let's not ignore the horns...most sea mammals do not have horns like that.

I had already considered that. Like I said, this is probably wishful thinking on my part.

I wouldn't put it past SOOM to just stick horns onto their dolls, though. :P

Also, regardless of what sort of animal she is, the new pictures give off a very shamanistic feel. :3 The more I look at her, the more I like what I've seen. I'm hoping she's not just another hoofed SOOM doll.

Her profile is adorable. I'm glad we at least have a few different angles of her face. She looks much less androgynous in the lighter picture (which I think is WS, not NS).
