Soom June MD: 'Coquina- Eternal Destiny' discussion.

To be honest, I think it would be amazing if she were a marine inspired girl.... but considering that I have a fawn character in my mind.... If they did something like reuse Beryl's hooves I would flip lol

 

I'm really hoping she will bearin related, especially a mermaid! That would be awesome! But if she does turn out to be another hooves doll, I've got plans for that too!

If she'll be in NS and a sort of variant of Cass,a sort of marine related or watery themed,whatever,i will seriously consider to get her...
Bur if she will come on Ws then again no...imo she looks like NS in the slide show shown on soom web site but everyone here have it's own opinion in the end.

 

maybe a sort of marine creature i will be great, but not for sure a sren as already cass was, and if she'll going to be marine related would have the scales on her forearms visible....

Searching images of buffalo horns, have to say - Coquina's look just like them. People who have said water buffalo might be right, even though that could be a little disappointing. Still leaves the strange skull - doesn't look like a buffalo skull.. hmm.

 

somehow, she looks like from bleach......especially the mask

 

I think the banner still looks like the tan one. But the water buffalo idea seems to match the shape of the horns.

If her skull is a water buffalo's, it has lost half of its face.

Ohman, I once made a pink water buffalo character as a joke, I would DIE if Coquina was actually a water buffalo girl. DIE. I would need her just on the principle of lawls.

 

LOL! The pic I found is an albino water buffalo from Thailand. The horns are more similar to Coquina's than the second pic. I think the second pic is a water buffalo from Africa.

Another argument for whether she is WS, NS and/or tan!

Still interesting how in the first pictures of her, there were no horns to be seen, just the veil. Wonder if the horns are removable from the skull?

 

Chalco's horns are removable from the skull, so that seems likely.

I thought most Water Buffalo are connected with bodies of fresh water. Yet her name is linked with the sea. Maybe she's a deity that rules over all things water and the water buffalo horns make the connection from fresh water to her name which is of the sea.

So fish parts on her would be just awesome to complete the connection.

 

I'm a sucker for fish parts (Cass, oh my, Eliv and Iv..), I would *love* to see more fishies from Soom!

After watching "the Princess and the Frog" with my family last night, I woke up this morning thinking: "What if the skull isn't a part of her animal-being, but just of her animal-theme?"
A lot of people mentioned she looks shamanistic, she's green-ish, connected to water.. What if she's an alligator or crocodile?
They eat waterbuffalo, it could explain the skull, and why it looks beat up.

Wishful thinking, I know.

 

That's not a bad idea! The dress could reveal something reptilian like sequins for scales...but her fingers are too slender for a croc, she'd need something more claw like?

p.s. glad I'm not the only one that wakes up thinking of dolls....I also go to bed thinking of them too...

 

gelfling9uk, I go to bed thinking about dolls, too. I have my moments of non-dolly thoughts, but I'm still working on some characters, and with all Soom's craziness as of late my mind won't give the subject a rest!

I think you might be right about the fingers. I guess I'd just be so saddened by a female Chalco that I'm trying to find something, anything to convince me that she's not. Of all the dolls they could make an opposite sex version of, why hooves?
I know, I know. They sell.

 

Well, to be fair to Soom, this wouldn't exactly be the first gender-swapped set they've done, and not all the sets have been hooved pairs:

Beryl/Sard (demon/cloven hooves)
Chrom/Breccia (wolf/fox paws)
Euclase/Galena (bird talons)
Chalco/Amber (deer/two-part hooves)
Heliot/Cuprit (horse hooves)

Almost a completely even split between hooves and non-hooves. Also, this list should give you some hope for a non-hooved girl, since Chalco's deer hooves (with removable hoof piece) are already very strongly linked to Amber's hooves of similar design. Despite Coquina being tan with a skull mask, I think there's still a chance she has something other than hooves

 

I still hope so..even if the horsn,hands,skin tone made me think to chalco,still something about her name,her dress make think a sort o watery themed female.

 

I'm crossing fingers for a mermaidy-thing too... no scales on the hands might just mean "cetacean" instead of "fish". Or a shark.

However, about the wyvern thing... the more I look at that skull, the more it reminds me of the helm of Wyvern Rhadamanthys from anime Saint Seiya (yup, I'm a geek. What??? ).
