Soom [MD/FEB]: Ender Lord of Dead - discussion!

Feb 7, 2011

    1. actually the concepts is quite interesting, even if euclase is as well have egyptian inspiration, i'm not fond with MG but this one is the very first that i like, agree that big body are't easy to handle, but other then that SG as well have some issue in posing.

    2. I'm with Lazulistar. Pretty, delicate face... does not go on beefy bouncer/gladiator body. >_< Ugh. I really love Soom faces, but they seriously need to do something about their body issues. -__-;

      It kind of feels like they're trying to compete with Iplehouse, the way Iplehouse introduced 'fantasy parts' on a few of their dolls, but again, Iplehouse did the fantasy parts poorly and it wasn't much of a competition at all, and I think Soom has the same problem with the beefier bodies. They're trying, but they can't even seem to find the playing field. x_@

    3. LOL, the baby faces are the issue I have with the EID bodies. They are just too sweet to go with all that meat.

      I wish Soom had gone with something more masculine, like Monzo's face sculpt. It's angular and reflects the influence of testosterone on the body-- which does more than build big muscles!

    4. Oh my Tygati..you're sooo right about everything!

    5. agree with both!
      So far just Branon and Lupin are more masculine then other sculpt....

    6. See, now I find the Iple sculpts more masculine, with the possible exception of Evan, who definetely has a baby face. Luo, Tedros and Kamau have very masculine faces IMHO. The perfect combo, for me, would be the Idealian body with the Iple faces.

      Back to Soom.......Now Branon's sculpt was wonderful for that beefy body. I kick myself a bit every day for not jumping for him when he was available. I wish they would lean more towards sculpts that were along that vein instead of the baby faces. Not that that always stops me from buying. i do have Pangen (who has a bit of younger face) and I love him, but typically I stay away from the "younger" faces for the beefy bodies.

    7. I have nothing but Soom dolls in every size and I think they're pretty good posers lol. Especially my tinies. I like the supergem body a lot because it doesn't give me too much fuss (cept for those elbow peanuts). Though I don't go about doing grand poses for them like other people I guess. I just become annoyed when the beefy guys can't sit up straight. Guess it's my one pet peeve with the big guys.

      Still a very gorgeous guy, but I suppose a big Egyptian "lord of the dead" standing about in my room like that would probably make it hard for me to sleep at night haha.

    8. Well let's agree on disagree on this ^^
      I don't like at all the soom body posability,this is the reason why i own a lot of soom heads and soom fantasy parts but no soom bodies,i like the double jointed bodies,like DZ,and simply i have no use of soom body.

      I love the concept of this MD,then again i wouldn't buy ^^

    9. ohh me too how i regret to didn't give to Branon a chance....
      But it's possible as the first ID was such masculine, that intentionally soom changes a bit the way of sculpt facial features?
      I mena thya maybe sold few Branon and they take a step back and going on make new sculpt lesser realistic?
      It could be realted to this?

    10. ^^" i don't like the iple male sculpts..i don't like that much to be honest EID and SID male lines.

    11. Damn...absolutely gorgeous concept, absolutely gorgeous face...if he was anything other than a Mega Gem, I would be sold. But he is a Mega Gem...so I am afraid I must pass. Not too fond of the Fabio type, I fear. xD; I love a pretty face, a muscular body is fine in the right context...but not paired together, plzkthx. xD;;;

    12. Actually, I like my Monzo's elbow peanuts better than those of my Super Gems. They're designed so they can only fit one way into the arms. This makes them easy to assemble and it prevents them from swiveling around in the socket.

      That being said I was hoping Ender would be the first Mega Gem with an upgraded body (like the Super Gems).

    13. If Ender had been on the Idealian body, I could have handled it, actually. Idealian doesn't look like he takes steroids for breakfast. x_x It's a bit more of a natural strength look than an artificial one. I think that's my biggest beef with MegaGem. It looks so artificial.

    14. O_o'' This guy is stunning! Great design, and what a FACE!!

      I am on the side that thinks that there is nothing wrong with softer faces in large bodies XD; from all my EID's my favourite is still Evan, and I see nothing wrong on the way his face matches his body; but again, the EID super Hero body is soft and relaxed, just ''a large guy''; for me, the main problem with the Mega Gem and the Idealian is that the muscles and veins are WAY too defined, as if the models were in perpetual tension, trying to display every thread of muscle, like in a competition. The EID model body suffers from this a bit. On the other hand, the super hero feels very natural, and easy. I had to pass on Gluino because of the massive body, tho; the problem was not the ''baby face'', but the ''angular chin'', and narrow features, that clashed hard in my humble opinion. So I am doomed to die a bit every time that I see a Gluino on the galleries, haha.

      Back to ender... if I would not have ordered shoshon, it would have been him. Both guys are mare of win, but shoshon's theme and accesories were more useful for me... thanks god, because this guy is edible :^DD

    15. Yes. This exactly. Too strained. Thank you, Nanyalin.

      (And I am so totally looking forward to seeing what you do with Shoshon. *purr* Your dolls are always so gorgeous, and I would have snapped up Shoshon in an instant if he hadn't been MegaGem.)

    16. I do think this is what happened. The first TWO were masculine, and tan and... few people bought them. So I'm guessing they went back to the old standby of feminine faces and white skin. Although in my view, if this is what happened, they read their tea leaves wrong. People don't like to be first to jump on the bandwagon of a new doll line. It took a while for people to warm up to IDealian, IMO. I really hope the next ID is a tan one-- with angular, unusual face. Still upset that I couldn't afford Pangen when he was available. Lucky you, JinCincy! He's my dream dollie!

    17. Looking at this guy in the normal skin in his Egyptian get-up reminds me of the main character in Anne Rice's book, The Mummy.He drank the elixir for eternal life and his eyes turned blue over time even though he's Egyptian. This guy totally screams Ramses to me. Man! I wish I had room for a gigantic Egyptian doll here!

    18. i'm glad you share my thoughts, definitely the new lines are sold lesser, because sometimes we must get used to the new size, and the new sculpt of body.I really hope that they make next ID a more macsculine face, and tanned why not.

    19. Aw tygati, thanks! With soom, there is this strange parabole... the more you pay in their shop, the more you have to wait to get something X____D, so fullset shoshon with extras = maybe for -summer-? XD

      Sakuraharu did a great guess about the ID line and the two first guys. Even if Pangen was a bit more feminine than Brannon, but still was on the line. Ender looks like Tan Skin version of Gluino to me Oo', they could be related! Dunnow, for massive bodies, I have no problem with ''baby face'', as long it is a MALE baby face X_D (ie: Evan). The problem starts when it is a female baby face, haha

    20. is it just me or does he look a little like Chrom and Shoshon and a little of another doll in there? i mean, shat he is DAMN hot, (prefered Shoshon, though this guy looks okay too) Jeez SOOM seems to be improving, no offense to some, dayum.
