Soom MD April 2010: Monzo - 'Stone Heart'

For those of us with way too much time on our hands:





I love the fact that the wings have the little finger claw at the top.. hard to see unless you level it up.. nom nom.

 

I agree with you Melantyte. I think those are honkin big wings. But I can't shake the feeling he would have come in black resin if Shonki had sold well. I wonder if we'll ever get an 'Obsidian' or 'Jett'. That would be so cool. They could do a god and goddess in black, and do their face-ups in silver or gold. That would be so cool! :-D

 

Monzo is kinda cute at that (though I have to get past calling him The Monz, and Monzie in my head). Lol! It looks like his eyes are sparkly stone grey -- or grey with flecks of silver, yeah? If all of these dolls were planned to look like someone, I wonder who he supposed to resemble.

<g> They should do a girl who looks like Kim Yu-Na (the figure skater). She seems so sweet and adorable, and she's very fresh-faced -- I think she'd make a great doll! Oh -- ha! She could be their first 'ice' doll, like a winter goddess (feel the irony world!). I'd have to get her then, for sure!

 

I am in love with that face I don't have any Soom dolls right now; the only thing stopping me from getting the tinies I liked was the price w/outfits. I don't want to pay SD price for a yosd sized doll, even if it is limited T_T this boy is very handsome but I lack the funds...and I'm waiting for RS Tedros potentionally >.>; But I think this guy would look good with my NC Luna. noooooo.

And I can't buy anything, even with layaway or there's no way I'll have the rest of my cruise paid off by June D:

 

Heh heh... I feel your pain. I just finished paying for Tedros, and now I'll be bringing Monzo-Gonzo-Garbanzo-Mongo-Monzie-The Monz - the possibilities are endless!! - home. I've spent the last two days trying to decide whether I really need two kidneys. And I think I have altogether too much bone marrow, really.

How much do you think I can get for an ovary? LOL

 

I'm quite curious about this boy, but not sure if I'm Soomed. The last Super Gem boy that really got me was Sard, so I'm way overdue to fall for one. I think the wings really have potential!

 

Monzo is the first male Soom I have fallen in love with; I sooo wish that I could get him. Thanks to the much clearer photos that Melanyte did, I can see his wings. They are surely bat-wings...and spectacular as such

 

After my major depression in seeing such a potentially fabulous doll from Soom that ISN'T female (why couldn't they have made a bat/gargoyle/demon/thing that's a GIRL?!), I'm starting to see that Monzo (dumbest name ever xD) has the potential to really get me. It all depends how butt-like his chin really is (so not a fan of butt-chins, no I am not xD).
Of course I'll see him in person and realize he is very much a MAN and be turned off, but still, he has a lot of potential.
Now if Soom would release a nice sexy lean boy rather than the giant buff supergems, I might actually consider it. xD

 

midnitestar - A couple of things:

1. Buy him and split off the parts you don't want. Put the parts you like on a gray RS female body. Bam! Instant female gargoyle.
2. I'm not seeing the OMGMAN thing you're talking about. My Sphaler has little twig arms. Heck, my A-line MNF has more muscles than my Sphaler. Now, if Monzo is on a new SG body then yes, the muscles might be more defined. However, you could always refer to point #1.

Still Soomed! The end of the week can't come fast enough. This boy might be my first "fantasy resin" too. All I have are NS and WS dolls.

 

The thing that makes me feel like Soom SG's are "OMGMAN" is actually their waistline. Most other companies do very slender waists, whereas the SG waist is not overly thinner than the chest-width and for me that translates to a more masculine appearance somehow. I'd love for Monzo's body to be even beefier, if only to make my current SG's look smaller by comparison XD

However, Monzo's face to me looks downright boyish (save for the butt-chin, which typically I hate, but I kind of dig it because I don't see it in doll-form that often.. or ever?), so that might make for an interesting juxtaposition if combined with a more muscle-y body.

 

The face is really pretty! That mouth reminds me of Chrom a little. He does look very young.

I would be tempted to try and get the head if it were offered in WS or NS (preferably NS), but I think I'm done with splits for now, since the one I'm currently in seems to have gone sour.

 

rottedgirl - Good point about the waist. They do have some muscles in their torsos. And I believe Chalco's bull thighs are beefier than normal. I wouldn't mind if Soom redid the SG body to add more muscles (and remove those horrible elbow peanuts). As for his face, I think it could look pretty masculine with the right face-up. Soom's recent paint jobs seem to be lacking (like Shonki/Appini).

 

1 - That's definitely an idea, except usually I want fullsets so I'd have a problem with blushed parts and the super manly arms and legs that will most likely be fantasy and needed by me xD The wings however should work on a female just as well as a male, I'd assume? So maybe I should just grab the wings and wait for the right chance to use them!
I think the face is also very manly and wouldn't make so much of a good girl, but we won't know til we see more pics!

2 - It's basically just because I like my men (both in real life and in doll form) very very.. I guess you'd say weedy xD
I really don't like muscles on men at all.. I find them kind of repulsive and are only acceptable on my boyfriend (but that's just because he's dead skinny with his japanese muscles, not nearly as unappealing as western man muscles).. but I'd still honestly rather he quit his current job and became a skinny boy instead!!! xD
I just find the super gem bodies BUFF... then dolls like EIDs just remind me of those guys you see in the gym who are desperately trying to be buff and so weight train heavily and eat loads of food to build muscle, but just end up with muscles covered in a layer of FAT. ^_^;;
I think basically if I was going to get a male doll, he'd be one that was really really thin, and quite girly.. which probably means I should just get a girl instead xDD

 

Some IVF places will pay up to 7k for just a few fertile eggs if you meet the qualifications, but the egg extraction is painful and invasive, not to mention the hormone treatments you have to undergo beforehand... not that I've ever looked into it. << *cough*

I like the look of his superman chest and those crazy horns could grow on me with a little help. Not too crazed about the wings, though... depending on his feet I might just look for a head. It would be cool if he had a romantic or sleeping option as well. I might just wait and see what next months tinies will look like. If they follow this sort of aesthetic I might break my vow not to own anything smaller than an MSD. :O

 

It depends on how they're implemented. If they have an entire back piece to support the weight (like the new Luts boys) then you'll have to mod the RS body. If it's just a harness or part of the outfit you should be fine.

Personally I'm not sure if I'll use the wings or not. I'm sure they'll be awesome, but they'll also make him huuuuuge. And I've got limited shelf space. Perhaps they'll be optional, like Glot/Glati's feather wings.

 

Those look like some intense, heavy wings, I'm thinking maybe they attach to the body or those diamond/beaded straps on his clothes hold them on.

 

siriusstar: oh yes! now you are talking: sexy gargoyles perched all over the house. i would love seeing them sitting all over the place. 'we' would be wearing out the cemetaries sitting them on the tombstones.

ayuen: exactly that sort of thing. i totally thought that cthulhu is the influence for him, even though, he must be a 'regular' gargoyle.

 

OH damnit. I'm so screwed for this guy. He's everything I wanted in a gray doll...WHY SOOM WHY! I promised myself only Chalco and another gray doll. After I just pieced together parts for an Euclase... sigh V.V . Up for sale my euclase parts go I suppose ):

 

Oh man. This is gonna be a tight push to get him into my arms.
I wonder if they'll sell him in WS or NS. I hope so.. the GS isnt doing it for me. even if it is a gargoyle(hopefully)

 

Ditto. Absolutely right on with the butt-chin. I don't normally like that, but he really is sort of adorable, even with being all square jawed and beefy. Totally not in my plans, but I might crack if he ends up having clawed feet.

If he doesn't, I bet there are going to be a lot of people looking for Euclase legs after this run.
